No Awards for You!

We suppose they just mail them to your unit now:
  • Off topic:

Can anyone confirm the rumor that approx 20 coppers and their families were asked to leave award ceremony at headquarters today cuz they weren't wearing their shiny dress shoes???

If true, can morale get any lower on this job?
On one hand, we don't think it's that big of an effort to dress properly when accepting an award from the Department, especially the big ones. There are uniform standards for a reason and it isn't like they're a big secret.

On the other hand, some people may have pulled kids out of school or their spouses may have taken a day off of work, fought traffic and struggled to find parking. It isn't too much to expect a photo of you getting the award from somebody, right? The picture we got once doesn't even show anything below the belt line.

Couldn't there be some sort of compromise? Not a public acknowledgement since you aren't in the proper dress blues, but they have that smaller media room at HQ. Run the other people through for a quick photo-op with the First Deputy or something.

Rumor has it Al will supply the donuts since he's gotten so many coupons recently.

I wouldn't subject my family to any of these jagoff bosses. Unless you got the day off to attend skip it. They mail it to you. You get it at roll call. Take your family out for a nice meal instead of subjecting them to this joke of a department.

Second hand from someone who was there: Henny Penny and Sadowsky were pulling people out forwrong unit designator on their name tags, no hat band, shoes not quite shiny enough andgigging the guys. Then they called out the seat numbers and threw out the families too.

This is how Chicago treats its heroes.

Yes, you don't have to be a dog to be treated like one.

Anyone coming to the award ceremony as a recipient is fully aware of the dress code to attend that function, as it is spelled out
IN WRITING. If you didn't bother to read it and showed up wearing the crap that is allowed to be worn at numerous roll calls by 'watch coordinators' who either don't know or just don't give a damn themselves, shame on ya!

If this is true, it's proof that absolute power corrupts absolutely.

You don't like their attire? These people who did SUCH OUTSTANDING POLICE WORK that they're scheduled to get an AWARD for it?

Then, suck it up, hand out the awards anyway, and - later - put out a notice that no one will be allowed to attend in the future if they're not wearing patent shoes.

To reject the honorees in front of friends and family and co-workers is the height of arrogance. Then again, arrogance is running rampant amongst the upper echelon these days.

This is nothing new... Read the order that comes out with every awards ceremony. It has an assembly time for a stand up inspection. Just wear what your suppose to wear. The media is there and the supt is there.. Not to mention looking well dressed and professional for your family members. It counts for a tour of duty... Is it too much to ask to wear the prescribed uniform in the order????? They were kicking people out from award ceremonies for not being squared away 10 or 15 years ago.. there are always those couple who dont bring a blouse, a crown cap or shoes that are told to leave.. this is nothing new and i actually agree with it.. Your pretty much getting a day off of work to go to a two hour ceremony... way too many crybabies these days.

Well, if they planned enough to take kids out of school, leave early enough, find that parking spot maybe they should have planned ahead and put out the correct shoes... I mean come on, im not perfect but I can at least wear the proper uniform a few days a year when needed.... Especially when my family is there watching. If your family is there wouldnt you want to look as good as you could? If you cant wear the proper uniform then dont be expected to be carried code 49 for your tour. I thinks its a pretty even trade off.

wait, now the department is giving consolation prizes for screwing up and not listening to what your suppose to do? Wear what they tell you to wear. simple. If you cant follow an order that simple then you deserve to be asked to leave. This is a "professional"(and I use that term loosly) police department. We all know its a joke and run by idiots but when your wife and kids are there getting a picture with you maybe try and look decent. Look well dressed and professional... dont look like a slob.. 90 percent of this department looks like slobs now due to no clear cut uniform of the day. 20 years ago most coppers took pride in the way they looked... and the supervisors actually called sloppy coppers out. Now its backward baseball hats and black nike airshocks gym shoes. I agree with it, if they cant follow a SIMPLE direction they should be asked to leave. Then they can explain to the wife and kids why they had to leave.. because daddy cant follow the rules. Maybe Junior will learn a lesson about listening and doing what they are asked to do.

so the big deal here is what?? that a few idiots cant read a piece of paper they get weeks in advance which tells them exactly what to wear? Give me a break, no sympathy from me. If people on this job cant even wear the right shoes then they should be denied the award and told to report back to their unit for their tour of duty. If you go to the awards ceremony it counts as a tour of duty... If you cant follow the order and dress properly to get a free day off then thats your fault. This department is already way to relaxed when it comes to uniforms. there are only a few occasions in which coppers have to actually wear a proper uniform. first week of november, st jude and to get an award... thats it. If you cant get that right and wear the shoes then you deserve nothing at all. watch the mail back in your district because your award will be mailed to you. Zero sympathy, I dont care who you are or how great of a copper you are. Follow the order and you will have a nice day off... pretty easy.

And THAT'S the problem. So many think that looking slovenly shows that you're out there, tearing it up. That may be so, but when you walk IN to start your tour like that it indicates that you're either lazy or a slob or both. We all collectively bitch about the lack of respect shown to police by the public, the politicians, the media and even by our own supervisors but when given the opportunity (every day) to show some SELF respect and pride, so many miss the boat. Appearing and conducting yourself in a professional manner is a very simple way to help the cause. I wasn't at the ceremony and I agree that the brass has gotten ridiculous about many, many things, but I suspect that it wasn't lack of corfam shoes that caused this riff. If I recall, they aren't even required- polished, shiny shoes are. If that's too much to ask when you are wearing the uniform that we all claim to be so proud of, then you've got bigger issues than scuffed shoes.

To all the people saying that they should have followed the rules and wore the proper uniform: have any of you actually looked up the general order on uniforms? I don't know myself what it says but I'm going to bet it doesn't say you need to wear clorofram shoes. Were these officers wearing polished black shoes or white gym shoes when they showed up? I don't know and apparently neither does anyone else. If they showed up wearing polished black shoes and they were turned away because they didn't have those stupid plastic looking cloroframs on, then the bosses are assholes. I'm going to go out on a limb and say it was something along those lines that happened, which would be the norm for the CPD. We all know how much the majority of the bosses love lifting morale and how much respect they have for the men and women in blue. I for one had two award ceremonies this year and I didn't go to either one. I don't want to be anywhere near these bosses that are higher than a lieutenant because I don't like or trust a single one of them. They don't give a shit about you. Wake up and realize that. The point is, if the officers showed up in gym shoes or clown shoes, then they got what they had coming to them. If they showed up in black dress shoes and were not allowed in, then the department and bosses fucked up again. I bet it was the latter.

11/16/2011 12:24:00 AM

Henney Penney would be the wrong person to tell someone what they did wrong. They just keep sending us more messages on how they don't have your backs. If coppers are doing the right thing they will look for the small things to go after. What an embarrassment this department is. Gmac should be furious if his underlings did this. I guess they want us to be completely demoralized.

I think what your ranting about should be the least of YOUR problems. Personally Im happy with anyone who comes to work and does thier job properly. Worry about what YOU look like, it's easier for you to win your "uniform appearance award", and you wont go through the stress of not minding your own business. I'ts easy to take pride in uniform appearance when you work for someone that is proud to have you and doesn't treat you worse than the people you lock up. And until your in a position to tell people how to dress - piss off

I was one of these "awardees" that was told could not participate in the ceremony. I want to start off by saying, us 15 or so not wearing those corafram shoes were wearing dress shoes. Nobodys shoes were dirty or shitty looking; everyone looked sharp, period! They told us they were not "authorized". Now please do correct me if I wrong for I do not have the order on uniform inspection in front of me, But if I can recall correctly, no where does it say they have to be those corafram we had to have in the academy. I know they cannot have stitching or along those lines. This was total Bullshit!!!!! And believe me, I am not complaining and should have known better to even attend! Plain and simple everyone, this department does not care about any of Us!!! Do what you have to do and go back home to your families!

11/16/2011 12:28:00 AM

Therein lies the problem: Management does not enforce uniforms at the district level, leading to labor's belief that we can wear pretty much anything any time anywhere. Hell, we have combat boots, shiny dress shoes, gym shoes, leather belts, fabric belts, suspenders (coming soon...for real), summer hats, winter hats, hatbands only in winter, rocky and bullwinkle winter hats, baseball hats, knit winter caps, light blue shirts, meduim blue shirts, dark blue shirts, tie, turtleneck, mock turtleneck, wool pants, 80-20 pants, 70-30 pants, cargo pants, black vests (off and on, then off, then on again), medium blue vests, dark blue vests, blue leather vests, black leather vests, vests with POLICE on the back, vests with no writing, tin star, fabric star, leather coats, fabric coats of varying color and fabric depending on vintage, pull over sweaters, zip up sweaters, no beards, beards with a card, short hair only -unless you have long braids, no jewelry- unless you are a female or have long braids LOL. And they are gonna kick award recipients out for mixing and matching any of the above. give. me. a. break.... the rate our uniform code is going, we all might as well be able to wear jeans and a t-shirt as long as we have something visible that says "police" LOL.. Yet another colossal fail by our illustrious management. UNIFORM- we all look the same, or UNIFORM. As in "put on your uniform"... the ONE uniform. The second you have a choice of which uniform to wear, you no longer have a uniform. You have a costume. Which just about says it all these days...

you have officers that never wear a nameplate, even testify in court without a star or nameplate--AGAIN WTF

We need a direct witness to this alleged event. The order states how to dress for the event. If you failed to dress appropriately or shine your shoes, then it is a reflection on you. You didn't deserve to be there since everyone else took the time shine shoes and have their uniform squared away. It also reflects on your boss. We just had uniform inspections. There are guys who can bring it on a hanger and you know their uniform fits and is appropriate for any occasion. There are others who do need to be inspected daily because they come to work looking like a bag of rags. If you wanted to see a good representation of this you should have worked the marathon. Guy shows up wearing a skullcap and a short sleeve shirt with a long sleeve t-shirt underneath. Then he cries when he gets told to go home. WTF is up with that. I once was honored to appear with other honorees in front of the city council. A Sgt. showed up in his dress uniform with combat boots so scuffed they were almost brown. The Sgt. in charge told him that if he didn't go get his shoes shined he wouldn't be allowed to participate. The honoree threw a hissy fit, but the Sgt. in charge stood his ground and the honoree finally did go get his boots shined. The moral of the story is; if you have earned an award, look like a professional when accepting the award. Your appearance and actions are a reflection on the department, your immediate supervisors, and most of all, YOU.

Back when I was a worker, (before this job slapped me in the face.) I went to several award ceremonies. My wife went once, and that was it. The education of my children was always more important than pulling them out of school for a BS ceremony. But too many of us look like slobs in uniform. The rules are spelled out in advance. Put a coat of polish on your shoes and have a neat clean dress uniform for an awards ceremony, St. Jude's etc. You get no sympathy here.

I mean let's get serious here. You really want to look like the typical beatoff copper with 3 rows of fucking crime reduction and fitness awards surrounded by one fucking d/c that shows up at St. Jude?
I for one don't, and I learned long ago that those awards don't amount to shit on this job and those ceremonies even less!
I totally understand the importance of being in uniform at something like this, but how much lower can this department go by sending away coppers from one of the few so called morale boosting experiences left?
The only thing that truly matters is getting the respect and acknowledgement from the coppers that you respect on the job anymore.

Were they that bad you had to embarrass an officer who did great police work in front of his or her family; or were they something you wouldn't notice except with a magnifying glass.

If you have embarrassed someone in front of their family it will remain sore throughout their lives. It says that you do good police work but still get fucked so why bother.

CPD has always been the worst industrial psychologist that I have ever seen.

I observed this first hand. They escorted guys out for not having the dress shoes on. Then as the ceremony was nearly over I saw a black female sgt. wearing a blouse that was so obviously Not hers as it did not fit her at all. She was also NOT wearing a uniform shirt but some awful white wrinkley oxford shirt and NO tie. REALLY!??? They turned guys away because of shoes and let this slob go on stage looking like this??? Was it because she was a SHE? because she was black or because she was a sgt? or is she clouted? I would like to see the stats on who was turned away race/sex and rank.
I was so digusted I will never attend a ceremony again.

If you don't have the proper uniform you should not be allowed to attend. I mean cmon you get a day off! That being said if you have black dress shoes instead of the clarinos you should still get in. The uniform still looks fine. No officer should ever be gigged on that day.

This is just plain politics, Rahm is trying so so hard to break the police dept. and really cause disention amongst the ranks, As it is coppers don't really stand together on many issues. I cannot understand if this is true about coppers and thier families getting tossed from a ceremony sue to uniform infractions but if in fact it is then our Union should address this fast. Off the path these pussy ass aldermen approved Rahms budget today. all of them (50) succumbed to this little creeps strong arm tactics. He is coming after the police. Bet the ranch on it.

Totally disagree with it going so fast that there was no time for you and your children to go up with him. As a group individually went up on stage, they had another group standing against the wall, like staging area, waiting to be called next. I was the first in my group and had plenty of time to have my family walk on stage with me
Every officer and their family then stopped and had their photo taken with the supt before leaving the stage

Not to sound too knit-picky but people, it's called a uniform for a reason. Uniform means always the same, not varying.

True, we have variations of what is acceptable garb and the dept. has gotten awful lackadaisical with their enforcement of "unifomity" but for an awards ceremony?

We need to be better than that. Have some pride and wear the prescribed uniform. Your work was good enough to be recognized, your appearance should command the same respect/recognition.

11/16/2011 08:53:00 AM

ABSOLUTELY!! Well done, I have received awards in the past and as always the Department let's you know before hand what they expect of you and how your uniform should be. Some officers really need to get a grip on their lives in and out of this department. Remember, nobody CARES what your business is, or how your life is going and some people not just other police officers really do want to see some of us fail. I put my pants on one leg at a time, I work in the worst District in the city with the highest crime, I do this job to the best of my abilities because that is what I signed up for all those years ago, also I do not bitch about the job on this blog. Grow up, be an adult, it's not that hard, really.

We kind of have been getting away with wearing black gym shoes. But now I've been seeing P.O.'s wearing Nike's with different colors. There is no uniform standard. I remember back in the day when it was a tie with the long sleeve, everyone wore "shoes" not gym shoes, and everyone looked the same. Now the uniform standard is like 31 flavors

Wait a sec...

Do you mean to say that Coppers and their loved ones were bounced from an awards ceremony because they WEREN'T wearing Corfam/patent leather shoes?

Nicely shined leather shoes weren't good enough?

Do the pansies in charge of this freight train of fuckery have a pair of black leather oxfords/boondockers/biscuit-toes that require an investment of Lincoln (Kiwi is bullshit but when in Rome...) and elbow grease for special occasions?

Nicely shined leather is a sign of giving a shit where we come from...

The old man taught us how to lay a shine on some uniform shoes... It was one of those little "pride" things that this non-stop parade of green-assed outsiders running this city & Department know nothing about.

If Henny-Penny was the ring leader, she has a lot of nerve...

Bet you a flea on a fat woman Penny is challenged by shoe laces and has velcro straps on her shoes.

FWIW... We did ONE award ceremony...

After getting a load of the jockeying, ass-kissing, back-biting & behind the scenes slack-jacking; we said "fuck that noise & the fools making it... Inter-Departmental our shit. We're secure in the good work we & our partners did."

We don't even like for our honorables & what not to be read at roll-call but we're wired that way...

Good work to the Men & Women who were recognized and rewarded.

Sympathies to the Officers & their families booted on bullshit.

Shame on the perpetrators and shame on the ones who actually DID show up intentionally looking crazy in spite of advanced notice as to what the uniform of the day would be.

(O_o & XD & so on... 8^)

We try to give Policemen the benefit of the doubt but we all know there's a joker or three somewhere who pushed the envelope just for yuks...

So if you're not going to inform us oh mighty uniform expert, then what was the point of your comment? I've got enough experience on this job to know that these gold stars at this ceremony are more than capable of pulling some ass head move like sending these coppers and their families home for something stupid like wearing polished dress shoes rather than plastic clorofram shoes. I admitted I didn't know what the order says because I'm not a phony like you. The order isn't the point. The point is sending AWARD WINNING WORKING COPS home for not wearing the "correct black dress shoes", whatever the fuck that means. By the way, I don't really care what the order says either because I'm wearing the same shined black boots out on the street that I've been wearing for almost 2 decades and don't plan on ever going to one of these fucked up award ceremonies. So, BLAH BLAH BLAH, make a real point or don't bother commenting on someone elses ASSHAT!

The city now treats this like a factory job, so should you.

Ha, I worked in a factory for 8 years before I took this job.... EVERYONE in that factory took pride in their job. The guys there listened to rules and followed them. Here at cpd we all think we are entitled because they go out and "hit em hard." Just because your a worker does not mean you dont have to wear the proper uniform. The rules DO apply to you just like they apply to everyone. This is what you get now since the generation of "everyone gets a trophy" and everyone is a winner. Little johnny cant handle the fact that they were told to go home. They have never been disappointed before and always got what they wanted. well too bad, follow the rules, wear your proper uniform and look squared away. If not then go the hell home.

To all of the posters, you talk about pride and professionalism. The citizens have no respect for us. The bosses have no respect for us. Our elected officials have no respect for us. We are looked down upon by everyone but each other. The mayor wouldn't give a shit if our numbers dwindled by 50 percent. If a copper is killed it is the blue shirts that truly care.
24 years ago I was proud to be a Chicago Police Officer. Now all I care about is that my fellow PO's are safe and have backup, because sure as hell no one else gives a rat's ass about us. My dress uniform is crisp and is used for one occasion. To honor a fallen brother or sister. Everything else about this department means shit. You bust your ass and you get thrown under a bus in a second. The higher ranking bosses just want to get through a watch wothout having to deal with anything you do. I do my job for one reason and that is to try to make sure my brothers and sisters in blue are safe. That is what I call pride in this job. Fuck everything else. This ain't the department of 20 years ago where the department appreciated you and the job you did. This isn't the same department where the bosses were the police and backed you up unless you really fucked up. Remember you are just a pawn for the bosses and politicians. They praise us with empty words and stab us in the back walking out the door. To all those high fiving the bosses for their actions, take a good look at this department. No one gives a shit about us but each other. There are a hand full of bosses that actually care about you. The rest just care about themselves and would fuck you in a heartbeat, right or wrong. Our Superintendent gives a shit less about any blue shirt. He won't even acknowledge you. The First Deputy insults us as a bunch of lazy ass Dunkin Donut dogs to the people of this city. The only pride that is needed is to back each other up and make try to keep the savages from seriously injuring or killing one of us. The only thing we have left in this department is the brother and sisterhood we have for each other. those in charge want to see that gone. From this post I can see they are doing a damn good job. We lose that and this department will never recover. So take the time to bitch about the things that matter and not fuck each other over bullshit. As long as we stand together over everthing they can't break us completely.

It's a sign of a lazy copper who thinks that since he is some kind of ghetto warrior, the rules don't apply to him. 4 charged with stealing $2,300 worth of items from North Side Walgreens

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/chi-4-charged-with-stealing-2300-worth-of-items-from-north-side-walgreens-20111116,0,239151.story

And who's gonna pay for this!!

Four jags busted for stealing $2,300 dollars worth of Walgreens krap and it will cost the middle class taxpayers about $150/ a-pop per head to lock them up.

So that's six hundred dollars a day. Four days later and the taxpayers are paying more money out of their paychecks to lock them up than the krap was worth.

The CME isn't paying for it. Sears is not paying for it. I doubt if Walgreens is paying for it. The corporations get the tax break and the burden of teaching the crooks a lesson is pushed onto middle class society and is therefore just another welfare gift to the corporations. This b.s. needs to stop.

They are not paying for it WE are.

We should make this a civil matter and not a criminal matter. If the corporations don't want their stuff stolen and want to send a broken windows message by holding the thieves accountable let THEM pay for it instead of us. It's their stuff. They can pay for the court cost and the jail time and any other rehab expense that goes along with it.

I don't know about you but I'm tired of supporting these corporations giving them welfare handouts, subsidizing their loss prevention programs.

Like the pod cams. It's for the businesses not the residents. It's for the politicians to generate revenue under the guise of making us safer.

We are not safer. The shootings continue non-stop. The auto thefts continue non-stop. The assaults continue non-stop.

easy to say, but...there are some who see the big picture; those who see the hypocrisy on the job, the political (race, gender, friendship, family connections, Democratic political connections, etc.) corruption...so, arriving for an awards ceremony with unshined shoes (or whatever; if it were my award, which it will not be, I'd say, mail the s.o.b.; if I get it fine; if not, okay); yeah, everyone should look their best in uniform, but..the organization is self-destructing, primarily due to both external and internal political corruption...uniform standards, while important, are the least of the problems now....

"Why in the hell are the out of jurisdiction Lake County Sheriff's Police making traffic stops in the City of Chicago?"

While I don't know the particulars of the stop you're referring to, motorists should obey traffic laws in the presence of a marked police car, regardless of the jurisdiction.

When I'm on 290 making my way to/from wherever, I try to keep my speed at about 60 mph, just to keep things moving.

Inevitably there's some a-hole who blows past my marked car. I've got to stop this guy, if for no other reason that the rest of the motorists, who are obeying the law, will ask "Why the hell isn't that lazy cop stopping that guy?? I may as well blow past him, too!"

Its the Chicago Police Dept NOT SAMCRO...welcome to reality...one is your job the other a TV show. So my point is this, no one respects a Police Officer who has sleeve tattoos..ponytail (or dreads, braids)biker wear, beard and skull rings. We all know your tough and a bad ass...or are you? I remember some REAL bad ass coppers and guess what? They had none of the above mentioned. THEY looked professional and were not fucked with based on their actions NOT what they looked like.

Wow! Only through about 1/4 of the comments so far and am amazed at all the uniform police on this job! So the recipients apparently did not wear the shiny shoes as they were "fully aware of the dress code to attend that function, as it is spelled out
IN WRITING." Sounds like a bunch of General Order reading boot licking pussies crying RULE VIOLATION against a bunch of working coppers trying to receive an award in front of the family so the kids could remember how daddy or mommy was a hero. What a power trip it must have been for Henny Penny and Sadowsky to impose their authority and rank over some real police officers based on a uniform infraction... and stick it to their families to boot!

This job is so fucked!!!

The Kupper? Not the Kupper! He's a mean, lean crime-fighting machine! Huh? Okay, friendly and husky. He is an expert on ass-kicking the exempt immediately above him.

FYI 30 year veteran, look sharp when you recieve an award, honor your job, not the department, same as St. Judes, not for your commander, but for the respect of all MURDERED officers, STAND TALL. look your best.

11/16/2011 09:16:00 PM

I honor the fallen all year long. I will never attend a phony award ceremony and I will never participate in the phoniest of shams, the St. Jude March. Attending an awards ceremony or the march only emboldens these phony bosses. They have made the march a show of their influence and they use the fallen as a prop.

Just where I am there are rainbow colored t-shirts, long sleeve sweats worn under short sleeve blues, skull caps, white socks, dirty uniforms, ripped and worn away dickys, long decorated colored nail, and clown colored hair but if a male white has 2nd day growth from court all day the Capt with no sense thinks they have to make mention of the shaving standard. I laugh at him and this departmental's bull.

You screwed the standard with all the pc crap brought into the tolerance this department has for everything else with exception to shined shoes!!

I had a good career in another occupation before I was hired by CPD. I'm still proud of what I do and with whom I work. I try to take pride in my appearance, though I don't look like the "5 mile a day runner" like when I was in the academy. No matter how disgusted I am with the brass, and Chicago politicians, I'm still very greatful to have a job that pays as well as it does in an economy that hasn't seen rock bottom just yet. My checks are in the bank, the insurance is better than not having any at all, and I can count on my team mates in a bad situation. I'm still very proud to work for and BE a CHICAGO POLICE OFFICER!!

I've gotten my share of awards and I put all of them where they belong, right in the garbage. They mean jack shit. This city can go to hell. Don't let them fool you, it don't matter how good of police officer you are. They will hang you if they get the chance.

11/16/2011 06:41:00 PM

Your "my share of awards", judging by your post are: the Democratic (I was employed at the time) Award, the Obama (I was working that day) award, maybe an Attendance Ward (probably not - I sense predictable medical problems w/ you) and maybe an honorable or two from transporting someone else's arrest?

Just a guess from your post, man.

They did call out names of people who weren't allowed to participate. I got an award and was there. FIrst the so called inspector looked like a slep. He didn't have a dress uniform on and was wearing only his white shirt and trust me he didn't look all that put together. Secondly, there was a guy who brought a brand new pair of approved uniform shoes in the box and because they had some black webbing or something on the side and weren't shiny black he wasn't allowed to go on stage. Another guy didn't have his winter band but someone was bringing him one and he had to just about beg to go up there. I can understand if there was a serious violation not allowing someone up there. There were maybe 1-3 that were obvious violations but the inspector was being a little crazy. It's a shame to see one guy with his wife and kid leave because his shoes weren't the shiny ones. It was a travesty. Glad I only have 3 more years until I'm maxed out.

Boy I swear.... I think they can save a bunch of money by just making blueshirts inspectors, even at blueshirt pay. I have never seen a bigger bunch of assholes ready to cut each others throats over f'n uniform appearance or what the OTHER GUY is wearing. When I tell people I hate cops, and they reply "but you are a cop!!!" now you know why, and now you know why Rahm is going to hand this department it's ass come contract time.
