Inauguration Day

Someone said "Swear him in" and Rahm embarrassed everyone by letting off a string of four-letter words. The judge actually dropped the bible.

Strap in people. The next four years just got really really interesting.

Hey Rahmbo you said your cutting salaries for the city non-union employees and cutting wherever you can! Maybe you can talk to susie mendoza the new city clerk seems she just terminated some emploees in "non-essential" areas and now is hiring her own clout team! Rahm could you maybe cut that out of control spending??

OK, so from conspiracy land, I have a conspiracy.

Rahm is somewhat tied into the hedge fund community, and the hedge fund community has some of the best information anywhere on what is happening in the U.S. and the world.

My proposal is that Rahm has seen the future, and Chicago might actually have a good future.

In an agricultural heartland? Check. Lots of other places in the world are worried about their future food supplies. Chicago looks to be okay.

Access and control of freshwater supplies? Check. Lots of places even in the U.S. are worried about their future freshwater supplies.

Urban? Take a look at peak oil, or the Oil Drum blog, or reports from the government funded international energy agency. Cities might be the ONLY future for most folks going forward.

Food, water, oil. My theory is that Rahm has good information about what is happening in the world, and realizes that Chicago (and perhaps the other northern U.S. cities on the great lakes) are the best place to be going forward.

SCC, sorry for the length.

Hey TEN-ONE squad -- someone just swore at shortshanks and we're in a foot pursuit.

You're kidding me right?

Come on people!!!

A man yells "fuck the mayor" at Shortshanks and it ends up in a foot chase with a copper almost getting run over by a CTA bus to arrest the perp!

What the hell are you thinking??? Tell me what?

Was it worth it? Risking your life because someone shouted an obscenity?

I'll tell ya, this is one warped twisted society if you think so.

The USA constitution is being made a mockery of.

The right to bear arms is one example... right here in this specific case we have the right to free speech, and just recently in Indiana where the courts gave their blessing of law enforcement to kick in the doors of peoples homes without probably cause without a search warrant we have the 4th amendment being violated.

Think people!

What are you guys trying to turn this place into??

Anyways..

Cop hit by bus while arresting man who swore at mayor

A Chicago Police officer was struck by a CTA bus while chasing a man who allegedly swore at Mayor Daley as he was leaving City Hall Friday for the last time as mayor.

About 4:45 p.m. Friday, as a crowd gathered to watch Daley say goodbye to City Hall, Janusz Kopycinski, 30, allegedly yelled “F - - - the mayor,’’ police said.

http://www.suntimes.com/5380485-417/cop-hit-by-bus-while-arresting-man-who-swore-at-mayor.html

Oh yeah..with all the shit going down in this city this can not be tolerated.

We must tie up the court system and the manpower necessary to capture and take this criminal to trial to teach him a lesson -- make him repent his ways.

Congratulations Mr Mayor I wish you luck in your new position. If you want to boost morale and fix something that was wrong from the start bring home Bill Cozzi. He sits in a prison cell in Louisiana being punished twice for a mistake he made.

We all agree and so does he he was wrong, he made a mistake and served his time. Then he was given a second dose of time to serve, this time far away from home behind bars.

As a public servant I enjoy helping people and doing the right thing on a daily basis. My fellow brothers and sisters and I put our lives on the line every day we go to work and we do this with a smile.

Mr Mayor you may not know this yet but there are a lot of wonderful men and women who work for this city in many different capacities and I am proud to tell you I am proud to be a member of the police family, and so is Bill.

Please Mr Mayor fix something that was broken. Please bring Bill Cozzi back home. He made a mistake and paid for it. Then he was used as a pawn and punished a second time.

We all proudly serve the fine city of Chicago and I ask you to please look into bringing Bill back home where he belongs. He has been excessively punished.

As I have stated we do not condone his actions that day but we stand united against the miscarriage of justice that has befallen Bill.

Please Mr Mayor, bring Bill home.
Free Bill Cozzi.
Respectfully

Bob Cavaiani

Daley's Pension
Remember, it's all those greedy police officers and fire fighters bankrupting the state:

The Shankster will be receiving government pensions totaling nearly $200,000 a year.

Mayor Daley has already notified the Municipal and General Assembly Retirement Systems he wants to begin collecting his pension on May 17, the day after he leaves office.

When he does, Dingbat Daley will be collecting a pension of nearly $184,000 a year. Of that, 64 percent will come from the state pension system and 36 percent will come from the city pension system.

[...] Daley has not been in the state legislature since 1980.

And, because Dingbat Daley has about 40 years of government service, he's eligible to receive the maximum of 85 percent of that mayor salary.

When The Shankster left the state legislature in November 1980, his salary was $53,000 a year. The state portion of Daley's pension will come to more than $117,000 a year. More than $66,000 a year will come from the city pension system.

Go figure that one out. The pension fund Daley is drawing from has liabilities that are four times the current assets of the fund.

But the evil police and fire fighters who spend 20, 30 even 40 years damaging their bodies and sacrificing personal time with their families, might top out at $60,000 a year to live out their already statistically shortened life spans.

And to add insult to injury; the city to provide this undeserving asshole with a 5 man security detail and two cars!!! This is the same little punk who fought every provision for the average citizen to arm and defend themselves against the predatory animals that are flowing out of the ghetto and attacking law abiding citizens.

To paraphrase an Irish saying: I hope the devil knows your coming a week before you get to hell, you miserable little prick. Good Riddance, you pathetic motherfucker!!!

Mayor Rahm sounds good and let's hope he can deliver change to the city and CPD . Let's start with more officers on the street by replacing the office police with civilians . Remember the less manpower he has to hire , means a better chance for current CPD Officers to keep benefits and receive pay raises . Let's cut supervisor ranks across the board by 20 % . Eliminate the Captain rank in district patrol and maybe use captain rank to replace commander exempt staff . This will save our pension fund . Cut back on tactical officers , maybe two,
6 man teams in uniform .
1 lt per watch and assign remainder lt's to an area to fill in as needed .
cut tact lt position , don't need a lt for 3 sgt and 24 officers
close 13 and 21 police districts, only 9 beat cars , no lock up , this will free up office police and many supervisors
good luck Supt. McCarthy , Rahm gave you the ball so run with it

Remember, we are not paid to be murder victims. God Bless the CPD and our fallen from 2010. link posted below. www.nytimes.com/aponline/2011/05/16/us/politics/AP-US-Police-Killings.html?hp

off topic but interesting. Look for some federal activity to start up again...Not among the police department but at the FEDERAL BUILDING! I hear that a few clerks at the federal court building are about to bet indicted for taking money to assign certain cases to certain judges. The reason this effects us is because it was being done by several lawyers involved in civil cases, some of those cases which involved the city and police department getting sued. I would imagine that the lawyers would have to get indicted too right.. and if the lawyers are trying to get certain cases to a certain judge does this mean that the judge has knowledge of it and is just as liable?? Even though they are jury trials the judges have plenty of influence over these cases by granting or denying motions that make or break the case and demanding in some cases that a settlement be reached and for it to not go to trial. I would call this a rumor but according to the guy I talked to(ATF AGENT) he/she is very in the know at the federal building and very buddy buddy with the federal prosecutors.... sit back and watch, it could get interesting...

Off-Topic:

Can you imagine CPD giving a promotional exam...and nobody signed up to take it? Or showed up to take it? Sounds crazy, right?

Well, that is exactly what's happened at the University of Chicago PD. How could this happen? Two words:
John Doty.

Doty has got the be the most hated man ever in the employ of the UCPD. From watch commanders to the newest rookie patrolman, you won't find anyone with a kind word to say about this guy. Even our civilians do everything in their power to avoid speaking to him.

A new Sgt./Lt. promotional exam was announced.
A few (maybe 3) showed up for the pre-test seminar.
It was expected that someone would register online to apply for the promo exams. But no one did. And that pissed off the upper command. Phone calls soon started. People were called at home, at all hours, and 'urged to apply to take the test.' Now the
calls have turned into threatening phone calls. 'Take the test unless you don't plan on working here in the near future.' Now, patrolmen here do have a representative union, the PBPA. But unlike your FOP, our union, and our reps, are very weak here. If the University doesn't want to negotiate on a particular issue, it's simply not negotiated (like marriage leave, we don't have it because the U refuses to discuss it).
Doty took away holiday pay for the evening shift a little more than a year ago because the evening shift people 'only work for half the holiday (6pm/6am, 7pm/7am). Most of us feel that it's senseless to take a promotional exam, when Doty has already promoted selected patrolmen to 'interim Lts.' already, bypassing the rank of Sgt. completely.
What seems to be the point, when our idiot chief and the university have given Doty carte blanche to do pretty much any damn thing he wants, even if it makes no sense whatsoever? We know you guys have suffered under Weis; I'm sure from what I've heard that a number of you even suffered if you worked for this assclown Doty, but at least he wasn't the number 2 man in your organization. The CPD should be glad to rid of this idiot. We worked under Rudy Nimocks here for a little more than 20 years with very little ripples in the water. Doty has brought us nothing but a tsunami of shit for a little more than 2 years now, and we can't wait until it ends.

You people that keep hoping for change, here's an idea: shit in one hand and wish in another. See which one gets filled first! Believe me, I do NOT want to be cynical, I believe it goes against my nature but COME ON! Neither 9.5 or shortshanks could really give 2 shits about ANY city employees. Listen up, both are rich and have lived the good life for a very long time. On top of which, both are egomaniacs. Couple that with the fact that they never truly worked are hard day in their lives, so the chances that they are sympathetic to us poor bottom feeders is just ludicrous.
Your chosen one on Pennsylvania Ave. is the leader of pipe dreams. Notice since the white guilt jagoffs put him in power, not too much has changed. Want to know why? Things were put in place for reason. Same thing here in Chicago. Sure 9.5 will talk a big game, just like his old boss did. Then the back pedaling starts and the shell game begins with "renaming different positions" with new people under different titles. It's all a game boys and girls don't buy the bullshit.
Keep drinking the koolaid and listen to the media, I'm sure they'll feed you the answers you want to hear

I would advise you to stay away. This year and last year there are incidents of wildings by groups of 20 to 100 young African American males. They take the subway into downtown and then go right into stores and steal merchandise, they sorround citizens and steal and beat the hell out of them and they just randomly attack citizens (white citizens in particular).

The media hasn't even reported this extensively. This year is much worse than last year. We the police in Chicago are short in manpower and you my friend has been warned.

A lot of people think they will be safe in "the safe tourist areas". Think again. The animals are coming out to attack and they have no fear of the police.

A little info on FOP regarding the new retiree health care costs
A few were complaining the costs went up like $100
Annuitant Healthcare Rate Changes

Retirees who are participants in the City's Retiree Healthcare Benefits received a letter over the weekend that advised changes in healthcare rates. These new rates will go into effect on July 1, 2011.

The Settlement Health Care Plans for eligible Annuitants of the City of Chicago became effective September 1, 2003. Under the 2003 settlement, an annuitant's healthcare premium is determined by a formula, which is based on a projection for each year's healthcare costs. These projections are developed by an actuary hired by the City of Chicago and the Pension Funds. The annuitant's monthly costs for Medicare eligible retirees have been reduced by approximately 10%. Non-Medicare retirees will see an increase of approximately 15%.

The Lodge will continue to monitor the increases as we have since 2005. If any retirees have been overcharged by the City, we will seek refunds as we have done in the past.

Do not be afraid to bring your family down to the lake front. I have my family there numerous times during the year. As in any areas, there are occasional problems. How ever during the day, downtown Chicago is a great place to spend the day. Make sure you spend some time on Navy Pier, I also recommend the Shed Aquarium.

The Museums are are also a good time. Don't know when you are planing your trip. Two of our favorite days are the Air and Water show and the Tall Ships festival.

Please enjoy the city, the skyline just after dark is amazing. As with any place you go just stay alert and enjoy the sites!

Corrupt officials like Cong Danny Davis and do nothing Bobby Rush are the reason these savages think they can rob, rape and pillage unmolested. if you want the rest of Chicago tollok like the west side, keep letting these cowardly savages run wild. They are the ones who embrarrased teh city, not Mayor Emanuel, he met them toe to toe and let them know he can curse and act an ass and will kick their asses becasue he is the mayor and they are woman beating cowards and thieves.

McCarthy , Rahm gave you the ball so run with it
lot of slackers running CPD

You sir are an idiot!

And you think I'm going to make sacrifices? FU! Until you cut about half of the thieving aldercreatures, at least half of the incompetent merit hacks your predecessor handed jobs to, stop pissing money away on useless shit like a drunken sailor on shore leave, bring some credibility back to this department, hire the 1000 officers you promised, etc, etc, etc... Rahm continuously spoke of the "people of chicago" during his speech. Immediately after his speech the reporters interviewed Gutierrez and Jesse Jackass Jr. who spoke only of the Hispanic and Black people of Chicago. If you want real change you're going to have to clean house of individuals like this who are only concerned about "their people" and want to keep society divided for their own personal ($)gain. I consider anyone who obeys the law, works or is actively looking for work, pays their taxes, and positively contributes to society to be a fellow citizen of Chicago. Anyone else is a parasite that needs to be scrubbed away.

Hey Longtime P.O. I dont have to correct or clarify the law for you, you being a copper should and do know it. I dont want anything to get lost in translation. As I have said and as Bill has said himself he made a mistake. What is not right is that he should not be punished twice. We all know the facts and we are not out there to be punching bags but we must always be aware of our surroundings and have eyes in the backs of our heads. To the other poster I agree that the Mayor himself cannot overturn a courts ruling. But what I want to do is to make sure that it is known that Bill has not been forgotten. And keep one thing in mind it can be anyone of the rest of us.

I know that its a long shot, but its worth a chance that maybe the mayor or the new Superintendent may read this and realize that a great way to rekick start this department in a positive direction would be to right a wrong.

Bill served his sentence, paid his dues, did his time, and to get punished a second time is not right. I was told yesterday that a white shirt said that we should just forget about Bill and wait for him to get out. Do you all really believe that to be right. I dont.

Bill served the department in a positive way for many years and served his country in the military also. Bill doesnt deserve to be sitting in a 4 by 6 cell.

Bill should be home.

How about some positive posts that can get back to Bill and fuel his support tank, that would be a good thing.

And please if you know him, if you dont know him take it from me Bill is a good guy, would help out ANYONE and give you the shirt off his back. Bill made a mistake and paid his debt to society.

Bill should come home !!

If you have time please drop Bill a line. Of course SCC has his info posted on the home page of the SCC site.

write him, let him know we are thinking of him and to stay strong.

Free and REMEMBER Bill Cozzi

I am amazed that most Chicago media are still getting away with ignoring it, especially Chicago Breaking News that is first up with a misspelled headline every time somebody in the city slaps someone else. I still subscribe to the Tribune--though I no longer trust what it says, mostly I get it for the funnies and also so I can shake my head at the bias--and I think they need to be called out on it. I don't comment on their web sites any more because you now have to register and be spammed. I'm looking for a place where the truth can be told, and so far this is it.

What? Sorry, no far-seeing "survival scenario" here. You're dreaming. It's not as though Emanuel, the Daleys, and all the other looters are going to build a wall around the city and keep the resources for the citizenry.

Quite the opposite. Everything will continue to be sold to the highest bidder -- or outright given away to "poor countries" at the expense of the taxpayer -- while the wide-open Sanctuary City continues to fill with illegal aliens.

We give resources -- we receive in return the surplus population of the Third World. Sounds like a fair trade, huh?

How come Rahm's shared sacrifice mantra is only meant for the little guys, the peons, employee's and taxpayers?
The politicians subscribe to the shared sacrifice theory as long as they don't have to directly participate.
Ritchie Daley leaves office, steps into $185,000 a year pension, $1 million plus in his campaign fund, free premium health care and that's not enough for him. He wants to further fleece the taxpayers by insisting on 5 butlers(bodyguards) and 2 vehicles. All on the city's dime. Minimal costs for all that probably $750,000 a year! So much for shared sacrifice huh?

I have been observing some things here with the new mayor, Rahm, the inauguration and all. who attended.. Some very respected individuals but also some not too friendly to the police. I noticed that Fr. Pfleger was present and was shaking hands with the new superintendent Mr. McCarthy. Now this may not seem like a big deal but Fr. Pfleger was part of the new mayor’s transition team. Chuck Goudy pointed this out on Channel 7 news. He saw something too. A recent article in the FOP News letter by Fr. Tom Nangle says that a “high ranking police official” told him that they are going to replace the CPD Chaplains with “community based clergy.” I hope you are all getting the picture. Fr. Nangle says high ranking police officers lack moral courage and should try to prevent this because it is not a good idea. I agree, in fact it is a terrible idea. That lets the “reverends” be right were they want. As far as lacking “moral courage” is concerned, or lack of it, did not occur over night. I have seen this for years, “high ranking police officials” knowing that the decisions made to discipline, fire or somehow hurt other officers in trouble were out and out wrong, or could have been handled a different way to show helping a fellow police officer is the right thing to do not the wrong thing. But too afraid of loosing their “spot” or “going against the boss”. God forbid. Well to quote a phrase from one of our president’s close advisors, “the chickens are coming home to roost”. Moral Courage and you wonder why we all use Anonymous.

I am not a cop, but I agree that Officer Bill Cozzi has been treated in a manner most unfair. In my opinion, he should be released from the Louisiana hellhole and be reinstated as an Officer, with all benefits he is entitled to, pension included.

There is a real miscarriage of justice here. If Officer Cozzi were a minority, I think the situation would be entirely different. I certainly hope he has recourse.

To all CPD officers and first responders everywhere, you have my respect and gratitude. And to Officer Bill Cozzi, you are in my prayers. May you all stay safe and go home to your loved ones at the end of the day.

'There is a real miscarriage of justice here. If Officer Cozzi were a minority, I think the situation would be entirely different. I certainly hope he has recourse.'

Glad to hear you support Cozzi, but I'm glad you're not a cop. I too was sorry to see Bill sent to federal prison for what occurred, but all things considered, he should have been fired by the Police Board. It would have saved him from the additional wear & tear that Weis put upon him, but what he did simply cannot be justified, whether the officer who did this was black, white, latino, whatever. There is simply
no excuse for beating a drunken bum who is cuffed
and seated in a chair (or even a wheelchair). None.
Obviously, Bill lost it, and he has admitted that what he did was a serious lapse in judgement, but no dept. can afford to have officers committing acts like this today. While I don't think Bill should have had to go to prison for this, the Police Board failed to do their job. But what Weis did to Cozzi was even worse, because a measure of justice had already been meted out to Bill, and he had accepted it and paid the price as handed down by the Board & the ASA's office. At least Weis could have spoken directly to Bill and given him a choice of resigning
or face additional Federal scrutiny for what had occurred; Weis didn't even have the decency to do
that. I'm sure Bill would have walked on his own if
he had been given that option, he'd be collecting
a pension, and Weis would have been able to show
the public that he was serious about cleaning up things, and everybody would have moved on.

Daley took his fathers desk. The same desk that Harold Washington saved out of the city hall basement and had restored. I beleave that this desk is the tax payers desk.

Daley never has enough.

Unfortunately, Harold made two mistakes: desk restoration and health negligence. :(

On a few newscasts, I heard: "Daley took all the furniture". What a cheapskate!

Most likely, Daley II has a whole room devoted to Daley I. Isn't that enough memorabilia?

Check E-Bay, there'll be a new seller called "Poor Richard" selling Shitcago Mayoral memorabilia real soon.
