Tough Times?

  • Gov. Pat Quinn’s budget office spokeswoman will be making nearly 50 percent more money after receiving an additional job title this spring.

Kelly Ann Krapf, a former broadcast reporter who uses the name Kelly Kraft, received a salary boost from about $71,000 to more than $105,000.

  • Last year, an Associated Press analysis revealed that Quinn had given 43 salary increases averaging 11.4 percent to 35 staffers over the previous 15 months. The raises were handed out at the same time Quinn was proclaiming a message of “shared sacrifice” and calling for deep spending cuts because of the state’s financial crisis. A Quinn spokeswoman said half of those salary increases were the result of a promotion or a change in job title with an added workload.
But hey, enjoy that income tax hike, corporate tax hike and double digit unemployment Illinois! And you better not even think about owning a gun for personal protection, you dirty serfs. Don't be getting ideas above your station in life.

OT: But worth the read!

http://www.savethenews.org/changethechannels/market-detail/769/chicago-il

Chicago is the nation's third-largest radio and television market. Despite its size, Chicago is dominated by a handful of media companies. Just four companies control most of the local news market. Tribune Company alone controls nearly one-fifth of the local news market for the entire Chicago area.

A Local News Sharing Agreement between four stations (CBS, NBC, FOX and CW affiliates) combines journalists, crew and editorial staff to produce a single newscast. News crews from each station are coordinated by a single editor to ensure that no two stations cover the same story. The footage collected is shared between the stations.

To make matters worse, the bankrupt Tribune Company, which participates in the Local News Sharing Agreement with CW affiliate WGN, also owns radio station WGN-AM and flagship paper The Chicago Tribune, a level of concentration that violates FCC rules. To avoid selling any of the properties, the Tribune Co. asked the FCC to temporarily waive its rules. The FCC agreed, despite public outcry and the arrangement's dubious legality. Now, Tribune wants to make those waivers permanent, which would allow the company to sell several Chicago media properties in one consolidated "package" to the highest bidder. If the FCC agrees, the move would permanently consolidate the city's media landscape.

Yeah how bad is it?

Well you have to stoop pretty low to take taxpayer money that has been designated to go to a charity and use it to fund your corporate tax break programs.

They call it borrowing but isn't that what you would expect them to say -- like the man with his hand stuck in the cookie jar robbing the gold coins that he has seen someone toss in the salvation army Santa bell ringer kettle.

As he's cuffed and dragged off -- "but I was only borrowing the money -- I-I-I was going to pay it back"

Yeah right!

I don't think we even know who the good guys are anymore.

---clip--

Illinois borrowing tax funds intended for charities

CHAMPAIGN -- Illinois has borrowed more than $1 million this year to help cover its own expenses from money taxpayers give to charity.

The state government has borrowed about $1.17 million this fiscal year from money that Illinois taxpayers designate on their tax returns for charitable use, The News-Gazette in Champaign reported

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/chi-illinois-borrowing-tax-funds-intended-for-charities-20110626,0,1028067.story

---------------

So think for a minute how seriously f%$Ked up this is.

The story says that the State has to pay the money back withing 18 months with interest.

So when you donate to a charity using the check box on your tax form. The state pockets the money for up to 18 months racking up interest charges on the loan and the state will have to raise your taxes to pay for that loan.

What a circle jerk!

These people need to go.

OT I just heard on WBBM that the state is using the charity portion of our 2010 tax returns to pay down the budget shortfall. So, if you designated that $100 of your 2010 State of Illinois Tax refund was to go to wildlife, cancer or any other charity listed on the 2010 return, forget about it.

charity when you file your Illinois
State income tax return is being
used by the state to pay it's bills ? And the State has promised
to repay the money at 18% interest. Yeah right, and pay no

Quinn, who for years was on the outside looking in and who was very critical of governemnt and its inefficiency and high taxes and corruption, finally got a position of power. And, guess what happens? He becomes what he has always been critical of: a lazy, political hack who is more concerned with his political party and the well beings of its members then the voters. By approving the new districts map in Illinois and calling that fair, he is a hypocrit. By threatening cuts in essential services instead of going after some of the 8000 useless government boards and agencies in this state he is a phony. Well I did not vote for him and I will not vote for him in the future. He is afraid of Madigan.

How about the CPS hefty pay raises for the top officials including Island Boy Brizzard. And then they insult the working teachers by taking away their 4% pay raise. On top of that they want a longer school day, visits to students homes, and pay raises based performance. Brizzard had "silent rooms" at his last gig where he sent unhappy brooding teachers who didn't follow the flow. Chicago better rent out the United Center because there will be plenty of candidates for brooding.

The sad truth is this:
The citizens of Illinois knew all this about Quinn, but still choose to elect him.
The Democratic Party, which in my opinion, is hell bent on turning this country into a socialist country.
They have designed the voting districts so they can't lose.

Federal government takes over fund with ties to Daley’s son, Patrick

A Chicago venture capital fund whose projects paid more than $1.2 million to former Mayor Richard M. Daley’s son has been taken over by the federal government, which says the fund owes taxpayers $21.4 million.

Cardinal Growth L.P. — which was run by attorney and former federal prosecutor Robert Bobb Jr. and accountant Joseph McInerney, a close friend of Daley’s son, Patrick Daley — borrowed nearly $51 million from the U.S. Small Business Administration over the past decade but has been unable to repay $21.4 million, court records show.

We must all share the sacrifice necessary to make Illinois a better state. Your share is higher taxes and fewer services. The Governor's share is that he must steal from a smaller pie than if the economy were doing better. I know it doesn't sound equal, so maybe we should raise your taxes again.

Look at the test scores, graduation rates, college completion rates of CPS Rhodes Scholars.
Oh, and CPS has the shortest school day and school year in the nation, just go to any suburb and compare their school year and day compared to CPS.

Oh, and CPS 'Teachers' are already the highest paid big city teachers in the nation. And when was the last time you saw a CPS employee sending their kids to a CPS school?

More tough times! The clout insider politics still stick together! I think Jesse White secretary of state must becoming senile. Why? many great people, that are honest need good paying jobs so i was not surprised when I went to Jesse Whites facility on Lexington and who was in charge none other that the guy who was fired from the old city clerk's office Laski, his friend Raymond Drish was a boss for Jesse White. Drish was fired for altering time sheets and porn on his city computer. Working for the old IG had it's advantages whereas the falsely accused could be helped and the others like Drish would be terminated. Drish was saying his brother John who was recently fired from the clerk's office was working for Jesse White at another facility.

Oh it gets better, the story was that Michael (Mick) Jones turned on Laski and wore a wire, but I was told that Laski and Jones were meeting and having breakfast at the breakfast at southern Bell pancake house in Bedford park, unbelievable I thought,so i went there last Thursday and there were the 2 felons having breakfast wonder when they will turn up in high paid positions working for Jesse White? My Brother is CPD and knowing what you guys and gals go through everyday things like this make me sick. Guess if your a hard working copper you get nothing, like they did to Bill Cozzi,if your corrupt you make out well!

Bet majority of voters are direct benefactors of government largess, whether via welfare, government employment, government contract, etc. Corruption in government is protected by majority voters' personal interest in maintaining status quo. If I had a government job that req'd 50% of my time, gave me a car, a credit card, and little taxing of my intellectual abilities, then I too would be a Quinn supporter, just as I would have been a Stroger and a Daley Machine supporter.

Anyone ever consider that Blago faced investigation and arrest only because he was a political outsider, particularly after he broke with his king-maker FIL Mell. Blago's political network seemed to be composed of corrupted immigrant entrepreneurs, not Daley Machine native Chicagoans, lots of West Asians and Eastern Europeans and far fewer sharp-suited attorneys.

Also thought last night's WTTW discussion on Blago's financial troubles' impact on his daughters. Mell will take care of his daughter and granddaughters, but price is imprisonment for his mavericky SIL.
