"Person of Interest" Questioned

  • Authorities are questioning several people about the Monday night shooting of two Chicago police officers in the West Garfield Park neighborhood, authorities said.

At least one of them being questioned is a "person of interest," authorities said, but no charges have been filed.
In the meantime, the Westside Reverends Association released the following statement after this latest attempted murder of police officers:
And "pfather" Phleger held a press conference and related this statement about the recent spate of attacks on police officers on the south side:
And "reverend" Meeks couldn't wait to express his thoughts:
Seven, count them, seven shootings in under three days involving the police. And the howls of outrage? The protests in the streets? The expressions of support from Rahm, the "revs," or the media asking what the fuck is going on in certain communities?

Deafening silence.

But hey, that pension legislation is coming up soon. We're sure they'll have lots to say then.

Not a word of outrage! I guess they sanction attacks on Police?

What would they gain by bringing this up? There's no advantage in it for them to point out that the "black and brown" children are not victims here, but rather the aggressors.

There has to be a victim role in it for them so that they can squeeze more money out of tax payers and continue to contribute nothing to society.

As for Pfleger (or the other fake revs), whenever they show up anywhere (service, memorial, etc.) quietly stand up, turn around (away from him) until he shuts up and sits down. Then turn back around, sit back down and give your attention to the next speaker. Its effective without disrupting the service. Maybe the media will begin to report this.

These Rev-runs will hold prayer circles like they did outside the mayor’s office and hold antiviolence marches but not protest to hire more police. Just hold down the whole district outside the mega church Sunday morning and bingo night.

The Rev-runs will picket saying they want jobs but there are 2,500 waiting to be filled yet Rahm lays off 625 union workers and opens a new Department of New Immigrants so that Chicago becomes the most “immigrant friendly city in America” so there is plenty of cheap labor for the connected companies who will take over.

What the Rev-runs want is to hold down the killings because it's bad for business. When the dope can be sold peacefully without conflict and the money rolls in they are happy.

What they will not do is when they have these marches in front of the TV cameras is chant HIRE MORE POLICE! That is bad for business too. They want the money that would be spent on the police spent on the programs that put money into their pockets.

NOW HERE IS AN IDEA: When one these marches is scheduled someone tips off FOP. FOP then gets a lot of picket signs and banners that say STOP THE VIOLENCE, HIRE MORE POLICE and gets some marchers to pass them out and start chanting. Get the signs in front of the TV cameras, in McGees faces and behind everyone speaking to the media. Talk to the reporters and tell them NO POLICE NO PEACE. Maybe one will show some guts and ask McGeneralissimo about lack of manpower.

Stay safe, this would be a few bucks well spent.

OFF TOPIC, another person of interest...

from the Sun-Times

Crooked cop Hanhardt goes from prison to halfway house

William Hanhardt, the crooked Chicago cop (Chief of Detectives)who helped run a nationwide ring of jewel thieves, has been released from prison into a Chicago-area halfway house, a spokesman for the Federal Bureau of Prisons said Tuesday.

Hanhardt, 82, was serving a 12-year term in the minimum-security section of the federal prison in Terre Haute, Ind.

Hanhardt masterminded a theft ring and led such men as “Skinny Joe” Basinski in stalking jewelry salesmen across the country and stealing more than $5 million in jewelry. In all, over 15 years, Hanhardt’s crew targeted more than 100 jewelry salesmen, prosecutors alleged in October 2001, when Hanhardt pleaded guilty in federal court to taking part in the theft ring.

Hanhardt is scheduled to be released from the halfway house on Jan. 13, 2012, prison officials said.

All uniform stores are a rip off. They charge you outrageous prices because you got no choice. Take a sample vest cover (your old one) and take it to a local tailor shop. No one will ever know and I'm sure you can negotiate it for half the price that these "official" uniform stores will charge.

But if you do, the best place is on Irving and Austin. Whatever you do, DO NOT GO TO KALES!

I was very happy with several custom made over the years for me by JG Uniforms on Irving Park at Austin.

I was very unhapppy with Nate's Leathers, not that there was anything wrong with the vest cover itself but the way I was treated when there was a problem made me say never again.

No matter what color of fabric is I strongly suggest you give it a good coating of Scothchguard before ever wearing it. Let it air out a couple of days before using it and renew the coating after a couple of cleanings.

Politically and legally incorrect these days. To label a person as a "suspect" taints that person as guilty in the community. The "suspect" if not charged and convicted could come back and sue over being defamed. Even a totally innocent witness could be a "person of interest".

J&G makes a good product, but if you want it done within 3 months go to VCG (5050 W. Irving Park). My partner's cover took forever to get done at J&G and mine took a few weeks at VCG.

Well, you could try Tactical Taylor, I believe they make a good one. Also, Diamondback Tactical makes one, but Im not sure if you have to buy one of their vests too. This is assuming you want Molle on it.

If you talking about one that meets Chicago's regulations your best bet is VCG-If you buy from the manufacturer it wont pass inspection

You can say what you want about Hanhardt but as a citizen, I will always be happy with him for the info he developed in the Hillside Officer Anthony Raymond kidnapping and murder in the 70's. He bagged those shitheads and if not for him and his "sources', those puke pots probably would not have gotten caught. And I would not experience some measure of joy with them rotting and one dying in prison. With mixed feelings I wish him well. What happened to Anthony cannot be easily described in words and makes me wish for the olden days when mobs of us would storm the jail, beat and lynch sadistic crap like these guys.

If you get a chance SCC, try and find the e-mail that good old Downtown Ernie Brown sent out to the District Commanders about 2 days ago. The e-mail was in regards to these silly gang conflict boxes that have been set up through the comstat meetings. The grammar, spelling and thought that went into this e-mail was absolutly appalling. To think that this city will dish out a six figure salary to this buffoon and then bust the balls of the rank and file and tell us that we are over paid. This is one of the main reasons that this job has gone to shit and that morale is in the dumps.

just wondering. what ever happened to the word: suspect.

7/20/2011 02:15:00 AM

Politically and legally incorrect these days. To label a person as a "suspect" taints that person as guilty in the community. The "suspect" if not charged and convicted could come back and sue over being defamed. Even a totally innocent witness could be a "person of interest".

I have known too many people of no interest at all in my life.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

thats exactly what i SUSPECTED (pun intended) . we always do this as a society . we clean up descritions and words as to not offended. quite frankly im tired of all the politically correctness of the last decade or so...it is what it is why do we have to constantly skirt around things.

No tax relief for churches or religious orginizations would be a huge help to alleviate our budget deficit. Same for colleges and universities. Imagine if University of Chicago, Loyola, Depaul, St Xavier, and all the churches had to pay property taxes. They would quit buying up neighborhoods and not lower the tax base or a community causing residents to have to pay more taxes. Or am I wrong?

"'Person of interest' questioned in wounding of 2 cops"

Did you notice they used the term "wounding" when speaking of the officers, but the other stories where people are shot use the term "shooting", shot, etc.

Look through the "News Clips" for 19 JUL 10 on the department intranet. The term "shooting" is in the headline of all of them, except the story concerning the officers.

Since essentially one news service writes the stories for all of the local news rags, you'll see the same stories in different papers.

A small yet significant difference.

Uniform store Irving Park and Austin.
Their 'tailors' make everything from self designed reefers to leather jackets.
JG Uniform 5949 W.Irving Park, Chicago

Make sure that you buy at least a 3A vest from someone good, like Diamondback. They can be had with the POC (patrol outer carrier). Very good quality, about $700)

He was invited by Officer Soderburg's widow, Jen Loudin, who has set up the Thor Soderburg Fund which will sponsor kids including some from St Sabina's to go to summer camp. You may not agree with her, but as far as I am concerned a Gold Star wife can do anything she fucking wants.

7/20/2011 03:26:00 PM

She can, and will do whatever she wants. We can also disagree with her decisions to support a police hating, race baiter like Phake Phlager. Have you heard one word from him about the two officers shot? No? Nor will you. He is indeed a piece of filthy shit.

To set the record straight-

Thors wife DID NOT invite Father Dumbass. The Zoo reached out to the 4 different groups and gave them the tickets. Father Dumbass was one of them. Trust me she has no interest in dealing with any religious organizations. Since it was the zoo who decided to have the celebration she let them decide who they would give the tickets too.

You are right. She can invite anyone she desires and support his programs. But I have the right not to contribute any fmoney. I refuse to give or do anything that benefits that police hating reverend. There are limits and good taste. Thor would turn over in his grave.

7/20/2011 07:16:00 PM

I think that there was some confusion when the tickets were donated to the City of Chicago, CAPS program.
The Thor Foundation sent free Brookfield Zoo tickets to the CAPS program. They were supposed to be used at a later date. The CAPS program gave them to Pflager along with the flyer for the Thor dedication ceremony. Pflager then used them that day and showed up with some bus loads for the event.

And Thor would not turn over in his grave, he was not that kind of person.

I wasn't a big fan but I got family that goes to his church and I promise you after multiple occasions of dealing with the people at Salem, they are close to the most friendly, accomodating, genuine people I've encountered in any church...and most other organizations. That's from me being there and attending their marriage seminars etc.

Heh...

As far as the rever'rear-ends are concerned, we imagine that The Police would have to confront and kill one of these gun wielding-gun shooting dead-enders on the church steps...

...And it STILL wouldn't elicit any positive commentary in favor of The Police.

These people are far detached from reality and are in the throes of some type of group hysteria/psychosis...

They howl, scream and threaten to get "really mad up in heah" if they don't "get" more Police as armed baby-sitters to protect them from their misbehaving kith and kin but "don't y'all be up in heah harassin' us."

The time is overripe to pick a side. This current situational decay in this city is the result of people trying to have it both ways.

As we've said many times, there is no way possible to "surgical strike" your way out of being surrounded and as a political expedient, you have to do it with one hand tied behind your back to make it look like your not striking with fierce intent and lasting effect.

Either you strike a series of destroying blows or you're doomed to a drawn out series of defensive actions.

It is unconscionable that this city is being held hostage by the catered to constituents & their supporters/enablers.

The hard working, captive taxpayers and few upright, clear headed free thinkers who pay the freight here are getting the shit-hand in return for their hard earned treasure being misappropriated to prop up the failing political-clerical-media/ criminal regime that is firmly ensconced in Chicago.

Heh... If The Police are the enemy and you people want us to "just go away" then make it worth our while.

(oh shit, can't do that! when they realize they fucked up REALLY BAD, there'll be no Police to scape-goat and make the public foam at the mouth with hatred. THEN we'll see career politicos, some msm and false clergy dangling from lamp posts when the public turns on THEM for a change)

The "Cocked-Hat Security Contractors & Public Safety Customer Service Agents" are coming to take over for CPD. The public can line the streets and cheer if they have the energy to after slaving at the machines all day.

This is what's happening. A complete and total re-boot of the concept of "public safety" in Chicago.

Why do you think they've been trying to starve us through attrition?

Why do you think they're trying to ram-rod legislation so they can legally run and hide from Police pension obligations?

The intentional underfunding and theft from the same was odious enough...

Interesting times boys & girls. Very interesting times.

And what's the reply from his own co-workers?

Where can I get a good vest cover?
Did you hear that Hanhart got released?

Before you dedicate too much time to your job or even to your fellow cops at the expense of your family, remember this job and all the people on it quickly forget about you, even if you're in the ground.

The only thing you'll have if things really get rough are your family and maybe a few life-long friends that you likely had before you ever became the police. Don't neglect them thinking the relationships you found on this job are lifelong. They are not.

Good luck to the injured officers. Get well, both of you.

Dear SCC this is my first post,

I attempted to edit and send this twice before but it disappeared on my computer. So this is the actual post I would like to send not the other two.

On Monday, July 18, 2011 I was on furlo enjoying the day with my family. After 25 years on the job we enjoy each furlo more and more. That night while asleep I received a call “Were you sleeping?” “Yes”
“ Ruben has been Shot.” My heart sunk. You see one of the officers who was shot on Monday night is my dearest cousin. My son and I immediately picked up my cousins grandparents and took off to the hospital. Many thoughts raced through my mind but one in particular stood out, that was the day he told me he wanted to be a Chicago Police Officer. And so it was. He was now the 5th Chicago Police Officer in our family. His mother, father and the entire family are very proud of him. He asked me to attend his ceremony at the academy and pin his star on him. As He stood there proudly in his uniform my eyes welled up with tears and I pinned his star on him. Today I am racing to the hospital because he has just been shot. When we arrived at the hospital and the doors to the E.R. were opened we were met with our CPD Family assuring his mother, grandparents and my son and I that he was in stable condition. The Superintendent immediately met us, also, all our Brothers and Sisters in Blue, Doctors and Nurses, the Detectives, the 1st Deputy, Sgt.’s, Lt.’s, Chaplains, Exempt members, FOP. The love and support shown and given was beyond words. We felt so blessed and humbled. When we saw my cousin and his partner and where they were shot, one word came to mind “Miracle”. We thanked Almighty God for having protected them both. Today is a good day. Today two officers are alive and recovering. Today families are smiling and not crying. Today an evil thug has been arrested and charged for the attempted murder of two police officers. Today on behalf of my family and myself we want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all who were on the scene, to all who were at the hospital, to all who were with us, to CPD Brothers and Sisters who worked tireslessly in apprehending the offender, to SCC for your prayers and blog, and to all the other agency’s who sent their prayers and help, Thank You from the bottom of our hearts. Stay safe, take care and watch each other’s back. God Bless and Protect all of you always.

P.O. Ivette Maldonado
