The Bears Won't Lose

At least, that's what the Crystal Ball Unit is saying this week.

They might be onto something.

Open post for Sunday.

Why were the projects called 'the Jets' ?

Wow, something they can finally predict with 100% certainty.

Considering the stupid reports they're sending out to units, showing where crime HAS ALREADY occurred (no, really? thanks), I'd say they're pretty useless. All they're giving out is what we always got from the DOC information.

If you plan on taking advantage of the tuition reimbursement, go to a quality school, don't take the easy way out by going to one of the schools listed above [SXU, Jerry Lewis, or Calumet College].

10/30/2010 02:58:00 AM

Blow me. I worked hard to get that degree.

10/30/2010 11:07:00 AM

sure stroke. must be real hard work to "fill in the bubble" in those tests they give you, right? or match this word to this statement, etc, anyhow you get the point. after getting a "masters" from one these schools that you have "worked hard" at, i wiped my ass with it. the only reason i didnt drop out was because it was a joke and didnt take much time from my schedule. however, for any newcomers i suggest you look at reputable schools. it might be a headache dealing with the finances and all that b/c they dont have arrangements with the city and they want their money right away but in the long run it will definitely be worth it.

Since we all know the Crystal Ball Unit is full of crap, mark my words, Cutler will probably be sacked 5 times and intercepted three times doing whatever or whomever a Bears QB does on their bye week.

It's gonna get ugly, folks!

I doubt if the Bears offense will even be able to score a single point and the "O" line will be as inept as they have been all season long.

At least we had Paris... er, I mean, the Blackhawks.

It pains me to see what has happened in the 10 years or so that I have been gone from the CPD. I admit that the supervisors went a bit overboard and were clumsy in their handling of this apparent dog. Be that as it may, what have you pussies come to that some unofficial discipline brings on a bogus lawsuit. Read the thing. They put him on a fixed post, in a car the projects, Ohh, poor baby. They wouldn't let him leave whenever he wanted to. Give me a break. Just remember what started this, his own big mouth, retelling something that he overheard. You know when I went on this job in the early 60's a war vet old timer told me what a great job it is, with all the perks, but you can't go against the powers that be or they will retaliate and you will never know what hit you. He was right. He also said that part of what made the job great was that even if they put you in the subway in your underwear, you could still do police work if you wanted to. It is too bad that the cry babys and pussies that have populted the job over the last 20 years or so are taken so serioudly.

10/30/2010 01:56:00 PM

So what you're saying is that the Officer shouldn't of told the other Officer that they used a racial slur when referring to him? This whole thing got out of control because the supervisor who said the racial slur was not disciplined from the beginning, if a CR had been sustained against her for using this term. Instead they retaliated against BC. Whether you're a DOG or SUPERCOP, there's no reason why a supervisor should refer to a subordinate as a n*****. If the supervisor really wanted BC to get his act together they would of disciplined him prior to this incident. Glad you're gone from the department, don't need anymore assholes like you, and no, I'm not black. Times change, it's not the "60's" anymore. For you own good move on, please, get away from this blog, this city, this state.

They were called the "jects" short for projects. It bastardized into "jets". Sort of like "jack-off" bastardized into "jag-off".

The pension board has hired a lobbyist with our pension money. It was announced at the special meeting last week. He is connected with mike madigan. What was the board thinking? What do we need a lobbyist for?

ANSWER: Because the people who created and published "Jet" magazine grew up in Rockwell Gardens.

Jeez! Don't you Hair Gels know ANYTHING????

Oh yeah...before I forget. The professional football team of like namesake finds it origins in Public Housing as well.

Here endeth today's history lesson, Grasshopper.

The residents of Cabrini, Horner,
Stateway, Rockwell, Taylor, and
others shortened the word
"projects" to "the jets".
Easier for them to pronounce due to
speech problems.

To 10:36 You don't need any college, much less a masters to perform this job. My only advise to newcomers is to go to a reputable school and get a degree that will get you somewhere. You're better off learning a trade than going to one of the joke schools ei lewis, calumet, etc.

10/31/2010 09:07:00 AM

Are you a moron?

The lobbyist should have been hired years ago. He will track all legislation that can and will affect our pension and report it to Us.

A lobbyist is looking out for those little add ons in other bills that may affect us, like Masters getting into our pension.

Pick a different battle to fight, this is not the one.

The Sgt.'s test was in '06. Only up to 130 on the list. Agreed that those in the Det. list are getting screwed.

I heard there is going to be a bigger class of Sgt.'s by the end of the year. Who the fuck knows?

This is ridiculous for everyone.

Think Officer Goldstein and the crystal ball unit predicted all the people being shot in 023 today? At least the deputy chief sent their car back from 25.

Maybe the kid's mom and dad should have gotten a job as a fireman.

In urban public housing street lingo, the inhabitants pronounced the word "projects" as "prah-jets". It eventually morphed to the short version, "jets", as in, "I lives in the jets." Nothing more or less than simple ebonics is the true explanation.
