Airlines Sue Chicago

  • United and American Airlines on Tuesday made good on their threat to sue Chicago to stop the city from issuing bonds to finance the remainder of the expansion project at O’Hare International Airport.

The airlines, which say they cannot afford to help pay for new runways that will not be needed for years, filed the lawsuit in Cook County Circuit Court just days after sending a letter on Friday to Mayor Richard Daley, asking for negotiations on the future of the O’Hare Modernization Program. The letter said the expansion must proceed based on future increases in flights.

[...] “We don’t need to spend the money now,” an airline official said Tuesday, adding that the number of flights at O’Hare are 5 percent lower than 2003 levels.
Giant air carriers are attempting to restore fiscal discipline to an out-of-control municipal government? The O'Hare modernization project has been a fiscal black hole and getting worse every year for a while now. Phase One (of four phases) is years behind schedule and already double or triple the original cost estimates and that's in billions of dollars. There's no way the airlines were going to sit still for this in the shape they're in. It's cheaper to pay the lawyers.

Todays Final Jeopardy question; category is Public Figures:
Q: Project years behind schedule? Triple the original estimated cost? The people getting it don't want it and the public doesn't want to pay for it?

A: Who is Mayor Daley of Chicago?

Oh-no!

Gee-whiz I hope this doesn't cut into the profits of that politically connected duty free shop out there....or the politically connected construction firms.

It's just a shame that we can't build a runway in the deep dark of night as fast as we can tear them up ya know what I'm sayin'?

Shortshanks wants to keep his big construction company contributors (da deese, dem & doze guys) fat and happy at the expense of the airlines.

The airlines called bullshit, corner pocket on shorty's shot.

*Clack*

Hence, the litigation! We laughed our asses off at this.

Hmmmmm!

Who's looking to get their dicks wet on this one?

Is this why Daley Inc. is pushing hard for an evil little fairy godfather flying around waving an asshole on a stick to be the next mayor so the pageant of financial fuck-nuttery can continue unabated?

Hmmmmmm?

Bill Daley to D.C. to whisper in the Fakir of Fuckery's ear to tell the airlines to shut up their squawkin' and play along or else their large-ass largesse from Uncle Sugar is going to dry up like piss on a hot sidewalk?

Bill Daley to D.C. to head off the possibility (remote to be sure but potential to be the funniest shit ever seen) of the airlines telling shortshanks to run away, hide and fuck himself, i.e. cut costs/overhead at ORD to the bone in retaliation for shorty trying to bend them over?

Is Slick Willy the "designated runner?" (shill/distractor) Like the little narrow-assed fuckers on the tip whose job is to run like a SOB so that the money man, the dude with the pack and the dirty assholes who are security can get little?

Daley Inc. figures there is still much money to be stolen.

Now they're trying to gsngster the airline industry since they got shit on in spectacular fashion during the no-lympic bid process.

Da deese, dem and doze guys gotta be taken care of one way or another so the the proper kick-backs can reach the proper people.

We direct your attention toward yet another Daley Inc. gift of graft in perpetuity... The 50 year plan to build on the old U.S. Steel South Works.

The gift that keeps on fuckin' giving!

Now THAT SHIT is just plain wrong!

Cleaning up the site of South Works to render it fit for human habitation?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

*Ahem* Sorry... We do amuse ourselves sometimes.

Oh well. Same as it ever was... Daley Inc. will get away with this shit because the feebs are worth their collective weight in dead flies.

I don't know... should someone tell the airlines that the City of Chicago owns the Cook County Circuit Court or let them find out on their own when the judge, who's in the City's pocket, throws the case out?

It's about time these airlines stood up and did something. Shortshanks' construction buddies have been making millions off ORD and the airlines for years. ORD is like a bottomless pit of money for all da mayors connected friends.

Chicago could mess around all they want and the airlines relocate to somewhere else - thus losing thousands of jobs. I fly continental -and was very upset with the merger with United. Continental is gonna regret getting in bed with a Chicago airline because of politics!

Da Mayo's biggest white elephant O'Hare expansion. It;s been kept under wraps for along time. No longer wait till somebody takes a good hard look at this thievery. The airlines are going to expose the thievery. Some retired United and American bosses along with Da Mayo, Madigan, Levar and others will be held accountable. Hope sooner rather than later. I would hate to see them go to Hell before their trials.

They were all hedging the costs on Shortys "promise" that Chicago was going to get the Olympics. Daley went all in with the airport expansion, Grant Park, Millenium Park, all of the underground parking, the selling of city assets for fast cash, the expressway rebuilds, the Lake Shore Drive re-route, Miggs Field, and even the little talked about deal with the owners of Soldiers Field. Which, by the way, Daley wanted to use for the Olympics (i.e. the ugly spaceship expansion) but was later told that it was no where near big enough. Look at the big picture and you can see where all of our pension money has gone in the past ten years so Shorty could show us off as a "World Class City" capable of moving large amounts of people around for the Olympics. Then it all fell through and Shorty says "Bye bye taxpayers. I'll think of you and all the money you made me while I live the rest of my days in my Michigan home with my 24 hour armed security and spend my money out here." Strap in and hold on. It's going to be a bumpy ride.

Well, actually it's not quite that simple.

UAL and AA don't want O'Hare expansion because they don't want competition at O'Hare. Their worst nightmare is a new Western Terminal full of JetBlue or Southwest or Virgin America planes offering lower fares.

If UAL and AA can prevent that, the nightmare doesn't happen. Yeah, O'Hare expansion has run off the rails. No question. But they've got other motives too.

The Airlines dont want expansion...The people living around O-Hare Airport dont want expansion...The Taxpayers of Chicago dont want expansion...But it's going to happen anyways...Just who will benefit from expansion...? Oh thats right...Little Dick and his cabal of contract groupies!!! Wake up Chicago!!! And realize that Rahm Emmanuel is going to run this city the same way....

Cruella Andolino squauked her support for the expansion and her disdain for the airlines. That alone should tell you the airlines will win this one. How can the city strong arm the airlines into paying for something that they along with the citizens of chicago cannot afford and don't want.

Kind of like the Rahm thing, he's being Rammed down everybody's throat and the voters will rebel. It don't hurt that he looks like Boris Karlov and reminds everybody of a horror movie to boot.

Has anyone told Bensenville that all those people were forced out of their homes for nothing? How about the families of the dead whom Daley rooted out of holy ground at St. Johannes Cemetery?

MAYOR DALEY IS CLINICALLY INSANE.

This is his legacy.

The evil that will be done by brother Bill getting right to the ear of the President will surpass it 100-fold, however. "The power behind the throne..."

Look at the name on the company signs, the same everywhere. They also built our HQ building at 35th st. that sags so much the doors to the mend toilets won't stay closed....nothing like quality work.

The Telegraph agrees --"There is no easy solution to creeping depression in America and swathes of the Old World. A Keynesian `New Deal’ of borrowing on the bond markets to build roads, bridges, solar farms, or nuclear power stations to soak up the army of unemployed is not a credible option in our new age of sovereign debt jitters. The fiscal card is played out.

"The US is drifting from a financial crisis to a deeper and more insidious social crisis. Self-congratulation by the US authorities that they have this time avoided a repeat of the 1930s is premature."
