Squad Stolen?

  • Is it true someone stole a Chicago Police car?

According to many witnesses a Chicago Police car was stolen then crashed into a pole in the Clearing neighborhood of Chicago. We were told that the beat car was crashed into a pole on 63rd St near Austin... tire marks all over the place and the door wide open.

That may explain extra police presence here today... which is highly unusual
Someone got some 'splainin to do!

UPDATE: To the unpublished dumbshit - the info is already out there asshat. See the link at the top? It goes to a media site. They have it already. We're "insignificant," remember? Try to keep up here short bus.

I was working with a recruit one day in 025. We had a traffic stop and I saw some guys walking up to the car while we were talking to the driver. I told the recruit to go back to the car and keep it secure. All the sudden, one of the guys jumps in the drivers seat but my coffee on the dash fell on his lap...then my asp caught him in the teeth. I learned a valuable lesson that night, keep the coffee in the cup holder!

It was due to typo by the front office----it was supposed to be a ride-along not a ride-alone.

Back in 1980, in response to a burglary pattern in the neighborhood, 2 A/6 Burglary Detectives, (now A/3 for all you newer kids), were at a public meeting at Grant Hospital giving tips to the citizens on securing their homes. After the meeting, the Detectives discovered their car missing. After searching the area and holding off as long as my Sgt would allow, I took the report and made all the official notifications. When the zone started doing the all-call message, the car was "discovered" parked at the A/6 lot.

As a prank, 2 of their "friends" thought it would be hilarious to move their car. I know there was an automatic CR on this, but I never heard what the repercussions were. I know no one ever owned up to the prank, officially speaking.

Coppers are funny, huh?

Someone took a photo of it. This may or may not be the vehicle.

Also some sort of "rant" going on with this link.

Police presence is way too light in Garfield Ridge and Clearing, along with virtually every other city department. And the gangs have noticed and are moving in...

It wasn't stolen, it was rented--by the hour. It's a new program being tried out by J-Fled and company to try and raise money for the city.

Citizens can rent a squad car, marked or unmarked, a squad roll or even the MRAP (that's big money), for one hour incriments not to exceed 3 hours. The money being generated goes directly into our pension fund to try and slow the hemoraging. It's just a trial phase and every little bit helps.

So tell all your friends. Rent a Wreck ain't got shit on CPD!

what about the 3 marked squads that got stolen last month. it was all on the hush hush. just curious if we got them back or do we still have to worry about some evil plot unfolding with the use of the 3 police vehicles.

An even better story is the (unconfirmed) one where the copper saw the unmarked squad in the suburban mall lot. Using his "extra" key he moved it back to the area.

Would have given anything to see the look on the copper's face when he/she comes out of the mall with their arms full and a trunk key in hand with no trunk.
