Celebrate Safely

Be careful tonight. Please. All joking aside about "amateur night" and other such nonsense. An amateur can cause as many problems as a professional.

Be safe.

Well said- in years past if you got caught driving drunk your fellow Cops would quietly take you home (assuming you hadn't hit been involved in an accident).

Nowadays some of these jags will stand in line to turn you in, hoping for some play from the brass.
Sad state of affairs.

Please be careful out there, from an old retiree.

1) cut the time it takes to Max out on pay to the NY time line of 7 us.

2) lift residency like they have in NY.

As bad as 2011 ended, we will face unprecidented challenges in 2012. The impending scandal will be utilized as a negative negotiating tool in our upcoming Contract negotiations. The impending disaster of the G8/NATO Summits is going cost us in unprecedented loss of manpower, equipment and precious budgeted dollars. The only " bright spot" is the arrogance of the City Fathers to welcome chaos into the streets should ensure Rahm only 1 term as Mayor. The spector of both a Hawks and Bulls Championship loom on the horizon, with the Bulls also costing us more in an already depleted Department. The chance to fill our ranks should have been addressed 2-3 yrs ago, but was CRIMINALLY NEGLECTED.

Easy there Barney Fife. I don't know of any copper-including those "one-way" kinda traffic guys-who wouldn't get you home without a CB# if it was determined you were unable to safely do so yourself. Now if you fuck somebody up in an accident then all bets are off. Sorry, if you leave a victim you're going to have to be held accountable. And thats how it should have always been. Even back then. And I'll bet I have more time on than you and I'm still working and answering jobs!

DRINKING AND DRIVING

I would like to share an experience with you all that has to do with
drinking and driving. As you know some of us have had brushes with the
authorities on our way home in recent months. Well, I for one have done
something about it. The other night I was out for dinner and a few drinks
with some friends. Well, after having far too much vino, and knowing full
well I was wasted, I did something I’ve never done before. I took a bus home.
I arrived home safely and without incident, which was a real surprise, as I
have never driven a bus before.

Out before the holidays?,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Be safe always.

Please, take care of yourself.

A recent joint study conducted by the Department of Health and
the Department of Motor Vehicles indicates that 23% of traffic accidents are alcohol related.
This means that the remaining 77% are caused by the assholes who drink bottled water,
Starbucks, soda, juice, energy drinks and shit like that.
Therefore, beware of those who do not drink alcohol. They cause three times as many accidents.
This message is sent to you by someone who worries about your safety.

Scc, my fellow brothers and sisters, in blue. I pray to st. michael to keep you safe and out of harms way. May G-d guide you safely every hour of everyday, so you can protect your family, the young, the elderly, and yes, even, the ignorant. The task at hand will be above all else hard, full of obstacles, and demanding of our patience and understanding. We will bury another blue warrior, his body taken away by the evil that is among us, but whose spirit will reenforce our resolve to fight the good fight and know that his soul has earned his rightful place in heaven. Happy new year to all, many blessings of health and prosperity. We dont need the mayor, media, polititians, revruns to tell you what your worth, to second guess you, or love you. Everyday you put on the uniform, hug and kiss your family as you walk out your house door, walk in to rollcall, acknowledge your fellow officer, get in the squad car with your partner, answer the dispatcher, go answer a citizens call for help, close your eyes and say "today is going to be a good day", 19p, do report, chase, get into a fight with or arrest offender, end your shift turn in keys and radio, say goodnight, be safe to your extended family in blue, get home to sleeping family, and thank G-d for a good day. G-d blessed us with this call to duty and know that most of humanity appreciates the fact, that despite everything, they will always have that blue shoulder to lean and cry on. G-d bless the CPD, CFD, and their families! Happy New Year!

Cops like you give good cops like me a bad name. Do you believe that there should be two sets of rules? One for cops and one for all others? If you are drunk and you drive, you are going to jail! I do a lot of dui's and I will call my Sgt. to come on scene and then of course my Sgt. will order me to arrest the drunk cop/driver. So my ass is covered. Don't want to be caught driving under the influence? Then don't drive while you are drunk.

When I first got on the job the inspectors would write you up for uniform infractions and not just wearing your hat, vehicle stickers and not arriving on your job in a timely manner and leaving your job without clearing from the location of the job, were some of the biggest infractions. From what I hear their are a LOT of officers young and old who don't like clearing right away. I can see a lot of officers taking time in the near future and moral still going in the crapper, nothing short of hiring more officers and being treated with respect from the Mayor and our superiors in rank only can this begin to turn this department around. Cline was and will be the last superentendant fron withen the ranks.

Somebody supposedly informed McPuppet that this would have HUGE morale fallout and then he changed his position and wanted the tragedy changed to a line of duty death. This guy has no independent thought and is completely acting on orders from city hall even when it comes to the death of our members.

R J Smith, you are an ass hole.... Their was once upon a time when we could be the police. This was before video cameras on cell phones. The only time you saw cameras was when the media came out to video tape after hearing several 10-1's on their scanners.

You can't be the real police today, so let the drunks be drunks and pick up the pieces later... The important thing is for every officer to go home safely to their families.

For those who have to work tonight be safe, for those who are at home like me, either are on RDO status or have enough time to be on days or furlough.

You are Fucking Hilarious

For those that don't know or don't remember Cynthia White SHOULD be in prison and the only reason she isn't is that she "Flipped". And for that she got to keep her job, got promoted and then promoted again. She is a racist and dumbass! She is the poster child for CPD Brass!

off topic... anyone else see that cynthia white is a new inspector.. prepare yourselves if your a white or hispanic officer.. you are about to be targeted. she is the biggest racist out there and hates white people.

Cynthia is a whackjob, but she isn't a racist. She's as much a buffoon dealing with black officers as she is with everyone else.

Ole Puddin an inspector? What an oxymoron. But, her being a member of the Chicago Police Department is the biggest oxymoron of them all.

Helm XO of 021? Watch she'll be assigned to Area 1, or is it Central now, when 021 closes? How many bites of the merit apple has this non-police hack had?

Off topic but it should be mentioned how our former Superduperintendo has been slamming us and police cameras in the media:

http://www.theatlanticcities.com/politics/2011/12/surveillance-cameras-threat-police-privacy/806/

article also mentions Ms. Hamilton who is a lawyer, former prosecutor and former CC, taking her skills and failed country singer career to the dark side being a plaintiff's attorney suing the police dept and the city that formerly paid her rent, mortgage and law school loans. Talk about biting the hand that fed you.

Maybe her and Weis would make a good couple. . . .

025, Grand/McVicker swamped in a sea of blue lights tonight, even poor hard-workin' CFD Engine 125 tumbled outa bed and came over in case someone needed a Band-Aid. Fight from that Mexican banquet hall spilled all over. Wagon showed up too -- not needed, but at least one asshole got cuffed and hauled away in an unmarked. Things quieted down fast after that...

Wave-offs are always better than needing more help.

So, a Happy F--ing New Year to you, Mr. Stumbling-Gutful-Of-Tequila-And-Modelo-who lost-his car-keys-and-one-shoe-not-to-mention-his-girlfriend.

RE: The late Commander George T. SIMS, Jr., 11th Dist. (1965-1973), 4001 W. Fillmore St.

During my CPD career which began in Fillmo' under George Sims, he easily qualifies as my best boss ever. He inspired me with accounts of his ten year partnership with the late James Bryson. "Junior" was the commander of bloody, riotous Fillmo' during the most tumultous era in the entire history of the CPD. It was then that Fillmo' citizens, law-abiding or otherwise, first referred to 11th Dist. officers as "da REAL (muthafuckin') PO-leese".

Under the guidance of "Junior" and other Fillmo' veterans, I learned more about being an aggressive yet cautious and respectful street cop and made more Part I felony arrests than most officers will during their entire careers. In my presence, his integrity was above reproach.

What is your point about this legendary CPD leader which prompts you to slander a dead man?

It's not too late to honor your New Year's resolution: Stop talking trash and SHUT THE FUCK UP!

"Treat all people with respect, white or Negro. But there's always gonna be some muthafucka that be needin' an old-fashioned wood shampoo." - Cmdr. George Sims, April 5, 1968 (the beginning of the Fillmo' MLK riots).

God bless you, "Junior". Rest in Peace.

Well said- in years past if you got caught driving drunk your fellow Cops would quietly take you home (assuming you hadn't hit been involved in an accident).

Nowadays some of these jags will stand in line to turn you in, hoping for some play from the brass.

12/31/2011 08:45:00 PM

Very true. I don't have much time on but I remember seeing inspectors all the time. The new kids have no idea what it's like to have inspectors around.

However, with that said. I think some of the things should be bi-passed. For instance, I think it should be a choice of what you want to have on your duty belt. In fact I was having back issues and decided to get rid of my duty belt and just have my pants belt carrying my gear. My back has since improved tremendously.
