How Many Retirements?

Talked to a friend who managed to hang onto his spot in Personnel. According to him, over 1,500 people have either retired or have announced their intention to retire during the 2011 calendar year.

1,500 and some change. Meanwhile, how many recruits have gone through the Academy in the past 3 years?

That manpower thing we've discussed here for years is coming around to bite us.

50 recruits just started... possibly 50 more starting in december.. hooray, were saved! so the thousand he "put back on the beat" is just covering retirements... except its still 500 short, in just one year! now watch for the new phenomenon which is already starting. The lock up positions(which usually guys with 25 plus years work lock up) are not going back on the street, instead they are retiring. so look for another hundred or so more to retire just by getting rid of the lock up positions. what a joke. no more are to be hired in 2012. another 800 -1200 projected to retire in 2012. 2013=were fu*ked!!!!

Close to four hundred put in (so far) for the remaining ten weeks of the year.

So far... surely, there are even more to come.

Please have these numbers with you at ALL times. If you come to a meeting in our community you will be asked and and I don't know or we are not here to discuss that will be infuriate the crowd and cause you much distess.

Can't blame the rats for abandoning a ship that began seriously listing to the side when J-Fled took over early in '08. The engine room appears to still be completely submerged, and not even that new CFD tugboat at the CPD/Coast Guard boathouse wants to pull our raggedy ship into a harbor for repairs....so be it. It will take a while before the CPD recovers from the totally unacceptable onslaught of politics brought upon it during the infamous WEISel/Masters X3 regime.
In his last few years, Shortshanks turned just about
everything he touched into ratshit. Most of us recent retirees refer to the last 3 years of the CPD as 'The Lost Years.' A rudderless ship. And we still have yet to find our direction.

1500 hundred retirements this year plus you can look forward to another 100-200 retirements the result of the combining districts and areas.
Many of the personal in involved districts and areas will opt for retirement rather than go across the city to work

A lot of people from 001 fit this group. There's a whole bunch of folks retiring within the next year. We're already running 99 units on our beat cars and they're going to double the size of 001 three months from now when we absorb part of 021. We are seriously f^#ked! Hell, we can't even man all the cars in the first place and there's only 10 stinkin' beats in 001. We haven't seen one single rapid car up for over 5 years now!

So, let's see... 8 or 9 one-man cars covering an area that has a million people packed into less than 2 square miles.

Would that be a recipe for disaster???

Yeah, you could probably say that.

Tiny Dancer wants a 9000 member department. He wants give backs. He wants to gut our pension. He wants 12 hour shifts. He wants us to do more with less – a lot less. All he will accomplish is to decimate the departments manpower and moral. Exponentially increase members apathy. Cause crime rates to rise (but that will be covered up with smoke & mirrors and fraud). And worse, get officers hurt and killed (God forbid).

This is all so Tiny Dancer can pad his political resume. After all is said and done, Tiny Dancer will move on to bigger political things and the standard of living for most officers and citizens of shitcago will have substantially declined.

We're paper thin right now. You can liken the department to a rubber band being stretched. You know what happens to a rubber band that's stretched too often or too far? That's right eventually it snaps and breaks!
Everything is fine though. Rahm and McNutty keep telling the sheeple that we have enough officers and that crime is down. If McNutty really used to be the police he's certainly sold his soul to be Rahms puppet/hatchet man.

QUALITY CONTROL SAYS.... (sarcasm here Gents...)

Well someone decided More with Less as it was deemed that the "DOGS or Wastes of Spaces" in units or inside that were not on the streets backing, should now be backing up us hard chargers!

So as much as Jody and Garry may be the blame for the mass exodus and jocking around....if you take a step back and analyze the "moving the insides out" maybe that internal cleansing or enema per se is what was needed...MAYBE.. ...

Oh and how we complained and bitched about those inside and scamming all those spotsin the past! (yes we did)

Sorry I'm not "ANTI-" the pro policing I am just looking at it from an objective view and I do realize its shorting us in the pension area and on the street!

We are now a business like Motorola....not the "connected clouted neighborhood organization that a phone call could hide you job" anymore!

We once were that and then you could get away with being drunk and stupid on or off duty but not anymore.

In other words this is serious job now. And those in charge are going to instill this Quality Control to impress the upper management with how they can do more with less while showing it doesn't harm or reflect in the numbers of production!

Ya think?
From abc7: "Mayor Rahm Emanuel lobbied his old boss, President Barack Obama, hard to land the summit."
"It's an opportunity for the City of Chicago, economically but also as a message internationally, why Chicago is a city that's on the move. That if you're thinking of investing, Chicago is a place to invest," Emanuel said.

Knowing the security challenges financially, Emanuel is hoping to get private donors to help supplement the city's resources. "

And from Fox: "That's going to be a huge deal, with world leaders gathering for both summits in Chicago in May 2012, along with perhaps hundreds of thousands of protesters." "Previous G8 Summits have attracted protesters and terrorists; during the 2005 summit, terrorists blew up bombs on London underground trains, killing 52 civilians and injuring 700 people."

Scc I just don't know about 1500the seeing as there has been only 232thing retirements through july of this year.
Jan 2011--45
Feb 2011--37
Mar 2011--30
Apr 2011--36
May 2011--35
Jun 2011--22
Jul 2011--27
Total 232 these numbers are facts and in order to hit the 1500 number that would mean you would need to average 211 retirements a month from august to december. Although I would love to see the senior officers send a collective Fuck you to the city. The numbers just don't seem realistic, but if the numbers do end up being right then god help the real citizens of chicago who pays taxes.

This is true, you can look it up on Clear, run a senority check for all 9161's. My district has 2 P.O.'s that have to retire due to age in 2012. I didn't run Sgt's but they seem to stay a bit longer. There might be a few that don't have the age "55" but remember that some guys still live pay check to pay check, have been divorced 3 times and some may just be scared to leave.

I'm less than 18 mos. away from joining the KMA club. With Rahm and McNutty continuously sabotaging the department the time can't go fast enough. When these 2 ass hats are done with the department they could make Shanks and JFraud seem not so bad. Who would've ever thought that was possible??

Actually, 001 isn't just getting Chinatown. The new boudaries will now go to 31st street, from Chinatown all the way east to the lake. That means the Dearborn homes will now be in the 1st district. Goodbye Ickes! Helloooo Dearborns!!

"...we're all older than we were and very few young officers are being hired."

Look at the bright side; almost everybody on the department will have the ten years seniority necessary to bid, if Rahm gets his way.

Of course, since there are "no" recognized vacancies for the past three out of four months, there won't be anywhere to bid to...
