Tracking Killers

  • Two men caught and one killed by police fleeing the scene of a double-homicide are suspected in more than a dozen murders involving fake drug deals that turned into robberies, police sources said.

Police killed Arturo Ibarra, 37, of 4521 S. Troy, Saturday night after two people were found killed and a third seriously injured in an Edgewater apartment in the 5800 block of N. Winthrop. Ibarra and two suspects fled the scene and, in a shootout, an officer was shot in the leg and Ibarra was killed, police said.

The suspect, Ibarra and the two men had been under surveillance for months, suspected of being part of a crew that had set up fake cocaine deals of $100,000 or more, according to a source. When the buyer or buyers showed up, they would be robbed and killed, sources said.

The three, who worked for a home remodeling business, are suspected in at least 13 murders, including a quadruple slaying Sept. 2 in the 6100 block of South Kildare, said sources. Noel Casares, Alonso Villarreal, Roberto Rivera and Luis Santillian were found bound and shot in the head in a garage there. One source said they are suspected in the deaths of three men found inside a car last spring in the 2300 block of W. 36th Street.

An exceptional job all around.

Great Job CPD

these scumbags are no good. the rest of us in society work hard everyday, we follow the law, and are decent people. but slimebags/animals such as Arturo Ibarra, are a waste of space.

I 120% respect law enforcement and am greatful to have professionals such as the CPD protecting me, and the rest of the hardworking good people of Chicago.
Keep up the good work.

In Cook County? No death row, and you'll just have to hope for justice in the criminal court system. They are probably just misunderstood undocumented immigrants who were forced into a life of crime by the evil capitalist system.

If only our taxes were higher, we could have had a social justice program in place to save them. We should fund a study on why we don't have something like that in place.

Absolute outstanding POLICE WORK. Should be a teachable moment for the younger officers. Police work IS NOT sandbanging motorists and staying down for an 1 1/2. Police work IS NOT making childish allegations against coworkers and instead focusing on your beat and sector. Police work involves self sacrifice, humility and courage not scorn, immaturity and spite. Great job to those involved, it was one those moments that make you proud.

"Sanctuary City"

There have been dozens of homicides on the streets of Chicago committed by members of the Mexican drug cartels.

These homicides in Chicago will continue as long as the Police Department is ham stringed by the politicians when it comes to their constituents. The taxpayers are with us - go get them. The pandering politicians are keeping us from going after the illegals and the crime they bring.

Who keeps Chicago a "Sanctuary City"?Vote accordingly.

THIS IS WHATS WRONG WITH CITIES, COUNTIES, STATE, AND FEDERAL GOVERMENT. IT IS GOING TO COST 3 FUCKING MILLION DOLLARS TO CREATE A BIKE LANE FOR 8 BLOCKS. ON TOP OF THAT I WILL TAKE 3 YEARS AND NOT BE COMPLETED UNTIL 2014!

YOU CAN HIRE 30 OFFICERS AT $47,000 AVERAGE FOR THREE YEARS WITH 3 MILLION.

City to test new type of bike

Chicago will be testing a new type of bicycle lane called a cycle track.

Unlike current bike lanes that separate bikes from vehicular traffic with paint stripes on the pavement, the new lanes have a barrier or planter box between cars and bikes.

The Chicago Tribune reports a section of Stony Island Avenue between 69th and 77th was selected for the experiment. It's being paid for with a $3 million federal grant.

Construction is expected to be completed by 2014.

This needs to be a headline post SCC. have you heard this little story Yet? Just heard that one of the scumbag lawyers are putting the lawsuit together on this one. But this is where it takes a turn... The bad guy who was shot and killed by the police is NOT the one suing, but the family of the original guys who were killed in the apartment. The family is upset because the officers knew that these guys were killers and were following them and just allowed them to continue to go to this "drug deal". They are contending that the police should have arrested them or stopped and checked them out prior to the deal thus the murders may not have ever happened and the family members would still be alive. They are pretty much claiming that officers who were following and watching them knew that there was a drug deal and that they were killers who have made fake deals before and killed the victims but still allowed them to move around freely without even being stopped for investigation. Im not sure which law firm it is yet but im sure we will know when its filed... This is absolutely pathetic and these scumbag lawyers will do anything to make money. Im about 99.99 percent sure that if this is true the city is a guaranteed winner on this one in a motion or at trial. I hope they get nothing and the officers did a fantastic job all around!

OT - A Testy George Ryan Talks About Prison Life

"...City attorneys questioned him (George Ryan) for two hours about the pardon he gave to Oscar Walden Jr., who had been convicted of rape in 1952 but maintained that his confession was coerced. Walden sued the city, asking for millions, once Ryan approved the pardon, but a federal jury sided with the city last week and didn’t award Walden a dime.

Ryan could offer little if any specific evidence on why he pardoned Walden, but he stridently defended his decision to clear death row and grant mass clemencies as his term as governor was ending.
“I just used my judgment like I did on a lot of things,” Ryan said. “… That’s what’s called leadership.”

@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

Sorry, George. That's not leadership. It's really just being a dumbf*ck!

What an arrogant, air-headed asswipe. Of course that's redundant when you add that he's Illinois' imprisoned former Democratic governor!

Poor Lura Lynn... she thought she was marrying a respectable pharmacist and he turned out to be just a plain old criminal, politician who left her to fend for herself in her time of need while he sits in the federal pen paying for his crimes. Hope you rot in there George, you pos!

__________

So this asshole, as a member of the policy group changes the order for SWAT tryouts so he his eligible to do so, even though the order specifically says you can't if you had been kicked out before for disciplinary reasons. Then, he switches holsters during the shooting portion of the test and gets caught and nothing happens. Then the some sergeants "fail" SWAT school after the school is over. Even though the order says if you complete the school then you get ranked and put on a waiting list. If you aren't good enough you get kicked out and you do not get to complete the school. Well, and at the end of the school, oops, they forgot that Ray Ray told Ak and the others that he would be deferring his start in SWAT. But he told them this before the tryouts so you can't blame them for forgetting. So now, Ak has to announce that some people failed. Too bad it violated the order, but what happened? Nothing. So Ray defers, get promoted to LT and then gets made the 2nd SWAT coordinator. It is like having two Commanders of the same district, doesn't happen. Then he positions himself to teabag the new mayor and get himself a better spot with even more potential of getting himself promoted. I hope those of you in SWAT who sold your integrity to help this asshole get the standard RayRay treatment. Used, abused and left grasping at empty promises. You made SWAT take 5 steps backwards. It was becoming a legit team based on ability, but now you guys have recreated the old HBT phone call team. To do this for Ray? A guy known for lying and cheating his way into everything.

You're probably not going to read this. But since you're such a jerk off I had to respond.

Were you not here 2 weeks ago when 2 TACT guys from 018 with 40+ years on combined picked a panhandler (pimpy arrest) and did not adequately search him? Resulting in one of the receiving a shot to the back?

C'mon now, this hair gel/rogaine cop shit has to end! WE ARE ALL ONE!

And also, this has nothing to do with BEAT/SECTOR BULLSHIT. The officer involved was from GANG INTELLIGENCE.

Daley was on TV tonight -- with a "phalanx" of nanny-mom anti-gunners standing behind him, waving banners of "checkgun.org" or some miserable thing -- DEMANDING A WHOLE RAFT OF NEW GUN LAWS.

This horrible, twisted, disgusting little excuse for a man is a lifelong professional asshole, and he is not going to stop this just because he leaves office here.

...and now the drunken nephew again.

Where's the drunken son these days, by the way?

Wild scene 015 tonight, Chicago and Central -- cars going by like rockets w/lights and sirens -- Channel 5 just showed the aftermath of this "domestic," baby in West Sub, also some kind of offender taken to hospital in some little car with temp tags after "detonation of an improvised device" in building with fifty residents, fire assisting handicapped residents out of building, human services and Red Cross called for clothing and warming buses, whole street blue lights.

This was a f___ing DOMESTIC. Everything but a reactor meltdown and a cattle stampede...

Damn, these people be crazy.

Hey, no foolin'.

IDOC checks for membership in "security threat groups." One of the procedures in R&C -- "Take off your shirt. Turn around."

Duh.

Lot of ink can get you bumped up a few levels, sent to a worse joint. They know what they're looking for.

Does CPD?

Anonymous @ 5:46PM: These were INSIDE murders, remember?

The fine print in the Tribune article is disturbing:
http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/chibrknews-2-surviving-members-of-drug-crew-charged-in-slayings-20110228,0,3125792.story

In December 2002, Ibarra pleaded guilty to a federal indictment after he was discovered with about 1,950 grams of cocaine in his car. He also allegedly drove his car at a U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration agent who was trying to detain him.

In state court, Ibarra — who sometimes used the alias surname Barragan — also pleaded guilty to a drug charge and was sentenced to two years in prison.

Two keys and assaulting a peace officer, and all the feds give him is two years? Sounds like the US Attorney's office isn't any better than CCSA. Marvelous.

"welcome to our sactuary city. viva mexico!" You may not be aware of this but the vast majority of Mexican Americans in Chicago are law abiding citizens. They are not here illegally or seeking sanctuary. Your comment is inciteful not insightful and shows your ignorance of human relations.

___

Hey it's got nothing to do with 'human relations.' The term 'sanctuary city' refers to the ILLEGAL ALIENS in this country and city, not the 'law abiding' citizens who are AMERICANS of Mexican descent. ILLEGAL ALIENS are ILLEGAL! They are breaking US Federal Law just by there mere presence within the borders of the US! Because Daley, et. al. choose not to enforce these laws does not change the fact that they are in fact breaking the law. Bottom line: get rid of the illegals in this country -- and crime WILL go down.

I have to take a second and comment on the post saying that an attorney for the victims of these assholes is contemplating legal action against the CPD for allowing individuals under surveillance to commit murder and agg battery....

OF COURSE an attorney is going to bring those allegations!!! I saw that from the start, and everyone on this blog should have seen it. "You're a police officer, yes?" the deposition will go. "And you believed these individuals had been involved in several other murders that came during drug transaction? And you watched them acquire the materials, and prepare the materials, for another such drug transaction? And you watched them walk into the building where my clients beloved son lived? And what did you do then?"

Yes, these attorneys are bottom feeders. Yes, those slain were drug dealers who dialed up the devil and asked to go dancing. And yes, this is going to be part of a legal case against ther City, the CPD and possible the individual officers involved. I just pray that the Corp Counsel's office says, "we'll see you in court and you can explain why these horrible murderous bastards happened to wander, accidentially, in the home of your little alterboys."

If we enforced the laws here on illegals we would have a health city, with extra cash for pensions and for CITIZENS demands! We need to pack them all in freight cars and ship them back like the cattle they are. I am happy the "dream act" failed and hope the CITIZENS make sure their elected do not bring this bullshit up again! It would give free college to illegal kids while the CITIZENS pay for their kids that belong here!

Heads of CCSAO kept shooting down the wire after GIU and Det. Div continuously did what the ASA's asked. Yet still, the wire request would not be brought to a Judge.

I hope the investigation documents each and every time the request for the wire was brought forward and what the outcome was. Drag the CCSAO in on the lawsuit...yes, they can be sued too.

As a resident of Edgewater I just wanted to give a big thank you to the officers who stuck their neck out and took these assholes down.

We've watched the neighborhood take a turn for the worst around the edges under the current Alderman. I've met the new guy, Osterman, and don't think he will stand for it. Need more beats on the streets. My precint has all of one car assigned to it.

Go to the hospital and knuckle-pop that rubber-stamp rhymin' "reasoning" they teach today at City Colleges at the cop with the bullet wound. Go call him "ignorant."

Go down to the County Morgue where they're piled two-deep in the drawers and make your little speech about "human relations."

You are full of s__t.

"I Heard that the states attorneys would not let CPD get phone wire taps on these shit bags. That probabbly would have saved lives. ASAs Probabbly thought there would be an arrest that would get no conviction, and how can you get to first chair without a 100 percent conviction rate. regardless if it means doing your job or possibly not getting a 100 percent conviction. Think like a politician, no body matters but me. Thanks"

You clearly have no idea what is required to get a wire in this state. It has nothing to do with the likelihood of conviction. It is an investigative tool that CCSAO uses regularly on cases with evidence and potential evidence to meet the legal standard. Get a clue before you go off about what you "heard," Asswipe.
