Another Nuisance Suit

  • A federal lawsuit filed last week against Chicago police alleges officers wrongly shot a West Humboldt Park man suspected of wielding a gun.

The lawsuit, filed by the firm Loevy & Loevy on behalf of the suspect's family, says Pedro Gonzalez III, 21, was unarmed when police shot him multiple times in the back June 15. Three officers on patrol saw Gonzalez had a gun in his waistband near Kolin Avenue and Hirsch Street, officials have said, prompting two of the officers to chase him on foot.

Gonzalez pulled out a gun and officers fired at him, fatally striking Gonzalez, police said.
So a gun was recovered, the dead guy was at a memorial for another dead gang banger, and everyone wonder's why cops are so cynical.

Been before those scumbag lawyers/liars twice in the past. Calling them bottom feeders is an insult to bottom feeders. Look for this case to be steered toward a police hating liberal judge like Lefkow. Hell isn't punishment enough for either of them. Here's to making your millions off the backs of the City taxpayers you two rotten pieces of shit!

Just another reminder why we should do as little as possible, especially in certain areas.

We can't strike or orchestrate a work action, but there's other ways to make a collective point. It's rather easy to NOT see that TVB. We also still have that magic word "discretion" which can be liberally applied in many aspects of this job. When the Brassholes demand you and your partner pick up the pace lest you forfeit your car, find your sack and ask him/her to kindly put their request in writing.

Save going that extra mile for the anomaly that is a "legitimate" victim/citizen. Leave the rest of these bastards to their own devices and they'll continue to thin their own herds.

Stay safe, enjoy the circus as best you can without getting hurt or dead, and try to laugh everyday. These human-in-genetic-makeup-only degenerates that we police daily will NEVER change. With very few exceptions, these cretins are beyond saving. The sooner you realize this fact, the better off you'll be.

At what point does FOP ask the Illinois Bar Association to look into Lovey & MF'ers regarding the nuisance cases.

Or will they have to wait for the city to stop settling these shit cases?

The feds should really watch over loevy % loevy due to their tactics to obtain $$$gain on "BS" cases. I'm sure somewhere within the realms of the court system these law offices persuade clients in a scemish way for money gain...its funny that many (and I use that loosely) gang member, drug dealer, robbers or violent crimes offenders out there have a business card or have these lawyers on speed dial.

I would hope the city would counter sue loevy % loevy with pressuring witnesses not to favor the police. Im sure anyone who might of saw something is probably afraid of the gang banging family retaliating. Its safe if you dont get involved and these law offices are condoning intimidation by family members of these thugs!

I read this one. it's filed by loevy and loevy. they do their homework before filing a case, and second hand information tells me they have friends in the corp counsel office: i.e., they check with their friends on whether a case is winnable or has the potential for big settlement before filing suit.

in a nutshell, loevy knows bad guy was armed, but the crux of this case is the department's alleged failure to train us on tactics that they say would prevent or reduce police involved shootings.

loevy compares chicago to other big cities, and cpd gets into more police involved shootings than other cities, per capita (according to them). they argue that additional training has helped NYC reduce their officer involved shootings.

loevy has come up with a formula for suing the city for police involved shootings, even when the citizen was armed and threatening great bodily harm to the officer. this does not bode well for future, clearly justified, police involved shootings.

this is a really terrible situation we are facing: bad guy with gun aimed at us in front and unscrupulous lawyers waving the lawsuit behind us.

of course the first threat to eliminate is the bad guy, but how do we dispatch the threat from the lawyers?

12:31:00 AM "Scumbag lawyers/liars"? Nah. Money is not their motivation. Their reward is the positive relationships they develop with their clients. From their website:

Our Approach to Case Selection

We spend a substantial amount of time meeting with our clients and investigating their claims before deciding whether to accept a case. The reason we are so careful and judicious about case selection is because of our unyielding commitment to our clients. We are committed to winning every single case we take on and will always devote the necessary lawyer time and financial resources to ensure success.

Also, because of the personal commitment our attorneys make with our clients, we only take cases in which we feel we can develop positive relationships. The strong and enduring relationships we have built with our clients is truly one of the most rewarding aspects of our work.

Look to the ranks of the Department and see how many have ties to this law firm. Ask the guys you work with.

You might be surprised at the answer...or maybe not at all.

It's unfortunate how much of an anti-police mentallity the world is in right now.

Because everyone now has a cell phone camera, EVERYTHING ends up on the internet and is condemned.

Politicians hang the police out to dry to save their own asses.

Sad thing is, people will believe this bullshit lawsuit is the truth.

I like where your head is at but its not gonna happen. The illinois bar association accepts donations to help fund its programs. You should take a look at the list of its top donators... It will take some looking but you can find it on the internet. I would say have a good investigative reporter like channel 7 take a look at it but that is just a dead end also. Loevy and Loevy bring the media to its offices for almost every lawsuit they file. They try to get as much public opinion focused on their case by getting it on the news as to persuade the city to settle to get out of the spotlight. Usually, most news agencies wont go and cover something like this. They will have the firm send over an official statment and it may be included in a brief story near the end of the news cast. So you ask why does the media go all out for lovey and lovey cases only???? well, take another look at fundraising. Every year channel 7 has a christmas party at a posh downtown hotel. When you enter the party there is a sign with sponsor names etc on it. Last year there was one sponsor on it. If I remember correctly the sign said, "We gratiously thank the law firm of Arthur and Jon Loevy for sponsoring all accomodations and events for this years holiday party." Yeah, so the loevys put on the ENTIRE party for them. Jon loevy use to work for several federal judges that are still sitting. Lets not forget the firm sponsored dinner gala's, golf outings etc that are fully paid for by the loevy law firm with great "door prizes" that are given to participants. Ever see who is invited to these events... you got it. politicians from the city and state, other bottom feeders, reporters and producers from media outlets, and judges... so it would be a little hard to look at anything about this firm. They have protected themselves by using the chicago way... buying themselves protection from the people that count... all on the taxpayer dime.

Thats not a BS nuisance suit. Because of the way these fool juries decide cases and the way the city has been settling cases, there will be money in this suit.

Hopefully the city will change their tactics like they have recently and fight this case. Prior to that they have been paying on the cases to limit their liabilities and avoid costly ligigation.

It's impossible to wrongly shoot anyone from West Humbolt Park. It's where the saying "That's for nothing, now do something" was originally coined.

Loevy, Haas, and Finkelstein have made their fortunes on suits against the city police. They get rich and the "victims" they represent get the crumbs from the table.

here is my take on loevy and loevy: someone in this department or corp counsel, is feeding them. i highly doubt that they always seem to get the high dollar cases by way of luck. someone here looks over all these cases and tells them which ones they can make money from. someone is a rat.
