Wildings - With Guns

Remember Rahm's bold statements from four days ago?
  • Mayor Rahm Emanuel says he’s confident the city has a plan to prevent any more mob attacks this weekend.

[....] “But I'm confident in the public safety of our city regardless of what neighborhood you live in. And that we have a strategy of putting more resources, of putting police on the street which is where we need to put those resources. So I am confident as it relates not just to this weekend, but during the week and every weekend in every neighborhood."

  • A 15-year-old boy was mugged at gunpoint and struck on the head by a group of teens near the Ogilvie Transportation Center in the West Loop on Tuesday evening.

The incident happened about 6:30 p.m. near an alley at 101 N. Clinton St., according to police News Affairs Officer [...].

The victim was approached by a group of seven male teens,....

One, who was armed with a handgun, approached the victim and demanded his money, according to police. A second teen struck the victim on the back of his head,....

The group got the boy's cell phone, cash and a bus card, police said.

Rahm had another press conference:

We're betting he drops that "f-bomb" any day now.

Hackensack Mac what gang are wilders in? Are they at the top of the list yet? How is the MLD eradication project going? Shouldn't we going after the Kings now because they are responsible for a murder and shooting in 25. Then one of their members tries to kill a police officer, who thankfully bravely defends himself. Don't worry you carpet bagging piece of shit just go and have another press conference and play to the camera.

Heard Preckwinkle and Alvarez on the news talking about how these mod attacks have been going on for years. Alvarez made it sound like no big deal and Preckwinkle said it is only news because it is happening downtown. Well Anita, these have been going on for almost a year now, not years downtown and your office has done little to actually prosecute these thugs to the full extent of the law. And for Preckwinkle, I do not think it is ok that they happen all the time as you put it in the black neighborhoods. If the people in those neighborhoods accept that and don't snitch or otherwise fail to help the police and testify, thats is their bag, their neighborhood. I will tell you that if me and my friends were thug mobbing blacks, I would be dealing with federal prosecutors on a civil rights beef. And that is exactly where these thugs should be charged.

Chicago has become Dodge City and if the town can't keep order, the citizens and commuters must arm themselves just to survive.

Well, it's official. If little thugs are going to start using guns around the train stations then it is open season in Chicago.

The average citizen should be saying this -

I am not going to become a victim or permanently crippled because some east coast puppet bureaucrat has no F'ing plan and our state's attorney has no balls to prosecute these savages for hate crimes.

Law and order? Justice? These are words Illinois politicians (AND some in police supervisory roles) have no clue as to their meaning.

This is national news, Chicago can't deal with it's thugs.
It's going to get alot worse. There just isn't enough police (no matter what JFed says) to keep the criminal element out of downtown. Forget about a special employment detail. We can't even clean up Kolin & Hirsch, the citys latest shithole.
Looks like some commanders are hiding under their desks.
How about a daily CompStat Update, or a spread sheet from Predictive unit.
Realistically nobody can expect an overnight solution to the crime problem, but has City Hall taken a White House approach and look at the summertime crimewave as 'a bump in the road' ?
We already know Obombo conceded that there were no 'shovel ready jobs', when will Rahmulus concede and finally admit to how Daley screwed this city. How JFed ruined this Department, and most of those 500 + 150 reassigned po's havent yet gotten their feet wet.
Any citizen/visitor/commuter who feels safe in this city must be hanging out along side Daley and his taxpayer paid bodyguard detail.

Perception of crime may cause financial loss to a cities economy. The perception that the cities police department is shorthanded may exacerbate the problem.
In the case of "wildings", the perception is reality. Mr. Emanuel,Wake up! Hire more police! Do it now! Public safety is not the place to save money on the budget!

The only way to address a problem is to identify that problem, and work towards a solution. The problem we are facing is racially motivated attacks against non African-American victims by African-American males. The person most qualified to speak about this sits in DC. It is now a National problem and needs to be provided a national spotlight. Instead we blame the victim, its a shameful chapter in American history. If groups of young White males were attacking minority communities it would be number 1 on everyones agenda. It is what it is!

Little does he know that he's already caught the biggest fish of his life, FREEDOM from this shithole City and once great department. GODBLESS & FAREWELL BOSS!

Everyone:
On June 15, 2011, I will be closing nearly three decades of service to the Chicago Police Department.  During that time I had the pleasure to meet, supervise, work with and work for, an extraordinary group of men and women.  To each of you, I offer my sincerest appreciation for your counsel, dedication, hard work, partnership and friendship.   The men and women of the Chicago Police Department are truly the best of this profession, bar none.  I am filled with an abundance of pride and was truly honored to be amongst your ranks.  I am retiring from the CPD to spend my next three decades fishing.

Sincerely,

James B. Jackson

The police aren't wanted or needed at all here. Why get hurt for people who hate you? This event should not be allowed, period. Huge gang conflict and multiple shootings already. Bomb ready to go off -- but they had no problem shutting down South Side Irish just for pissers and fistfights, or North Avenue Beach "because it was 88 degrees."

Stay home and fix that garage door like you been promising to for ages now.

Our city will never hire the amount of officers we need especially since our economy is in the tank.

You can thank former Mayor daley for that and not hiring when WE did have the funds. But hey, our city is green, right?

We keep complaining about the escalating crime, but nobody is coming up with solutions. The attitude from this police department completely sucks.

We have been shot at several times on the CTA orange Line. I ahve called 9-1-1 and filled out a clearpath online police report. I have heard NOTHING.

This city tells us to report crime. What a crock of shit. I have called CPD numerous times on a neighbort hat we've been tryign to get rid of. I guess blood ont he walls, a man with a gunshot wound, etc is no reason for anyone to come out! Last night, he was using a red laser pointer out hsi window and planes were flying in over our building into Midway.

Why State Supreme Court justices need to be drug tested.

----------------------------------

The Illinois Supreme Court on Thursday issued a unanimous opinion reversing a judgment against prisoner Kensley Hawkins, holding that the state cannot seize any of the income he has earned through prison employment.

Hawkins has been in the Stateville Correctional Center in Joliet since Nov. 19, 1982. The state was trying to seize about $11,000 in his bank account to partially satisfy a $455,203.14 debt it says he owes for his stay.

The 60-year-old earned the money by working while he's been behind bars, making about $75 a month.

I gotta comment on this because so many of you guys make these comments about the merit promotions... I have never taken a test nor do I want to... don't want anything to do with being a boss on THIS department... got less than 5 more to go and I am done with 20 on ... but i have to tell you, that I have worked for plenty of bosses that made it by exams (and i know there are people out there with answers to these exams) because i have worked with a few officers in my time that couldn't find there way out of a paper bag, but somehow, scored well on exams... all the test does, at best, is show that you are a good test taker... but a good test taker doesn't, in itself, translate into a good leader... I agree that the education part of it is important, especially for upper management... but test scores in themselves, in a rigged system, are not a measure of a mans leadership ability...

I mean the foreclosures were still rolling in however the banks had to slow down their robo-signing operation for awhile to appease the judges that's all.

A report released Thursday by Irvine, Calif.-based RealtyTrac shows Illinois with 10,574 foreclosure filings last month. Filings include default notices, auction-sale notices and bank repossessions.

And what's this?

Casino cutting 50 jobs, closing gambling floor in Gary.

The very industry that Chicago is pinning it's hopes on to create an economic turn-around is laying off people right next store.

I guess we better hope the Chicago casinos take LINK cards eh?

This will be good though because when the Chicago casino's start hiring people and looking for ones with casino experience we can get them from Gary.

Why no thread on Jimmy Jackson's departure?

Jackson was a great boss and a gentleman.
He knew what was going on in 011 and knew most if not all his people by first name. He is and always was the police.
He will be missed by many.

Good bye Boss and Enjoy retirement.

Because really who cares? Another man all though a nice guy, promoted way beyond his capability.

6/16/2011 06:16:00 PM

I don't know many merit hacks and I really don't care to, but I do know some people who have been promoted by exam score. While I am occasionally shocked by some idiot with no common sense making the grade, more often than not the people promoted off the test are a better, smarter, and more professional cop than the average CPD cop.

At least if you do well on an exam, you have accomplished something. If you're merit, then 99% of the time the only thing you accomplished was the art of sucking ass.

There is no such thing as merit on the CPD. And that includes any promotion or assignment.

Even if you deserved it, that's not why you got it.

There is NO provision in the contract for non-IOD limited duty. There IS for IOD limited duty.

Watch and see how many have miraculous recoveries and return to duty. I carried disability insurance until I had 20 years on. That was offered to everyone at least once. It guaranteed me 60% of my income in case of disability no matter the cause. That was around $100 or so a month. Worth the peace of mind.

Remember how many light duty (limited duty) PO's get well, come off light duty just in time to take a promotional exam and than right back on light duty? Will happen if faced with leaving.

Other cities that sued to protect non-IOD limited duty have lost and then none of the non-IOD people are kept employed.

Donahue and company were working on negotiations to get around 200 in the contract. That left over 400 unprotected. FOP figured 200 was better than 0. Lots of complaining, then the thing went to arbitration, light duty was not subject to arbitration. So we try again in the next contract.

Meanwhile, the city can do what they want with non-IOD limited duty PO's. they enjoy no protection under the contract except to get one year at disability pay (50%) for every 4 years on the job. Then adios.

To whomever keeps writing about the Commander and inside officers in 023rd DISTRICT, GIVE IT A REST. Neighborhood relations has 2 p.o.'s, the others have retired or left the District. Upstairs, there are only a few p.o.'s in places were they are needed (do you want other (non-sworn)staff looking at your personal info?. Also, there are some civilians in the District, who were sent here from other City Departments by City Hall. PLEASE DO YOU HOMEWORK...AND STOP BITCHING!!!

Nobody gives a damn. And the shit trickles on down from upper management in our city all the way down.

Until of course, it happens to one of you. Then there's action, or its too late

6/16/2011 05:20:00 PM

I won't argue your points, but Jesus, man, if some imbecile is pointing a laser at the planes, CALL THE FAA and report it. I guarantee you, you'll get their attention immediately.

Stupid move, meant only to show how 'tough' he can be. Light duty folks pay into the pension, know the job and can contribute in desk and administratie capacities.

Shunting them off to the side undermines the pension, undermines morale (is that even possible, anymore?) and accomplishes nothing.

OT:

Is The United States the "Land Of The Free"? Is Illinois a land that Abraham Lincoln would remember? Or admit to?

Read this link to the London Daily Mail.

It outlines which states in the USA, based on taxes, regulatory environment, personal issues (gun control, etc) are the free-er states to live in.

Turns out that the liberal Democratic states lie NY and California (and Illinois) are at the bottom. And also are the states in the deepest financial problems.

We have a new neighbor who has children and doesn't like crackheads. Maybe daddy will glue his head back together once the new neighbor takes a baseball bat upside his head We will handle this one on our own.

The Union won't budge of the "full duty" desk position. I don't think they should. Can't have civilians there either. Remember Detroit.

That being the case, maybe they can get first shot at OEMC. It would be nice to have P.O. dispatchers again.

This is a loosing battle for the FOP. How can they justify keeping non-IOD limited duty personnel on the payroll? Some officers have been on light duty status for over 5 years. I wonder if push came to shove, how fast they would return to full duty? Time to make a decision and find employment.

I propose a bounty on every scum bag gangbanger's head.

There are not enough police. Anyone assuming they are safe entering Chicago's loop, etc is wrong. Chicago is the new Detroit. Went down Lake Shore Drive other day, saw one Chicago PD on an 4 wheeler doing ticket patrol, and two riding bikes along lake front. There's no security downtown. Then come up over the trash via the skyway and see/smell billowing smoke from car fire just on IL/IN border. Nobody's around.

What will happen as a result for a man-made or natural disaster? The whole place could go up in flames.

Current government failures and future collapse will require we citizens to engage our entrepreneurial spirits for waste management of the streets. It should not be difficult to find some wealthy donors offering payouts to honorable citizens for such an endeavor.

Not in the dark of night. NO! IN THE MIDDLE OF THE AFTERNOON!

Three people suffered minor wounds when someone fired a shotgun in the West Side's East Garfield Park neighborhood, striking them with pellets, said police.

That shooting happened a little before 1 p.m. on the 700 block of North Trumbull Avenue.

About 10 people were said to be involved, Sostak said. When police arrived, they learned that about five people had been playing soccer when a vehicle pulled up to the field.

Several people, two of whom were wielding a golf club and a cricket paddle, exited the vehicle and attacked the soccer players, Sostak said.

Why don't you read what is in the contract sometime about non-IOD limited duty officers.

Unfortunately the department is within it's rights to demand officers present themselves for duty, FULL duty, after a reasonable period on medical etc. or retire or go on disability pension.

There are no contractual protections for limited duty non-IOD.

Police unions that have taken their departments to court have lost and ended up with less than they had.

This is a fight FOP would very likely lose, no matter who is union president. Donahue knew it. He spoke about this at general meetings.

Something was being negotiated about having a number, like one third of the number now on non-IOD LD, included in the contract. Then we went to arbitration and that went by the wayside.

Than came Rahm.

Those demanding a fight: prepare to lose.

Those demanding a fight, pay union dues just like everybody else so they are entitled to have the union go to bat for them, win or lose. I'd take Donahue over this weak excuse for a Union President any day. Funny, in fact he had to keep the old president on the payroll since he had no clue as to what he was doing
