First Female Superintendent

AdMin Fax out this past Friday.

Terry Hillard's second term ended along with Shortshanks. And the acting Supernintendo?

Bea "the Bartender" Cuello.

So does this count toward her pension? And did she have anything to do with the sudden cancellation of "The Chicago Code"? Because someone said that this town wasn't big enough for two female superintendents, so Jennifer Beals had to go.

Yeah, ok new guy. Ive had to work every one of those riots in the 90s and they are not fun.... Looking back on them now they were a blast but when your in the middle of it you are scared sh*tless. Youve got shots being fired around you, dude takin punches at you in the crowd, dude pullin on your gun and others coppers guns from behind, rocks, brick, bottles and everything else that isnt bolted down thrown at you and your cars and stuff on fire...no, you dont want to go through it, especially if you have a family at home worrying about you. OT: Does anyone know when the new "top cop" takes control? also the last order detailing like 20-30 something Sgts to Disticts for 90 days, I here only half actually went . Can anyone confirm? And why do we need them detailed anyway? what we need is more detectives and PO'S send what ever Sgts were detailed back and give us more PO's.

There never has been a "riot" after a Bulls championship. A riot is where the smoke from the burning buildings is still rising after 4 or 5 days. Where the death toll is in the dozens. Where the entire police department is on 12 hour days, all days off and all furloughs are canceled. Where 7,000 National guard troops are patrolling the streets. Where other agencies are asked to help. Where entire beats burn down.

Calling a Bulls celebration a riot is like calling Grenada a war.

Well if they are working as some of the above mentioned positions they are violating the rules as Chicago police officers are not allowed to be employed at a liquor establishment. So the one who needs to let it go is you. Go have the bartender make you another drink.

Yes, you are correct to mention that a lot of the members came from various backgrounds. Nothing wrong with that. But, a lot of those people tried really hard during their career to better themselves, going back to school for one. Then again, some of our leaders just did not have to worry about that. They had the clout to rise to the highest ranks in the CPD , some with nothing more then a GED. And, they did not have to worry about studying for any promotions tests. Yes, you can say street smarts counts more, and there is a good arguement for that. But, a good education and good training also count, along with some leadership skills. These things are really lacking in the current command structure. Cuello was blessed from the beginning by the HDO.

Any of you who came on after 1998 don't know what its REALLY like. Any of you who weren't working in the ghetto for the previous 6 championships don't really know either.

After dealing with these things in 015, 010 and 011, it was crazy. Eddie King (RIP) had gas teams flying around the west side spraying entire intersections of people. Buildings were torched, and EVERY store with a window was trashed and looted. The next day, the media said there was "sporadic disturbances" on the west side.

Unbelievable!

yep, I actually do remember that. She did a good job. I was a p.o in 008 on her watch that day and she hit that one out of the park. Nobody is ever gonna be liked. Bea was decent and took care of people. Im pretty sure the two who she saved that day have no problems with the position that she is in.. neither do the families of the coppers she helped out.... this department always has and always will have haters on it. Many jealous people who hate the fact that someone else got a gold star and not them. Then youve got the guys who say, "i would turn down that gold star, im no company man." hahaha, yeah ok.. im sure you would pass that star, car pay and pension right up for your beat car... haters will always hate, as im sure haters will respond to this rant hating on it saying that im all wrong... well, so be it.. nobody listens to them bitching at roll call anymore so they have to bitch somewhere

She did a great job, how many fellow coppers lives have you saved? How many bosses can say that? The Dicks didn't have to clean up shit. You obviously weren't there. She always treated us good, was a good boss. I'm not saying she's perfect and hasn't made mistakes, but when you go out there and save a couple of coppers lives, then you can talk smack bout her. "I may not be a salty veteran like you I'm just an Iraq war vet who believe it or not has been in some pretty intense fire fights too... I for one would love to see the Bulls win it all and help in taming the beast..."

Right there with ya'! Hooah! While the Iraq war is similar in that we're on their turf and you don't really know who the enemy is until they act, a big difference is this; even if you do the right thing, you've got a large contingent of scum hoping to sue you and take away your home and/or put you in federal prison.

Unless a fellow P.O., firefighter or innocent victim's life is in jeopardy, let it burn. Cameras are everywhere.

There's no taming these beasts, not as long as society allows them act this way and puts every roadblock they can in front of law enforcement.

We're just an army of occupation. It isn't my neighborhood, let it burn. Look at the west side. Just now, years after they burned it to the ground, are things beginning to be built.

I appreciate your enthusiasm, but you need to temper it with reality.

Thanks for your service.

Bea's shooting in 008 didn't go down like you reported. The detectives did an outstanding job cleaning up that mess. If an M/2 had done what she didn he would still be in prison today. I know because I was there.

You were there, did nothing, said nothing, and today your the jealous lil bitch that the orginal poster was talking about. I cant tell you if she was a good boss after she left 008. But she was a damn good Sgt. when she was there. I dont care if my boss was a bar tender in his or her past. I only give a shit if they are a good boss now.

Well if they are working as some of the above mentioned positions they are violating the rules as Chicago police officers are not allowed to be employed at a liquor establishment. So the one who needs to let it go is you. Go have the bartender make you another drink.

learn how to read dickhead, it says were not is, maybe you should go have another drink....

Doesn't anyone remeber when Bea was a Sergeant in 008. Two of her people were screaming for help. Offender had his hand on one (time on th job) female coppers gun, in old school holster and pretty damn close to removing it. Recruit that was with her stood on porch and froze, did absolutely nothing. Bea drives up, RUNS up the stairs and pumps two into the guys head extremely close up, as not to shoot the female cop he's fighting with or the useless recruit. BEA saves the two coppers, and then goes throught years of court proceedings in Federal court. Don't really know who out there has such a grudge, but when I worked with her she always stood up and cared for her people, even SAVING THEIR LIVES!!!

No they don't because most weren't on the job then, hell, most probably hadn't finished going through puberty then...

Calling a Bulls celebration a riot is like calling Grenada a war.

How about you tell that to families of the 19 KIA, over 150 wounded; how about telling that to the 7000 combat personnel in theatre. Why don't you go to a bar around Ft Bragg and mention your thoughts.

It was short, we overwhelmed the enemy, which included Cuban, East German, Soviets, Bulgarians, and even some North Koreans and Libyans, but it was a WAR !

Was it Iraq1 & 2, Vietnam, Afghanistan,Korea, WW2,,,nobody would ever say that, but troops, incuding a friend of mine died there, and it was a war.

The Random House Dictionary of the English Language defines riot as:
1. a noisy, violent public disordercaused by a group or crowd of persons. 2. A disturbance of the peace by 3 or more persons acting together in a tumultuous manner in carrying out their private purpose. So to Mr. (or Ms) "there has never been a riot after a Bulls championship" your definitions are really whack! Oh, yeah - wear your helmets - saw a brick fly and hit a female P.O. on on the head at Howard and Paulina in 1993 - if not for her helmet, would have been very bad.

"Bea's shooting in 008 went down exactly like they are telling it. I was working that night and was there. She saved at least one coppers life and maybe both the coppers. There are a lot of other bosses you can talk about who have never been the police."

Nice post, Bea.

Bea is good people and I worked with her before.

Some of the best cops I have known over the years have been bar tenders. They have great people skills, good to talk to, will keep your confidences, will make you feel at home, keeps the party going, wants you to get home safe, and always have an eye on the till.

Do you have a problem working with someone with that sort of mindset?
