Robber Beaten?

Any truth to this rumor popping up in the comments?
  • Do you have any "inside scoop" on the would-be iPod robber who got the shit kicked out of him (left on a stretcher and the CFD had to hose the blood out of the car) at the Roosevelt Station on the CTA's Green Line last night around 9ish? It's a story we can cheer at.
If true, you'd think that the media would report citizens are finally getting fed up and vigilantism is starting to pop up in Chicago. Or maybe not - it wouldn't fit in with the "all is well, crime is down" mantra being chanted in the hallways of power.

Hit him pretty damn hard. He ran away clutching his face, stumbling and losing balance lol.

Didn't hang around for the homies to come back for revenge.

Have them check the video taken last year on the 1800 block of N. Neva by a retired detective's home system showing a white van and two M/4's going down the alley pulling off alluminum downspouts off gagages.

The white van had a company logo on the side and they were eventually caught by Area 5 because of that and the front licence plate was readable.

Same guys?

in 013 last week a dude walked up to a fella, pointed a gun at his head and tried to rob him. The victim took the gun away from him and beat the bejesus out of him. The victim/offender spent a few days in the hospital.

I remember years ago I caught a pick pocket on the blue line who tried lifting my wallet. I had to drag him off the train, all the while the yuppies were saying "Aw don't treat him like that".

I'm losing my mind because I've just been a victim of a theft and the yuppies are appalled at the crack head being arrested. It was a surreal moment.

Back in the day, pickpockets used to have their fingers broken before being dropped at the Indiana line. Armed burglars also used to take a thumping when caught especially if they were night time cat burglars.

Did a report for an old timer in the loop. He was sitting at Starbux, and shithead snatches phone from his hand and attempts to flee out the revolving door. The old timer chases sticks his foot in revolving door pulls it backwards and proceeds to pummel shitheads face until he gave him phone back. this happens a lot more than reported.

Maybe this is the answer. Citizens become the ultimate VIGILANTES! Our silly puddy politicians won't allow our citizens to conceal and carry so break out the chains and baseball bats! Go after these thugs and run them off back to their rancid ghetto neighborhoods. In all these recent attacks if a dozen citizens jumped in and kicked ass the problem would end. United we stand divided we fall.

I love hearing stories about good citizens fighting back against these assholes

When I was on the job I occasionally ran into situations like this.

I knew decent businessmen who carried weapons I always did the right thing

Once a coffee shop owner shot a guy who tried to rob him, right in front of the station. ( Across the street actually)

The business man was released without charging. I thought that was great.

Ive had occasion to show my five shot to a few people. Luckily I never had to pull the trigger.

Now Im retired and never leave home without it. ( or my pocket rocket Glock)

Keep up the good work all of you

Hi everyone.
New reader. Single mom living in Hegewisch neighborhood in the 4th District. Was turned on to this blog by my neighbor. I have a question for the police that maybe you can help put with. It has to do with how crimes are reported.

We recently had a terrible murder here, where some guy in his car by Mann Park was shot in the head.
I looked up the crime on everyblock, and it was reported as an “Aggravated Battery”.
Is this how murders always go reported? As "aggravated battery" with no mention that the person was murdered?

Here's the case info from everyblock.

http://chicago.everyblock.com/crime/jul10-aggravated-battery-handgun-4117307/

Case number
HT389841

Type
Battery
Aggravated battery: Handgun

Beat
0433

It just didn't make any sense that a murder would be called an “aggravated battery” and not a “homocide” or “murder” or whatever its called.

Thanks for helping me understand.

What about the one in the Oak Park gas station last winter(?) where armed shithead tried to jack a man for his leather coat, victim shot offender in the mouth and loosened up some teeth ! The new breed of pocket pistols has made being a stick up man a very dangerous occupation.

Dear Scc: anyone hear of cook county going to release anyone in jail on immigration charges? I just received an email about this. Coupled with rhams new plan he talked about today, we must be the friendliest city in the world. I believe if they cut our pay, pension, benefits, raise taxes, layoff city workers and teachers but use our tax dollars illegally, then we should be able to sue the government?



I am not a cop but I have read on this blog that the people who classify Chicago crime statistics use every possible trick imaginable to classify crimes as insignificant as possible.

It's just another example of the Chicago Way.

Hopefully, a cop or person in the know can repost specific examples of how Chicago crime classifications are diluted.

I recall reading here one trick used, if my memory serves me correctly, is multiple AB's as an example occuring at one particular address are recorded as -- one -- AB.

Also, evidently, the FBI does not included Chicago crime statistics in its' national tabulation of crime statistics because the Chicago figures are so bogus due to watered down classifications.

You ask a common sense question. How on earth is a person shot in the head classified as an aggrivated battery????

Only in Chicago.

==

People held on immigration charges are held usually at MCC. Cook County will no longer do its mandated duty and co operate with ICE and the Federal government by notifying them of people that they have in custody, even at thier request that may be illegal status. So, Cook County has even thumbed thier noses even worse than Chicago as far as not co operating with an already anemic federal government and it's laws. Basicly, they refuse to have anything to do with ICE now. That's your Sheriff friends, always looking out for the wrong people

Are you kidding? The media doesn't want to give we the little people any ideas about the legitimacy of actually standing up for ourselves or our families. Elliot Mayfield was found NOT GUILTY for his 2010 killing of a drunken drug dealer who threatened both Mayfield an his family. Yet the Sun Times printed NOT ONE WORD OF THE STORY!!! After all, that might let the little people know that self defense is LEGAL in Chicago!!!! And THEN where would we be??!!!

***********************************

I have not looked at the case you cite, but I'm assuming what happened is that when the reporting officers filed their original report, the victim was still alive. If he dies say hours or even days later, it gets reclassified to a homicide: 1st degree murder. Presumably this is what happened in the case you cite!

____________

Everyblock is just outdated. My friend was killed in Ravenswood in 2003. It went down initially as an aggravated battery with handgun because he was still alive when they carted him away. He died at Illinois Masonic. I can vividly remember the doctor telling his brother than he was brain dead. Later it was updated online as a homicide. Good times.
