EVERYONE should be working the street until this stops. Put everything on hold. Clear out HQ's, the Academy and every cubicle in the department. If you're healthy and sworn you should be on the street period.

Be safe

Let's see if the Mainstream Media keeps score on all these shootings.

After reading all these other threads about poor leadership, someone should step up and end all this with cowboy and indian "chiefs" and all the other wack-job bosses.

It also has to be super-frustating for those cops who are "real commanding" officers in the military reserve watching the retarded antics of the clouted.

One can only hope Supt. Cliff (Mc)Claven (sorry but he lost all my respect at St. Sabina's) will step up to the plate, but I would not bet on it.

Leadership starts from the top down. Whoever is on top sets the stage and tone of the organization.

Concealed carry is the order of the day for anyone venturing into Chicago.(Dodge City on the Lake)

Just a reminder boys and girls....

When was the last time you fired your weapon besides at qualification this year?

Been a while for most, I bet....

We should be getting training multiple times a year. We used to, at least get a class or two where we fired a 100 rounds or so. But when was the last time we had something like that? 2 or 3 years ago maybe?

I try to get to the range on my own time as much as possible, but not nearly as much as an officer should. I've even taken a couple classes on my own dime, but money's tight these days.

The fact is, the city should be paying for more training for us. But until the body count reaches "unacceptable levels", they'll take their chances and keep their money.

I suggest we work together. There's some classes out there that have group rates. Try and get a few guys/girls from the watch and schedule a shooting class for yourselves.

This new administration cares probably even less about us than the one before it.

Rahm was on the news talking about what "we train these officers for". He has no clue what we're trained for.

Cuz it aint much, that's for sure.

I'm assuming that the POs are from 022. 3rd shooting in 1 week in that area. 006 must be hitting the bad guys hard, and they're moving south into 022. Thank God the officers are OK. As for the shooter, well, he;ll make some good fertilizer!

TV reporting 3 shot at 70th and Parnell...one victim 16, one 18, another 88 years old who was just sitting on the porch. Senseless.

Coming in now that the 18-year-old victim has died.

Beaches closed to swimming because of FOG...

It's too weird.

Channel 9 showing film of the scene at the Medical Examiner's office receiving area in 1995 -- a literal traffic jam of ambulances and hearses from all over the city waiting in line to unload. Exhausted workers wheeling one cart after another out to refrigerated semi-trailers parked there, leased because there was no more room inside the facility.

"A Grim Scene During the Chicago Heat Wave of 1995: In the summer of 1995, the Windy City lost approximately 700 residents in just five humid and sweltering days. As the heat lingered, much of Chicago's urban infrastructure began to break down. Paramedics, hospitals and morgues were quickly overwhelmed."

"Dying Alone..."

This is a bad one. The dangerous figure is -- three nights without a significant drop in temperature will skyrocket the stress and death rate. They just had Paul Dailey on TV, he was one of the weathermen working in 1995...

Have ALL PO's at the Hall hit the street.
Hire private security to handle it. 001 can respond when needed, not play needed.

Rahm's gang can hold down the fort and when he's not there...so what.

DOES that idiot Steve Peterson know anything? Why does he still have a job? He was walking around on the police shooting the other day without a clue. With a guy like this running the detective division its no wonder the clearance rate is so low. He should be McFluff's first dump; the righthand man of JPUD. No wonder he has the nickname the Screaming Skull.

ummmm, were we at the same shooting?? Because A guy on our team got into a shooting within the past two weeks and he was there and couldnt have been more professional. Wouldnt let anyone fuck with the officer and told IPRA to pretty much stick it up thier ass and to wait until the detectives finshed what they had to do. He was friendly to everyone there and went into the little corner store near the crime scene and came out with a case of cold water and offered it to people working the crime scene and officers involved. This is the first time Ive ever seen or even met the guy and he seemed like a pretty solid guy to me... Sounds like it to me that you have an axe to grind with him over some personal stuff.

Just because he bought u a bottle of water does make him competent to run the detective division. You obviously aren't a detective or u would know why he is so despised. He sees the end of his career on the hozion and he is just trying to Peking the inevitable.
