No PAX 501?

Someone in the comment section posted this:
  • 28 Years of service and this is the first time in my career NO Pax 501 Holiday Message.

That just screams low-class. Anyone see any sort of holiday greetings from the command staff? Yeah, us either.

I noticed 2 weeks ago on a Saturday and Sunday the department FORGOT to place the Daily Bulletin online.

When it finally came back on line they had a shitload of deaths that they missed.

REAL NICE.

This is what happens when there's no collective memory. Bring in an outsider, who doesn't know our traditions, and this is the result.

I want my daily bulletin on paper. I want to know who died, where the wake is, who's having a fundraiser... I want it in my hand at roll call. And I want my Pax/Fax 501, stupid though it may be.

I know the grass is alwasy greener but I can't imagine anywhere else being as fucked up as this place. In my short time on the job I'm disgusted by how the department has turned to shit. And when I talk to older coppers with at least 20 on, I realize I will never get the privledge of knowing what it was like to be the "real police." Goddamn liberals!

The bosses were too busy figuring out how they re going to screw us over next so I ll write it for them. First let me start by saying what a true honor it is to serve as the leader of the finest police dept in the whole wide world. 2011 was a very challenging year, J fed was relieved of his duties as supt and just when u guys thought it couldn't get any worse I came in and fucked shit up even more then he did. Still with all the challenges u guys were confronted with we as a dept were still able to decrease crime for the 6th year in a roll. That had absolutely nothing to with me because crime
Has dropped consistently no matter who the supt was. That can only mean one thing and that is u officers on the street must be doing a great job. U fine officers have a happy holiday season and enjoy the very few hours with your families as I well be sitting at home trying to come up with other ways to make yours jobs even more challenging for next year.

Iie to make it look better. Why not say the truth and fix the problem. But no we cant do that. Let me ask you this, and be honest, does it really matter? Does it, in the grand scheme of things, make a difference to you? Really, does it effect the way you will go out and do your job? If so, and your honest, then ok, I feel badly for you - but for me, it does not ming a damn thing.

I understand the whole tradition of it, I do, I get it. That crap though, really, does it mean anything? Does it REALLY improve morale? If so, i question those who feel inspired by it. Same thing when I was in the Military, I got a coin from the Command Sergeant major, or from the general of the base, and all of a sudden I was supposed to feel better? Miss my family less? Be inspired by this "good guy" who "knows" what it is like to be a lowly PO/troop? Come on, that is pure BS.

Same thing here. This is BS, this just seems like another reason for people to bitch about this guy - and really, do we need anything more? The guy is a TYPICAL New York/East Coast type, the my crap does not stink attitude, matched up with his Napoleon complex because he is under 6 foot tall.

There are plenty of reasons to hate the guy - because he did not write us an awe inspiring motivational message for the holidays is not one of them. My Christmas was just fine, I spent it with my kids and family, the people who truly care for me and who I work and doing everything for, and we had a great day and time. Even without Gerry commenting on it.

Just my two cents....Hope you enjoy your Kwanza and have a safe New year. Even if Gerry writes about it or not.

I got a few Christmas emails from a couple of bosses, but it doesn't surprise me that McGoofy didn't put out a PAX 501. He’s the kind of boss that thinks he rules by fear. He'll holler, rant and make demands like he's some sort of emperor, but in reality he's just another goof that no one respects. Bosses like him are a joke, and everyone acts like they're all yes sir, yes sir, but in reality most of them walk away saying he’s just a jagoff... which he is. I’m a Lt and I don't lead with an iron fist. That gets you nothing and is such a poor management choice. We're all the same--- we all have a job to do and want certain things from our careers, we are responsible for each other and all need to focus on going home safely; both physically and financially, I just make a little more money doing it. We'd do much better when we work together rather than working top down. He believes he's a know-it-all, when in fact it clearly shows that his law enforcement knowledge and strategies are few and ineffective, and the only way he can even begin to function is to try and change this department into the NYPD, because that’s all he knows. If it functions differently, he can't figure it out. He can't understand our command structure or our bureaus and districts, so in order to try and get a clue, he wants to change everything. Well, that too is destined for failure, even if the rank and file even tries to go along with it. We’ll have to make a separate thread for our honest and factual opinions of McNitwit, but for now, I didn’t miss the PAX 501 because the last thing I want to hear is the bullshit he spews and the political puppetry he functions from. Ok, we all know he's a jag, but the absence of a PAX 501 just shows his respect for us... NONE. But- it's the same back, and I'll bet we respect him a lot less the he could ever disrespect us.

Do you think those two low life coniving bastards knew about this all along? You can bet your pension on it. Well...maybe not your pension. That may not be around long. No wonder this state is broke. Handing out untold millions to these corporations to bribe them to stay in our state. Corporations and Banks in this country are sitting on $$TRILLIONS waiting for the economic dust to settle so they can use their ill gotten gains to fuck us some more. If they want to leave that bad let them fucking go. Sears will fold some time this year. Nice to know the Santa Twins in Springfield got their Christmas present from us taxpayers. Too many want love from this department.

This department does not love you. It didn't love you when it sent holiday greetings, it doesn't love you now.

You do what it wants and it gives you money. It gives you money even if you don't do what it wants.

It does not care what arrests you make. It does not care if you are brave. It does not care if you are hurt. It does not care if you are killed.

You are here now. At some point, you will be gone and replaced.

The supervisors don't care any more about you than you care about them. The supervisors care about themselves. At some point, they will also be gone and replaced.

No one will remember you when you are gone. No one will miss you. No one will talk about your adventures. They will talk about their own, just like you do now.

You time here only counts toward pension payments, nothing more. It was not better before, it is not worse now, it will not be better or worse in the future. It is the same now as it has always been and as it always will be. Only your perception has changed.

The department never backed you before, it never cared about you before, it doesn't care about you now, it will not care about you in the future. You are employee number XYZ. When your time is complete you will be excused and someone else will take your place. They will say the same things you said when you started, they will say the same things you say when you are finished.

This is what you signed up for. If you thought it was something else then you are a fool.

I'd rather he not put out any holiday greeting at all--because whatever he would communicate would be insincere and total b.s.

Get use to it, the new regime does not care about you. Any and all changes are not based on what is best for the department but rather what will boost the outsider's career and save the outsider's boss money. All decisions are self motivated. This is simply an experiment and if all goes according to the New York plan it will bode well on a resume. Rarely will you see the Chiefs interacting in the field, they do not want to discuss or defend the mandated plans and more likely do not want to hear the backlash. Haven't seen the Detective Division leadership out in the Areas in quite some time, not with the huge changes coming. It's just as well there was no PAX 501 out for the Holiday. Better to know the truth rather than getting smoke blown up your ass. Be safe and look out for each other.

I've worked for more asshole bosses in my 70 years on this earth than I care to recall. With the exception of two bosses, the rest of them were hell to work for, and going to work each day was a nightmare. Today's workplace is just that...you go to work and you receive a paycheck. The workplace is a business, and if you keep this in mind, you won't expect true friendship, decent bosses, or peace on earth good will toward men from your boss and/or co-worker..but if it does come your way, you are fortunate.

The city of Chicago (and many other cities) and the Chicago Police Dept. are under socialist/communist "new management." It is a grim realization, but a factual one. It is for each man and woman to determine how they will handle their business as it pertains to the workplace. Politically, you can start by selecting a conservative candidate in the Primary in the spring, and voting for that conservative in the November presidential election. Destroy the head of the snake that is oboma and the body of his minions will wither and die as well. The fight to retrieve this country from the grasp of the socialist/communist grip of a oboma will be the biggest fight of our lives...the alternative is the loss of the Constitution, our freedoms, liberties, our religious beliefs..think about how life is lived in Cuba, China, Venezuela, North Korea...

Hold fast to your family, your true friends and your belief in God. Stay safe and work together with like minded people to remove the corrupt, immoral anti-American element that is destroying America at every level. Change for good takes one step at a time....make that first step, and may God bless you all.

I think at the Lt./Sgt. MGT. training over at the Academy they teach/preach...

-don't associate with the "help"

-careful who you trust they'll fuck you so fuck them first

-the same people you befriend are the same ones that will ruin your career in the end!

-where there is smoke there is a forest fire/raging inferno always....never just a bit of smoke nor a campfire...but HELL follows each Officer with a problem!

-keep your enemies closer and keep no friends on this job close

-fuck the "help" but use no lube just a pen

-Rule 14 is worse than "Thou shall not kill" as far as anything written down ever goes...

-Never Lead by example because you should just supervise! This way if they fuck up, no worries because they can't blame you and though you will gain no respect from the men and women since you are a non-leader just a supervisor, you will be safe from the fear of not being promoted since you never fucked up by making any real decisions or getting involved to help the "help"!

-Never address the men just the women its safer on the scale of things

-Always be right!

Jeez here we go again with the nastys. What is meant is the front office and inside people are to be a support staff to the street people. Which means try and help the street people's job a little easier. My god you newbies are quick to retort.

Sorry I'm not a newbie or hairgel or whatever you call the young guys. I have over 20 years on and work the street in a beat car in the ghetto. (and no I'm not looking for an pat on the back) Do you help the inside people out with their inside jobs? No, didn't think so. The point is if you want a daily bulletin print one up. Years ago there were stacks of them printed up sitting on the desk. Most were never used or sitting on the floor of the squad car, under the seat, or on the shithouse floor. You can still be the police without a daily bulletin and if you want some info from one go on-line and print one. And sorry when I came on we didn't have computers to even look up any info. Signed KMA counting the "days" left until retirement. Do me a favor though, when you print one up after jan 16th 2012 can you sent it to me in Arizona where I will be residing!!!

It's also not like the "Old Days". They are very scared of being around any cops who are drinking. If a cop who attends a party gets into a DUI accident and a ranking chief was at that same party there will be a lot of shit if the media gets hold of it.

Sorry, but that is the truth.

What drivel. Unless the boss is POURING the drinks PERSONALLY, he has no responsibility.

You sound like some kind of wuss.

Bosses don't go to the parties they should be at because they are all clout-babies, who didn't come up through the ranks and don't know or care about tradition and responsibility. And there's nobody left to teach them how it should be done.

"Wilding" could get out of control this summer. Groups are organizing better now along with awareness of its potential profitability. Southside and westside gangs are now trying to cash in: Gangs will give out text lists of items they want to the mobs brass and the mobs will hit the store. Could see a "wilding" put on the apple store(s) and a number of other locations other than the Mag mile this summer. It's pretty dangerous for organized street gangs to have this as one of their arms for crime.

As an aside- Overheard conversation on blueline (between Irving park and rosemont)-

Thug1- nice up here bro. Lotta people with phones bags and shit.
Thug2- most going to ohare flyin out.
Thug1- pretty empty some these carts

This trash comes this far north and I'm going to start shooting.
