Probation?

  • Two schoolboys who threw bricks at an elderly South Shore homeowner have pleaded guilty to aggravated assault of a senior citizen and criminal damage.

But the 12- and 13-year-old boys will be sentenced to probation and won’t be locked up in the Cook County Juvenile Detention Center, Judge Andrew Berman said Monday morning.

The case hit the headlines in September when the boys’ 68-year-old victim, Margaret Matthews, shot the 12-year-old boy in the shoulder as he lobbed bricks at her from the roof of a shed at her home in the 7600 block of South Cole.

Get a load of this part though:
  • Matthews and several neighbors were ready to testify at trial Monday morning that both boys had terrorized the neighborhood for months, before Matthews finally snapped and opened fire as they smashed her windows. But both boys agreed to a last-minute plea deal.

Prosecutors agreed to drop felony aggravated battery charges against the boys in return for their guilty pleas to misdemeanor aggravated assault and criminal damage,

The victim and her witnesses are ready to go to trial. Slam-dunk verdict, right? Wrong:
  • Speaking outside court, Matthews said “I don’t feel like justice has totally been carried out.”

Probation and restraining orders preventing the boys from contacting her or any of the witnesses were “not such a big deal,” she said, adding that she thought the boys needed “some stronger order in their lives.”

Neither the boys nor their families have apologized to her, she said. “They’re in denial,” she added.

[...] The 12-year-old and his family declined to comment as they left court, but the 13-year-old’s mother said “he never did anything,” before leaving without further comment.

"Never did anything," except learn a lesson in how to manipulate the system and duck all responsibility for his actions, which we are sure will serve him in good stead as he begins his lifetime of passing through the criminal justice system until someone else finally finishes the job Mrs. Matthews wasn't able to do. She's irritated:
  • Matthews said she would “be keeping my eye out” for both boys and wouldn’t hesitate to call police on them again, though she hoped “they do something better and constructive with their lives.”
Don't hold your breath Mrs. Matthews. But do keep your gun handy - you're going to need it again, probably in short order.

Destiny, coupled with the phenomenon of history repeating itself, will likely have these boys dead before they attain the ripe, old age of 18.

Whether it's at the hands of a fed-up citizen, another "on deck" statistic (read: male black youth, 14 to 25 years of age) or the "evil police", these products of generations of entitlement and absentee parents are little more than M.E. numbers yet to be assigned.

If you think about it, Ghetto Years are kinda like "Dog Years" in many ways...

These liberals just don't understand why normal people leave Cook County as soon as they can. Some people just to be in jail and they need to be in jail for an extended period of time because the time they spend in jail or prison keeps us safe from them.

Just some facts that you'll never here in the liberal public schools or media; A survey done in 1954, a decade before the civil rights act of 1964 was passed by a majority Republican congress 82% of African-American children were raised by both parents at home. Today only 24% have both parents and for the last 46 years African-Americans have had more rights than before the civil rights act was signed into law. So one can say that they were better off when there was discrimination and segregation. Also, then approximately 60 something thousand were incarcerated, today approximately 900 thousand. You can find some of these facts and other interesting ones on www.wallbuilders.com

Dear scc: quite a few f bombs could be dropped right now but I'll refrain. Guess we are plea bargaining with 12 & 13 yr olds now to drop to misdemeanors. Yeah, we are in a sunken ship. This is why crook county is the fifth worse court system going. Disgusting

Juvy court ain't what it used to be. Every case is now a federal trial. They're asking for all officers, et, lockup keeper/detention aid, det. for burglary cases to make sure the prints were the shitheads. After a few continuances, because it's hard to get everyone to show up the case, is plead out.

This does not surprise me. In my opinion, the Cook County States Attorney's Office is trail shy.
They will plea a case out, just to chalk up a win conviction on record, rather than chance a trail. It's not always the ASA's fault, they do not stay long enough to get the proper case presentation experience. Low pay, poor benefits, heavy case load, and political issues, cause them to leave too soon.

We will be reading about these two little ass wipes again and real soon. Thanks Judge Berman you simple asshole. You ratified my opinion over the years that it is YOU judges who put we citizens in jeapordy. Get used to reading about more Mrs. Matthews because the age of the armed citizen has arrived in Chicago. The future of the street thug could be something of an emerging shift of cultural dymanics wherein the armed citizen may make them the prey.

Although anybody can sue anybody for anything, as long as she was on her property defending herself from actions that could have resulted in serious injury to herself. She will be immune from civil liability (Illinois law). Most any lawyer can get it thrown out for a minimum of legal fees.

Just a couple things about this case:

(1) This was not a plea offered by the State's Attorneys in the courtroom. It was the result of a 402 Conference. This means, it was the JUDGE who determined the sentence without any agreement by the State.

(2) The 12-year old cannot go to the Department of Juvenile Justice (DOC for juveniles) because 12 year olds cannot be sent to juveniel prison UNDER ILLINOIS LAW.

Perfect handgun for Granny!

Kel-Tec PMR-30 .22 Magnum semi auto pistol...

30 rounds in the handle plus one in the pipe.

Don't call bullshit on this one... The .22 Magnum is a little fire-breathing son of a real bitch on the business end (some loads hit around 1600 fps in auto pistols and 2000 fps in rifles)and a real sweet heart for older, smaller statured people or those who "know."

In years past we've seen plenty of shitheads sent to their doom by other shitheads wielding a piece of shit Lorcin or a Kel-Tec in .22 LR or .25 ACP.

Kel-Tec seems to have stepped up their game in recent years.

31 rounds of .22 Magnum down a hallway at the typical 7 yards and closing distance seems to be a good answer to a ticklish question. We think two mags come with it.

We're personally intrigued by this.

The working man's version of the FN FiveSeven at 30% more capacity and roughly half the price?

"Damn joe, I dunno what ol' lady was blastin' wit' but she bust that shit 'bout thutty times yo! I wuz jest tryin' ta git thefukouttadaway! She fucked ol' boy up tho..."
