Anyone know if Henny Penny is giving lessons in supervisory insanity?
- We heard that the commander in 9, Jarmush-head, finally lost it and started going off on anyone in his path. In lees than 5 minutes, he turned the whole 2nd watch against him. Way to go! Great management style! Maybe when J-Fled goes back to hell, he can take The Mush with him.
So 009 joins the ranks of 011 and 014 with commanders who think yelling at subordinates conveys some sense of being in control and inspiring officers to want to perform their best possible work for the Department.
Where do they find these people? And more importantly, where do they find other people willing to actually nominate these people as having any sort of "leadership" qualities? Isn't anyone screening these applicants?

Since Dan Dugan, his clout, is long gone, he is desperately trying to hold on to his spot by showing Jackson and the other gold braids that he is in control.
Commander of 009 was/is the real police unlike most exempts. He has 40 years on. Sometimes people need to be yelled at. I would not lump him in with the others on one person's comment.
While not officially documented because some of her minions located it within a few hours, can anyone in 011 confirm that Henny Penny "lost" her star in her unmarked when she took it to the carwash last week??
Seems a search of the carwash and it's employees, as well as a review of the surveillance tapes, proved fruitless. All looked bleak until an anonymous citizen found the tin in a nearby alley and called a number found with the "proceeds".
She won't wear a vest or star to an HBT incident, but will have it peeled when she leaves it in the car while it's getting washed.
Now all you Henny Penny supporters chime-in and say it never happened because there wasn't paper generated. Anyone in 011 want to give their 2 cents worth??

A congressman doesn't carry a gun and issue orders in immediate, life-threatening situations. If Wu here can be told to go get help "for making kooky statements" it is well past time for the Chicago Police Department to stop ignoring its ranters, ravers, shriekers, and other visibly unstable armed personnel.

He's always been an old yeller. There is a major difference between him and the Henster. When he says "prepare arms" it means he's having a gun inspection, when she says it, you could possibly be in the process of an annointing of baptismal rites to yourself.
when i worked in 009 i'll say jarmusz's biggest problem was that he still cared. didn't seem like a bad guy, but when you are out there doing street stops at 2300 hours, and an exempt, and you are on salary something is wrong. seemed to have the working coppers back which is more than you can say for most upper echelon.

You will find that there are many like this boss in every district. I have worked for only a few bosses that had any people skills.

The 9th district commander is no commander at all. He shows up on scenes, riles up all the locals, then gets pissed at the officers onscene because the natives are out of control. Hey asshole! Everything was fine up and till you showed up. You want to take charge and make a small disturbance into a riot. Thats fine with me. But then stick around and fix it. Don't walk over to your car and start yelling at your troops. Just sit in your car and shut the fuck up. Things will work out better that way.

Didn't witness it on 2nd watch, but Dave is a cop. He has your back when shit hits the fan, when things get real Dave is there.
Lately he has been acting differently,the politics of the position don't sit well with him.
Spoke to him on the street one day, just happened to run into him. He said it drives him nuts how much city hall sticks their nose into district level problems.
You can't like everything about a man, when the boss blows a gasket deal with it.
The only ones worrying are those working inside that should be out on the street,Roys old crew.
Commander Mush is the real police. Many years ago when he was a gang specialist he outgunned young Joey Klopek who was a tattooed Two Sixer. Joey's Mama whore his baseball shirt to his funeral and told the news media numerous times that the Police put the tattoo on her boy and "Mush" planted the gun on him. The news kept repeating her tearful blubbering until the gun came back registered to her brother, dead Joey's uncle. Lawsuit dropped, cr# unfounded. This also occurred in the 009th district.
Do not even mention the commander of 009 in the same breath as the Commanders of 11,14 and 25. Dave earned his spot and should be respected. Always the Police and a worker. Dave is not about phony bologna like the other mentioned idiots. The others are not qualified to be handing out towels in a bathroom. If he yelled at someone they most likely deserved it and I personally would rather be yelled at any day of the week than spared.

I can't think of any other commander I ever worked for that backs his officers up on the street, all the time. He is a street cop through and through. Probably didn't work a beat car that much, not sure, but he was in a lot of units and earned his keep. He does warrants with tact all the time, answers calls with the beat cops, what more do u people want? Sorry he isn't that warm and fuzzy for you but he can yell at me all day if that means he's showing up with his rifle to back me up and not some cop with his hands in his vest.

bosses are feeling the squeeze as the numbers are coming down--- the only true measuring stick they have is to compare the numbers from the previous year to this year-- of course they are off because less officers working the street will mean less activity--- the foot guy who was writing three books of parkers a week is now retired and has not been replaced--- oh look, that unit is down a thousand parkers for the first period, lets get on the phone with that commander right now and light a fire under his/her ass--- less officers means less revenue and the call volume must be answered with less officers giving them less time to ride around and hang citations--- whoever told the city they could do more with less sold them a bum steer....

DJ, the real police? Very true.
DJ, bonkers? Equally true.
DJ, a failed manager? Also, true.
Being the real police and being given five meritorious promotions (gang specialist, sergeant, lieutenant, captain and district commander) BECAUSE he was connected and the real police, was no guarantee that DJ would become sane or adept at being a police personnel manager, no matter how much training or education he experienced or how much he impressed another ego-maniac like Dugan, because DJ believes he ALWAYS knows better than everyone else, and he acts on it unless ordered otherwise.
Being connected and the real police got him promoted over and over again, but it did not translate into him becoming sane or becoming a successful manager with people skills. One does not necessarily beget the other two.
Another 025 said; The 025 Commander does not have time to deal with us minions because he is too busy kissing Ald Suarez ass. We now have another foot post on Diversey Avenue, just like the one on Fullerton Avenue. Who the fuck does the Alderman think he is, and why do we need foot patrols on these two avenues. Of course the one on Fullerton is where his office is, not sure why Diversey needs one unless he is sucking up to the grocery store owner at Cicero/Diversey, lots of votes walking in and out those doors.

About 27 years ago, I was lined up on my fifth roll call, next to my FTO, and next to this old-timer who was a pretty nice guy. Screaming and banging shit kept getting closer and in walks the Commander starts yelling up and down the line behind us on the side of us, gets in front of the oldtimer and all of a sudden old timer snaps out and wipes his face off and says very slowly, "I don't give a shit if you want to have a conniption, but don't fucking spit on me again," COmmander glares at him and they stood there locked eye to eye for a while and then he just walks away. Later he told me the asshole didn;t really spit on him, and then he told me a story about how a guy was getting yelled at once and he clutched his chest like he was having a heart attack. FOur months on medical. Another one was the wagon guy who had a sticky gas pedal and had an unfortunate accident with a bosses car who had just picked it up after getting it tuned up for his upcoming furlough. My all time faveorite, dog shit on the door handle. Life before cameras. In the old days the KMA's were the best guys to be around sometimes, funny as shit, bosses rarely got over on them.

I am thinking to myself hey you way over promoted dimwit Captain, listen to your fucking radio and you would know these things. Talk about a morale killer, just another boss on this job whose ship has already sailed.

I can tell you a few...did long term investigations in narcotics that resulted in multi-kilo arrests, as a detective solved the Arnold Morales (CAPS Community leader) Homicide, nailed Fred Dur the sex offender who killed that seven year old girl in englewood (Ryan Harris, I think was her name), as a Sgt in cold case he cleared cases that happened while you still in third grade hoping no one knew that you still wet the bed.
