Quinn's Amazing Budget

You think this jackass just won an election and doesn't really care about the next four years?
  • Gov. Pat Quinn today stressed the need for spending restraint during his annual budget speech today, but largely glossed over the details, instead focusing on voter-friendly ways to boost the economy and create jobs.

  • The speech comes just weeks after Quinn won an income-tax increase to help stabilize the state's troubled finances, and includes $1.7 billion more in spending than last year, a point that drew sharp criticism from Republicans.
What the fuck??? Illinois' debt isn't going to come under control when Quinn is increasing spending by $1.7 billion over last year. It's basic economics. All the smoke is blowing away and the mirrors are cracked. The tax increases are going to remain permanent, businesses are going to flee the state and Illinois will join the rest of the rust belt as shadows of their former selves. This is what passes for leadership in Illinois.

The voters wanted him. Well now we are screwed. Vote any person who us involved in all this out. All 50 Alderman should be voted out for going along with selling the sky way and parking meters. Also for letting him close megs field that made money. Building that crazy Millennium park that cost the tax payers 130,000 pluss and the continued security. Why doesn't everone just vote them out. I'm voting against my alderman of the 11th ward.

Seeing that the Cook County Jail vote provided Gov. Goofy with his winning margin, my question is when are the inmates going to get their own alderman? The new DemocRAT mantra should be: No incarceration without representation.

Are the corporations really paying this new state income tax or are they getting special tax breaks on the down-low under the guise that the corporations are creating the so-called much needed jobs?

Think about it.

For example how much in tax breaks was given to Boeing to move to Willis Tower in Chicago?

It just may be one big snow job meaning that the only people really footing the bill are the middle class suckers.

And did I hear right - SIXTEEN MILLION dollars to restore the Governor's mansion?

Couldn't they build a new one for a quarter of that price?

Better yet, since he doesn't live there (just like what he criticized Blago for), how about you fix the roof and defer the rest of the restoration until there's actually money to pay for it?

The DemocRATS have no shame or common sense. Unbelievably, they want to ding the American taxpayers $68,000,000 for a Ted Kennedy Museum. The building will not showcase, nor mention the Chappaquiddick bridge and the bravery he displayed after this pie-faced, bandy-legged, alcoholic sop dropped Mary Jo in the drink. It is recalled that "Unsteady Teddy" retreated to a motel to review his political future before he called the police. Backers of the project also want "The Happy Hour Hotel" to be built in close proximity to the museum. Rot in hell, Ted.

This bullshit tax increase was a perfect opportunity to turn this state around. Yes, it might have been painful but if it got us out of this mess I could understand it. Now with Quinn going on a spending spree it makes us all look like fools. These fooking Democrats don't know how to stop spending other people's money. At the very least I can sleep knowing that I didn't vote for this clown.

Illinois has delayed the borrowing of $4 billion dollars via a bond sale until next week I hear.

Here's some food for thought.

For every one percent increase in interest rates on that bond that the bond buyers demand it will cost the Illinois taxpayers $40 million dollars in interest.

Imagine what we could do with that interest payment if we were not borrowing and spending!

More importantly are the taxpayers just going to keep putting their trust into these politicians without any accountability?

This has been going on for years. We elect someone and think it's fixed and forget about it and it's not fixed it's more of the same only the names are changed on who's friends are getting the checks

That's where the problem lies, those who voted for him don't pay taxes therefore don't care how much they are raised. Anybody else notice how they keep saying that we are all going to need to tightened our belts a little yet of all the spending cuts, not one cut involves any sort of public handout program. Keep working so his voters don't have to...

Before the election, Quinn's income tax proposal met criticism because he didn't propose any cuts to complement the tax increase. Quinn responded, stating sarcastically that he will cut health care and funding for schools, two obviously important parts of the budget that affect most Illinoisans. He stated this so those who want cuts would back off their criticism.

After the election, Quinn gets the 66% tax increase he wanted, but that still wasn't enough; he again suggests cutting seniors' health care and school funding, as if he couldn't think of ANY waste in the budget that couldn't be cut.

Quinn even went so far as to ask critics what they propose he cuts. Well dumbass, that's YOUR job. Find the waste in the budget and eliminate it. The state is in dire straights.

Mitch may be a little more responsible than Quinn, but this is the same "responsible" Indiana gov that tried to borrow against that hefty $11 billion(?) pension fund to which he got a VERY big "fuck you." Word from the numerous Indiana police, in which I have spoken with is that their pension fund is so well funded that they pay EVERY retired member with only the interest accrued never having to touch the principal. WTF is wrong with our lawmakers here?

OT - Mayoral Debate

Can't vote for Rahm. He will f*ck with our pensions.

Can't vote for CMB. She's sounding more like an idiot every time she opens her mouth.

I waffled between Chico and del Valle until tonight when Chico said he would use Luis Gutierrez as a close advisor, he will keep Chicago a sanctuary city and is a strong advocate for illegal immigrants. Just to make sure everyone understood him, Chico repeated that he looks forward to working with Gutierrez on immigration reform (aka GIVING citizenship to illegals)... WRONG ANSWER! Remember, Chico has been under Daley's wing for decades!

Miguel del Valle will get my vote, hands down, no questions asked. He is 100% in our corner on our pensions. He wants to slash the size of the govt. He's got more balls than all the others combined. I worried that voting for del Valle would hurt Chico and allow Emanual to step right in. Then I just decided that I need to vote for the candidate that I BELIEVE will be the best Mayor of the City of Chicago.

Good luck, Mr. del Valle. You have earned my vote.

16 million is for state of Illinois contracts going to the regular guys, driveway paving by Cellini etc.

If done by honest contractors, about $4 million.

They can build the Gov a new home for around $500,000 and do that for every governor and still be many dollars ahead.

When they need a hall for state events they can rent a Moose Lodge or local high school gym. Or take the money out of the Illinois State Legislators pension fund and let the Vanecko & Walsh Construction Co. do the work.
