- Chicago mayoral contender Rahm Emanuel got the big boost of a Bill Clinton visit Tuesday, basking in public praise at a rally and counting campaign cash raised behind closed doors.
The former president said Chicago is "critical" to the nation's future and needs "a big person for the job" of mayor.
"Rahm is not even 6 feet tall. He probably weighs about 150 pounds dripping wet," Clinton said of Emanuel, who served him as a top White House aide. "But in all the ways that are important, he is a very big person. He has made big decisions."
So he's like Shortshanks-lite? With a mean streak?

Two candidates for mayor used former President Bill Clinton’s visit Tuesday to suggest that Clinton’s plum appointment of Emanuel to the board of government mortgage giant Freddie Mac means Emanuel shares some blame for the nation’s foreclosure crisis.
Emanuel “sat on his hands, looked the other way and took the cash” when presented with an “Enron-style” scandal at Freddie Mac, said challenger Gery Chico, who is expected to be endorsed by Chicago’s Fraternal Order of Police today.
Maybe someone will bring up the millions Rahm made from shady utility company deals when he was helping them out for a mere year or so. Must be nice to be connected and be able to roll in the dough.

Of course Clinton says Rahm's qualified. Clinton taught Rahm all of his grifter ways. Clinton had a net worth of less than $500,000 prior to his presidential election. Today, he's worth over one-hundred million dollars. Not bad for eight years of Oval Office time.

Not sure bringing in Clinton was a good political move. If people think you MAY BE an outsider and a non-resident, why would you bring in a REAL outsider to try and boost your campaign?

You're wrong Phil. Clinton didn't teach Rahm anything. Clinton's campaign was in disarray before Rahm showed up and taught Clinton the grifter ways.
As for Clinton's net worth, that's easy. Any president can make a ton of money after leaving office. You're talking minimum $100k for a speaking engagement, book deals, etc, etc. President may not pay all that much compared to a corporate CEO job, but the money gets made up afterwards.

#2 Get your family registered. Spouse, parents, kids, aunts, uncles, etc.
#3 Get your friends registered.
If WE are not registered to vote, then WE are powerless.

Clinton has just done what most others in the political class have done while in office and immediately after, enrich themselves. One way or the other, through law firms with government contracts, bond deals, insurance, real estate deals, security firms, etc. etc. Nothing new here. The middle class tax payer gets it in the neck every time and pays for these people to live a very good life. And, yes, I am referring to the cook county board, the park district board, the chicago alderman, the state reps and senators. None of these jobs should be pensionable and they should have term limits.
