Million Dollar Bail

  • A Chicago man is charged with attempted murder after police said he sprayed a house with gunfire from an AK-47 rifle.

Judge Adam D. Bourgeois Jr. ordered Maurice Tousant, 32, held in lieu of $1 million bail Saturday on that charge and another count of aggravated discharge of a gun.

Witnesses said Tousant approached the house in the 2800 block of West Monroe Street in the East Garfield Park neighborhood April 3 and shot at a woman and two men who took cover as the bullets ripped through walls and windows, according to a police report.
A million bucks and the only thing this jackass hit was a building. This is what judges ought to be doing regularly.

Hey SCC,

There is another story in the news with the same judge giving a lady a $10,000 bail and is quoted saying "You can not fight the police." Sounds like a stand up judge and more important is pro police. Need more like him.

Looks like the judge has figured out what his fellow judges haven't. It wasn't what the shooter HIT, it was what he INTENDED to do.

Oh, wait; by Preckwinkles standards, this is a non-crime, right?

Someone named Karen Bartuch who is apparently a consultant to 5.11 Uniform and LA Police Gear because of her position as President of the Womens Tactical Association. I will never buy another piece of equipment form either company again. With all the good female Officers on the job, SHE is the best one they could find? Gimme a break. How about LA Police Gear and 5.11 Uniforms partnering up with a female Officer that at least put SOME time on the street and not hiding behind a desk in headquarters.

This is the Daley legacy -- he has completely lost control of the high-rent, core area of his city.

I'm seeing stories of flash-mob wildings at McDonald's in other parts of the country -- you remember that the McD at Chicago and State (subway stop, of course)was shut down for three hours after a seventy-man fight in there.

Now --

Police warn of break-ins at 'high end' stores

5:00 p.m. CDT, April 23, 2011

"North Side detectives are warning businesses in the city’s Near North Police District about burglaries that resulted in many “expensive items” being stolen from three high-end retailers in the last two weeks.

"At least two burglars shattered or broke large plate-glass windows or doors to enter the “high end" stores and steal items including furs, clothing and fashion accessories, according to a police alert issued today by Belmont Area detectives.

“A large inventory of expensive items were removed from each store,” according to the alert..."

They have found the rich people's main stash. Good luck in diverting all this activity out to the old U.S. Steel property at 95th Street for this summer's CloutFest.

this judge is too good to be true... In typical cook county/city of Chicago fashion they will find a way to hide this judge away. I love that he is killing these guys with the bonds...Its great!!! I would love to get him into his own courtroom hearing cases. I can think of only a handful of pro police judges at 26th street that are pro police or at least fair.. Ive been to a certain judge who has tossed every single case out when it comes up for motion. was in the elevator with the private on the way down and he was being professional and decent in our conversation but admitted that he always will file a motion in this particular judges room because he always finds for the motions.. And if its a bench trial your pretty much guaranteed a not guilty but then a stern " you better not be back in my court room blah blah blah"... This same judge also frequents the lavish events held by the private attorneys such as sponsored golf outings, summer picnics at country clubs and wine and dinner junkets thrown by various law firms.... pretty hard to get pampered by the private law firms then find against their case don't you think?????? of course the media never checks on that kind of stuff though... Then it might expose the top lawyers and firms who are in tight with certain producers at channel 7 and 2... yep, its all legit.

Slighty O.T. , But as long as we are talking about judges SCC, I just wanted everyone to know about the 2 m/1 judges on the 3rd floor of 26th and California that have made no secret to the coppers and ASA's that there are too many male african american offenders incarcerated and that was the basis of finding not guilty in some cases.
I am not making this up and have been told as much by ASA's that I have come across. The ASA's said they were keeping tabs on the cases, but I really think this is something that could easily be brought to light (HINT , HINT media! ,FOP!).
It's hard enough getting findings of guilty at that abortion of justice over there, now we have to contend with judges pulling the race card! Just thought you might be interested SCC.

That is part of the reason he is still sitting in the Will County Jail and not on trial.

Making up a law that violates The Constitution just to get him isn't going to cut it and the Will County SAO knows it. The BS rifle charge is proof they don't have shit on him.

Back to the Spar business - I saw the article in the Suntimes

Can someone at MLAS PLEASE contact IAD, Sup’s Office, and offer some advice ASAP? If you get a SPAR, you must file a grievance. Because it’s established precedent in discipline that if management routinely permits employees to violate a rule (such as reviewing case and arrest reports - and it’s debatable whether this even violated a rule), or routinely to follow a certain behavior,

It may NOT suddenly impose discipline for violations without first announcing its intention to begin enforcing the rule.

THIS IS CLEAR.

Now, what’s worse – reviewing the case and arrest report but not disseminating or disseminating information regarding the investigation? Which causes the Department another problem, “Did they conduct a fair investigation”?

This clearly demonstrates that the Department is under incompetent leadership.

BY ABDON M. PALLASCH Legal Affairs Reporter

The Supreme Court of Illinois suspended the law license of Cook County Judge Adam D. Bourgeois Jr. for two months Tuesday for lying on five questions on his application to become a judge.

Bourgeois admitted that he did not mention as required on his application that he defaulted on his student loan. He lied about not being held in contempt of court for failing to pay child support and his student loan. He failed to reveal that the state's lawyer disciplinary agency had investigated complaints against him. He had lied about whether he had ever been sued, failing to mention the suits about his student loan, his missed child support payments, and failing to pay his rent.

Bourgeois was previously sentenced to one month unpaid leave from his job as a judge by the state's Judicial Inquiry Board for failing to mention on his statement of economic interest that he owed money to the state, to the IRS and to a landlord. He also did not mention he had been sued for non-payment of child support.

During the investigation, Bourgeois has been performing marriages and handling other administrative duties.

does it matter? the female officer working the street and going to court, doesn't have the time to run an association. kb started a group for women. 5.11 makes gear for men and women and seek input about their products. since kb is a women and president of a female tactical association she has input on how products work out for a female. its not like she is telling you which jock strap to buy. also how many range officers do you know that were worthless on the street, yet teach at the range. the world isnt perfect. but thats how it turns.

How did the range staff fall into this conversation? I was a hard charger til I came to the Carbine Program and was stuck teaching full time. I consider it an honor to teach my coworkers and I appreciate every moment. Our schedules are often changed on a moments notice, and that's fine. Maybe you could let us know exactly how we don't pull our weight then.

so u know first hand what i'm talking about. i used range as an example. i could've mentioned any other unit in the department, and that quote would've been accurate. there are even guys in swat that were worthless in a beat car. but every unit has its dead weight.

Here's how the Range Staff fell into it: You're all really good shots and in pretty good shape so the only way I can take a potshot at you is from right here baby!
