They Got Cameras, Right?

If there's any place that has more cameras than a CTA platform or station, we'd like to know so we can avoid them also. And aren't cameras supposed to prevent crime?
  • A man was found shot at a South Loop ā€œLā€ station this evening, police said.

A 21-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound in the upper torso in the attack in the 1100 block of South State Street about 7 p.m., said Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Darryl Baety. The man was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in serious-to-critical condition, according to the Chicago Fire Department.

Remember, it's 100% safe on the CTA. Come downtown! Spend money!

For decades that area was alive with hundreds of police coming and going every few hours (1121 HQ and 1st Dist), now it's just another overpriced yuppie wasteland loaded with criminals just an arms reach away!

Old Timer.

Here's a Chicago tip. If a place has south or west in the location stay away. Yeah there are exceptions but usually it's a good rule of thumb.

What's a 21 year old man doing on the streets at 7pm for anyway?

He's just asking to get shot.

He should be at home, locked inside his house resting until it's time to go back to his shovel-ready job so he can pay taxes and support the mayor and the governors campaign contribution tax break schemes.

We should extend the curfew hours for the peoples safety like we do for the chilllldreeeennnsss. Ya know..? These people have no business being outside their homes.

This was a result of the wilding that was going on in 018 all afternoon. A mob of 30+ was seen on the L platform at Roosevelt by po's wilding out and running prior to the shots fired. All those kids had been pushed onto the redline from chicago and state. They changed lines at Roosevelt were it all went to shit. Mobs running around 018 all afternoon , 19&20 Dist tact A3 strike teams called in. First hand knowledge . 1 in custody, weapon recovered on the tracks. Unsure if the kid in custody was the shooter

the ten o'clock news on cbs showed the victim being taken into an ambulance and swearing at the reporters and camera crew then throwing up gang signs as he was being placed in the ambulance...too bad the paramedics did not give that pos an iv with nothing but air in it

I hate to say it, but the mass transit unit has been a hiding ground for many years. Way too many of the officers assigned there duck for most of their tours of duty. It has been going on since the 80's. It is rare to see the police riding the trains and in the stations.

I bet if there was a tra$$ic camera on that platform, this heinous crime would not have happened.
More cameras now! You know, for the children.

You need more Police, not cameras. All the cameras at that station and they captured nothing!

Simple fact, they need to hire more Police! Every Police Dist./ Unit is way too short of people. Stop wasting money on cameras, that can't arrest anyone and rarely do any good at all. The picture quality is terrible and obviously they do not deter crime.

That wasn't gang signs the Ghetto Hood was throwing up. The paramedics asked him on a scale of 1 to 10 how much pain he had. See that...Cops jumping to contusions for no reason!

way to many officers!!Why don t u check 1st before opening ur mouth on the numbers. The unit is down to 130 and 1/3 on either on tac or canine. So maybe 80 p.o, s for all 3 watches to man 5 lines. And most of the time the deputy has some kind of fixed post assignments.By the way New York has around 3500 mass transit officers.

Can you read???? Didn't say too many he too many not doing shit but hiding. Whenever I worked CTA or was detailed on a platform I NEVER saw a copper assigned from Public Transit. Usually they are hiding in CTA employee lounge. I agree the PT unit should be much bigger, but the ones that are there don't do shit. The PT section should be about 500 with a good portion of that plain clothes and working on robbery patterns and following the roving herds.
