One Dead, Officers Safe

Busy night, as usual.
  • Chicago police shot and killed a male this morning following both a vehicle and foot chase in the city's Englewood neighborhood, authorities said.

An officer received a minor hand injury that was being treated at Holy Cross Hospital, according to fire department officials.

The shooting occurred at about 1:50 a.m. in the 7300 block of South Emerald Avenue, police said.

The Cook County medical examiner's office confirmed the shooting death, but had no other details on the victim.

A police spokeswoman couldn't say how the shooting occurred, saying a formal statement would be released later today.

A police source said the shooting appeared to have stemmed from a police pursuit, where a vehicle with several male occupants inside refused to pull over.

During the pursuit, the vehicle pulled over and the males bailed out of the vehicle, fleeing on foot.

Good job, Officers.

Good job glad everyone is ok. According to Camden the officer was feeling faint and at that time she shot the offender. Very poor choice of words orange one. I know you have to justify your inflated salarybut speak intelligently or shut up. A lawsuit is a given anyway but this is exactly why no statement is the way to go. Which is exactly what IPRA does they say nothing. I don't see what was wrong with sticking with that.

From the article:

"The man was identified as Devon Ross, 27, of the 500 block of East 60th Street. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Last month, a Cook County judge acquitted Ross of two counts of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, according to court records."

God bless the Officer is safe! Anyone know the name of the Judge who acquitted the idiot last month? I know the Judges are immune from lawsuits but something has to be done about the non-stop revolving door of violent offenders getting off with little or no punishment at all. 26/cal is a joke!

Good shooting , attempt by a person to disarm an officer not only allows use of deadly force , it is required if the Police Officer wants to survive.
1st words , the family wants to hire an attorney .
Happy Thanksgiving and thank the Lord the Police Oficers are safe.

As I watched her through my window leave for work Wednesday night, I wanted to say "be careful, it's going to be busy!" But I didn't want to appear like I was the hovering mother figure, and besides, she has done more real police work in her short career than I have in my 25 plus years...so I just waved. The next morning, I saw the headline and thought it might have been her, then we received a text stating that it was and that she was okay. On this Thanksgiving, we are so very thankful for her and her partner's safety. Thank you God for watching over her and all of the officers who are out there every day and night while most of the people of this city sleep safely in their beds.

Suggestion: When you put a shithead in the lockup at A2, "suggest" that they don't think of hanging themselves with their dirty stinking underwear and then make sure the filthy rag is within reach.

-------25th District 3rd Watch----

Capt KB is at it again. Can you believe how cheap this guy is? 3rd watch had Boston Market cater thanksgiving dinner for free. Capt KB takes the majority of the turkey and puts it in his car to take home. Meanwhile, the majority of officers are left to eat stuffing.

Enjoy your retirement asshat.

Why do you want the judges name? He was found not guilty in a jury trial. Research and have the facts before you spout off. It was a jury that set him free, not the bench.

Thank God the officer was a quick thinker and a quicker shot. The absentee witnesses are all screaming and jumping up and down about the fine, upstanding man that was "murdered by the police." Like my grandmother always said, "Worry when they stop talking about you!" ie; Definately a good shooting. This is one Thanksgiving you and yours won't soon forget. God Bless

ha, talk about cheap... You guys got BOSTON MARKET for free... its boston market for gods sake. Why not put 5 bucks a person in and get something good catered in. We have the whole 9 yards catered in for us on holidays. we put in 5 a head and eat like kings. Midnights in our district does the same exact thing and the caterers have no problem getting all of this set up on the holidays. Maybe look in the mirror when talking about cheap...seems you guys all have something in common in 025....geek

If you want a meal then pay for it. $5 is worth it for a catered meal. Why worry about that prick KB? He is a selfish, bitter old man. Let him go and pay for your catered food. You will feel better about yourself.

Boston Market is better than about 98% of catering. $5 a person will get you shit on a stick. Go blow KB maybe he give you a piece of turkey, then you can be cool and say you paid for it.
