Impersonator Caught Again?

One of the comments that got lost in last week's blogger meltdown said something about everyone's favorite police impersonator being caught once again, this time with a gun, in the 007th District.

Can anyone confirm if this little bastard was indeed locked up? Without running the reports since the Department is looking to hand out days.

I can't remember what day this happened, but a fax did come over about an impersonator being missing from some type of home, so I ran the RD and also looked at a pic. Yes, it's the same guy. No, I'm not worried about accessing the report, because I was honestly looking for a picture of a police impersonator so I'd know him if I ever saw him. I'm truly not concerned about getting jammed up for it. We should ALL see what this goofball looks like--the fax did mention something about him having unknown mental problems. He's a nut, and he'll continue to impersonate...

While on the topic of the department handing out days.....

When the hammer falls on whoever's responsible for the following, they'll WISH all they were gonna get were days:

Rumblings from a certain west side district that supervisors from the Rubber Gun Unit, AKA "Fort Forgotten" came in to inventory a "found" laptop that had been sitting unattended at Callback for a little while.

After failing to hunt down anyone looking for a lost PC and prior to inventorying it as found property, they had some computer geek from forensics break into it to determine ownership. Ownership was indeed discovered. Only problem???? It was discovered to be taken in a burglary in a nearby suburb. Aaawww shit!!!!!

Better yet!!! The carrying case in which it was found also contained a copy of the case report that recently got a couple hundred coppers in trouble...complete with the officer's PC# at the bottom of said report. While circumstantial at best, the guy/gal that printed that particular report is gonna have some 'splainin' to do.

This oughta be interesting to say the least.

Your firearm is the life-saving tool of your profession. If you aren't looking at it every day, prior to holstering it, it's your own fault if it fails.

It's damn ridiculous to expect a supervisor, who may actually know less about firearms than you do, to see some deficiency.

Firearms inspections are unnecessary. My W/C doesn't inspect my car prior to going on patrol, and I'm more likely to get killed in that death trap than I am because I failed to properly check my firearm.

The even better part of the story is how hard the Tru unit tried to steal the arrest from the 007th District coppers...

Maybe SCC can post something about this.

Yes, I think the weekly firearm inspections should be a thing of the past. They have been around since the firearm was invented. But, an occasional inspection is still needed, for cleanliness. During my time, I have found many weapons that were rusty and ill-maintained. Unfortunately, some lunk heads have to be saved from themselves. The whole issue of carrying the prescribed ammo? You are adults, you know what to carry. If you don't and use that ammo or get caught with it, then their are consequences. I never liked to be the baby sitter and preferred to treat the officers like adults and expect them to act so. On occasion, I was disappointed, but no enough to warrent the nanny treatment.

speaking of impersonators, who's the moron on days in 011 that leaves her rifle lying around the roll call room unattended for 15 minutes while the watch hits the street? if she spent as much time on attending her weapon than she spends attending on lieutenants and the commander, maybe she'd remember it.

McCarthy go to every district the captain starts roll call 10 minutes late and police officers are still late
captain is a political appointment and 90 % of captains were merit sgt and lt , most lt's don't waste their time applying
captains do not enforce roll call starting times , uniform and grooming standards or officers leaving early and sgt holding time due slip , cpd supervision is a joke and needs a complete overhaul

suggestion start rotating captains from their present assignment every 3 months , most will retire

Hey assmunch, why would you be interviewing another officer's arrestee? Did you get the officer's permission and mirandize the offender? You sound like you need a clue. Some of the poorest policing("strong scent of burnt cannabis yielded one hand rolled cigarette") is done by the
jokers in TRU. But you will all be back in the ghetto on retread VERY soon.

the ONLY thing a Supervisor should do at roll calls relative to firearms is to make sure there is one in every officers holster. These pencil pushers should only inspect a weapon personally if they've had additional training with EVERY type handgun authorized for carry. Weapons inspections should be held on the firing range by Range Supervisors only. Once in the mid 80's we had an old drunkey irish Captain, [probably one of obamas relatives] who would inspect the troops revolvers, but shook so much that everyone was always worried about being shot by this old shaky Coot.

I'm a lieutenant, and on one weapon inspection I conducted at roll call I had one officer's cylinder fall out of his revolver, right into my hand. Talk a crappy ass gun...so yes, they ARE necessary. And I've made a lot of officers clean their semi-autos too. I've seen so much dust in some of them that I'm sure the slide hadn't been oiled for an entire season (spring, summer, fall or winter), and that's just too damn long to go without stripping down your weapon, cleaning, lubricating and wiping down the excess oil from your weapon. Treat it right, practice regularly at the range, and it just might save your life when you need it to.
