Two Different Tracks?

There's a process, or so we heard. And Rahm is doing his own thing, too:
  • Mayor-elect Rahm Emanuel today said he's waiting for the police board to submit the names of three finalists for police superintendent so he can name Chicago’s next top cop.

“I have to respect a process, and that’s my goal,” Emanuel said. “I look forward to getting those names.”

The Chicago Police Board must interview candidates, conduct background searches and recommend three finalists. Emanuel has been been doing his own interviews of potential candidates as the police board does its work.
So is the Police Board wasting time if Rahm has his own career track for his picks?

SCC,

I'm no fan of Emmanuel. But, give the guy a break. He probably was just giving a quick answer to a quick question by a dumbass reporter.

Not at all.

This gives the appearance of legitimacy.

Welcome to Chicago!

NYPD Lt, passed 2 promotional exams, past Chicago St Pat's veteran (thanks) Never worked for McCarthy.

I can't comprehend these "clout" promotions. I couldn't fathom working along or for someone who was promoted w/o studying. I think of Rudy Guiliani appointing Bernie Kerik, who never passed a test. Bernie got where he did because he played politics. He was never respected by the bosses since he was never a boss and the street cops saw through his BS. In Bernie's defense, he was an active cop at one time. He became the PC, now he's doing 2 years in prison. I'm sure Rahm hasn't forgotten that. Don't forget about the Ray Kelly-Obama connection. Kelly doesn't take a back seat to anyone, especially the FBI. Is Kelly pushing McCarthy for the CPD, to show up Weis, the FBI? FYI, McCarthy used to play on theNYPD football team up until he went to Newark, he did take his shots. Good luck however it goes, see you in March.

O. T.

Will the current scandal brewing in unit 192 come to light during or after the "major investigation" that the St. Jude mandating Commander and pet Secretary are supposedly overseeing.
Also, will the Commander and his one man band survive after the new regime figures out how much $ and resources have been wasted on a BS investigation initiated by one of Downtown EB's, no time on the job, know it all female "anointee"'.
Will she dodge another detail for the 3rd time in a row?
This is going to be a ruff one folks.
Get it, "ruff"?

Wysinger or McCarthy.....Either one will serve the City well. I like McCarthy's concept of riding in squad cars with Officers....Thats where a boss should be....Hello Rahm, did you hear that ?

Chicago Police Board Picks Three Finalists

... The two finalists from within the Chicago police ranks are Chief of Patrol Eugene Williams and Debra Kirby, Deputy Superintendent for the Bureau of Professional Standards, the sources said. The lone outsider the board picked was Newark, N.J. Police Chief Garry McCarthy, who was a finalist for the Chicago job in 2003, the sources said.

. . . . . Will you stop this B.S.! St Jude is to honor our brothers and sisters and not for your own B.S. CRAP! If you don't intend to attend which you never do anyway, then don't. Uniform inspection is mandatory, if you don't have one then go get one! I am not a fan of the cmdr nor his nazi secretary, but using St. Jude March as a reason . . . . is CRAP! Shame on you! Now on the B.S. investigation, mind your own business and do what you are told to do, and that is your fuc%$#@ job. Jealousy is boiling from within you. Oh, by the way I not a fan of that arrogant PPO either. If you are not happy where you are right now, go back to a district.

She can't be any worse than the F/2 in 009 who just got sent back to midnights.
Sgt. F., just because you are a Sgt. doesn't make you any smarter than the rest of us, so please don't act like it. The more you speak and demand changes on arrest reports, the more we realize you really are clueless.
You defiently have not made any friends from officers on the 2nd or 3rd watch. Good luck on midnights, and good riddence!!

OT --

The delayed coverage of the Royal Wedding on ABC just started here -- and there's Barbara Walters in this cream-colored "power suit," wearing on her left lapel a piece of jewelry that looks exactly like a police star, except for the diamonds.

Hardly the first time I've seen this -- the wearers almost invariably have some sort of authority problem around the insurance office they work in, want to jump the line at the supermarket, etc. Obnoxious.

Almost as bad as the purple satin ecclesiastical-looking sashes the pols have now bought themselves to wear in the statehouse. "ILLINOIS STATE REPRESENTATIVE." "GOVERNOR OF ILLINOIS." A business suit isn't enough anymore.

Remember Kwame Kilpatrick, the sex-mad former mayor of Detroit, who had the word "MAYOR" embroidered on the sleeves of his suit jackets?

Yessir, Miz Baba Wawa. Right away, sir.

Cool your jets on the st jude parade. Everyone in 192 is going. That dudes comment was about ozzies forceful push to make nothing into something. Yes it costs 10 grand a day and they might, just might end up with misdemeanor charges. Blame eb using ozzie and "her" using cmdr. This is another non effective expense incurred by the department under eb's direction. Who's going to get dumped for eb's mistake this time?

.....Of course she will dodge another detail. She was assigned to Unit 192 before meeting minimum qualifications of having five years continuous service, has the least seniority, and manages to push back every one of her furloughs. Her 2F will probably end up becoming 7A/13B. This “major investigation”, which she manages 99 because remember, this is “HER” investigation, should land her on a beat car. Hey 700, I’m sure you have a spot for her....wink wink.
