North Side Shooting

  • Chicago police shot a person they said pointed a weapon at officers late Monday in the city's Albany Park neighborhood on the Northwest Side.

No officers were injured in the shooting that happened just after 9 p.m. near the intersection of Central Park and Lawrence avenues.

Tactical unit officers with the Albany Park police district were conducting missions in the area when they heard gunshots and saw two people fleeing the area, police said in a brief formal statement.

The officers followed the two people, one of whom pulled a weapon, pointing it in the direction of the officers, police said. One of the officers pulled a handgun and opened fire, striking the person.

"One of the officers pulled a handgun and opened fire"? What kind of writing is this? It sounds like a gang shooting or something. How about "the officer drew his weapon and shot the assailant"?

Camden wasn't available for a statement so the Trib reporter writes this tripe?

So this is what? Forty-five shootings? With forty-four weapons recovered? Good to hear the police are OK. Nice job Officers.

The Trib editor should be ashamed for allowing that story to go out as written. "Officer pulled a handgun"? Gee I wonder if the writer has an agenda?

Glad that Pat got the best justice he could have gotten after the lame ass jury was split on the attempted murder charge. What a shame that is...Can anyone on the CPD get a jury of their peers in Cook County? I mean, really?

Then when 017 chases some other people involved in incident, they run into a house and let dogs out on Police. PO with M4 wins over offender with pitbull. Nice shooting officer.

Yup, police pull a handgun? These reporters are getting stupider by the day.

Why don't you just let 017 get below 200 coppers while you're at it, Rahmholio. Nothing happens in 017. Oh, I know, it's the Commanders fault! She personally requested that these shitheads move in the district. For the really stupid, that was a joke.

The media and police brass in Chicago couldn't find cheese in Wisconsin without help.

Occam's Razor - and my observations of the quality of journalistic writing lately - would make poor verbal skills the prime suspect. The papers and news web sites of actual newspapers are filled with tales of people who "diss" others, "bust" into places and get lost in "desserts" while shots "ring out." Pisses me off that I can write rings ("wrings?) around 24 year old J-school hacks who are already making more in a year than I will in the rest of my working life.

Good point!

Now that we are admitting that gang violence is a war and that it is domestic terrorism, it is time to arm the citizen militia. Let the citizens exercise their Constitutional Right to BEAR Arms!

Capt. K.B. is getting worse and worse. He comes into roll call everyday and continues to tell everyone that we are doing a good job. He says activity and contact cards are up and crime is down. FU!

The Commander C.V. then writes a letter to all the officers thanking us for making 025 the model for the city in these bs compstat meetings.

Then the 2 goofs deny days off, deny furlough extensions, break up partners, deny honorable mentions and DC, bounce people from their regular cars, and change officers start times everyday. He even wanted an officer to come to work the day after he got into a shooting! He also wanted to burn a slip instead of carrying them, for 2 guys who worked 25 hrs. straight on a homicide offender! He said "this is too much overtime" Its not your time asshat!

Capt K.B. then rode a great sgt. G.C. by changing his start times and making him work the desk when he has more seniority than most other sgts when he requested not too. He fuc##d with him so much that he retired.

Capt KB is a weasel and kisses your a** to your face then rides you behind your back. He has even made Lt. H.R. into a coward who is as shaky as he is.

025 does a good job for these hack bosses and get nothing in return. It may be time for a work slow down. Then we will see who looks good in their bs. compstat meetings.

These bosses dont understand that all this activity is not required. We are only required to answer our calls. Its time to start taking care of us or we will stop taking care of them.

WHAT A BUNCH of pandering Asshole, just worried about keeping their jobs. Trying to boost Morale, but not a one has a set of balls to stand up to the Supt. and Mayor Finger-broke-off-in-the-Ass, and try to get more help, better equipment, or better perks for Officers. Just stay low, and in low gear, and the City will be begging you soon, as things continue to unravel. Keep up the great, but slow and careful work guys.

Everything else you wrote is pretty accurate. Still, id blame the goofy commander as the one pulling the puppet strings. Lets see, promote a guy to commander that didnt even have a year on as a lt.........brilliant move by j fed!

Most guys on the watch do work, it's grAteful, and some of those comments are kinda funny. Additionally, this department is totally legit, so once you and all your perfection climb down off your soapbox, one day you too can put on a white shirt with some little silver pins and start dumping ppl at will because you are clearly so superior to the us lowly P.O's, who, with 5-9 years have to sweat going to the midnights.
