Bears Win!

  • The Green Bay Packers’ perfect season came to a crashing halt against the struggling Kansas City Chiefs, who had just fired their coach and were starting a new quarterback.

Proof again that nothing can be taken for granted in the NFL.

Kyle Orton threw for 299 yards to outduel Aaron Rodgers, and the Chiefs rallied behind interim coach Romeo Crennel for a shocking 19-14 victory on Sunday that ended the Packers’ 19-game winning streak. It was their first loss since Dec. 19, 2010, at New England.

Maybe this is it? Nope, that's former Bear Rex Grossman leading the Redskins to victory and pretty much destroying the New York Giant's playoff hopes:

  • Rex Grossman threw a touchdown pass and the Redskins put a major hurt on the Giants and their playoff hopes with a dominating 23-10 victory Sunday in a game in which New York showed little desire with much on the line.
Well at least the ex-Bears had a good Sunday.

A big "thank you" to the Chiefs...I don't think I could have handled a perfect Packers season after last year's Super Bowl win, and then the Cardinals World Series title too. At least we have the Blackhawks!

Looks like Grossman and Orton, 2 QB's the Bears and their fans ran out of town are, given some supporting talent, better than they were given credit for being.

Grossman never really had a long continous period of development as he was plagued by injuries.

Orton never had any help.

How long before Cutler either gets fed up, chased out or physically broken and spit out?

Chicago: where quarterbacks come to die. (receivers, too)

If KC doesn't re-sign Orton, or he doesn't want to stay in KC as a back-up to Matt Cassell, the Bears would be wise to try and get him back as a back-up for Cutler.

Giving KC this shot in the arm by beating the undefeated Packers might make that difficult now, though. Everybody in the NFL is reading about or talking about Kyle Orton beating the Packers just like last week everyone was talking about Tim Tebow beating the Bears!

The Bears and their fans never RAN ORTON OUT OF TOWN. The Bears had a chance to trade for a PRO BOWL quarterback in Jay Cutler and they took a shot. The Denver Broncos INSISTED, at that time, that Kyle Orton be part of the trade package and he became their starting QB. Jay Cutler still could be the best QB the Bears ever had if the NEW GM (assuming Angelo leaves) can get some players here.

Maybe the whole NFL could do with not hiring felons?

The only way the Bears season can end on a good note is if Hurd rats out Lovie & Angelo as his partners.

No, this was just the Grossman we saw plenty of. He was *brilliant* some games. Others, he shit the bed. The problem was, you never knew which Rex was going to show up. Still true this year (he lost his starting job earlier in the year after a couple Bad Rex games). This was just another Good Rex game where he showed what he could do some of the time, which was be really good.

OT but latest word from 35th street says that the big changes that are being planned will NOT happen until after G8/NATO. The Mayor is pissed about the whole contract thing and McFool can't do a thing about it. Go ahead and try to go against the contract and see what happens. BTW.....Captains will not be allowed to agree to any variation of their contact if a grievance if filed. I believe there were 20 Captains who did not agree to any changes.
