Someone Was Wondering...

...where's the promised equipment?
  • When are the replacement shields coming in as promised? When are the new gas masks coming in as promised? When and where do I get my eye glass inserts? Why am I hearing that I have to pay for them? What about the insert for the helmet to stop the pee and poop or bleach from running down off my helmet into my eyes blinding me after jagoffs through this shit at me? Do we all get a shield? Are they supplying the front line officers with relief every other hour? How about water, gatorade, sandwiches? Porta Johns? Extra Mace? Extra Ammo? Flex Cuffs? Emergency first aid kits? I say call in the National Gaurd and put them througout the city in groups of 25 troops. Let the people know if shit goes postal, the military will do what needs to be done to restore order.
We were promised the same thing. After more than a few Bulls riots, we can barely see through the plastic shield.

All one has to do is look at the settlements that are being paid out to the citizens that were unlawfully detained during the war protests a few years back. Talk about a cluster fuck. They had us commandering random cta buses trying to get ahead of of the protesters as they were making their way to Lake shore drive. After they were finally blocked at michigan and chicago anyone on the street was blocked from leaving. If im not mistaken the highest ranking officer on scene was Limon. And we all know how competent he was. We were told to start arresting everyone and to make sure we wrote our star numbers an the arrestees arms. Lol. Well you know what the smart ones did. These were all non violent protesters that just wanted to march. I cringe to see the chaos that will ensue in may.

It's all about managing the crisis that's being created so that it doesn't go to waste isn't it?

For example:

If you make your demonstrators buy millions of dollars worth of insurance you can stick all the used equipment that is either broken, outdated, or that you just don't want anymore inside the trunk of some broken down old police cruiser making the insurance company pay for those things when they go up in flames.

It's a win-win really.

A nice insurance windfall just prior to contract negotiations and immediately after the city burns down would be good for moral.

Look at all the new toys we're buying you now with that insurance money! The greedy union is not dealing fairly and needs to give us something back in return. Ya know negotiate. We're reaching out across the isle and no-one is willing to meet us half way. Just look at all we are doing for you..you have spoken and we have listened..etc.etc. You know how the story will get played!

If the politicos play their cards right they can delay spending any of that money dragging things out into the end of 2012 using it all as a tool for their re-election campaigns.

We can approve the spending right after the summits, then spend six months or so holding special committees and stuff to ensure nothing changes hands until just before elections. Yipeee hey look the economy seems to be getting better illusion.

All hypothetical of course and some would call it...well you know what they would call it. Nevertheless it's probable not to far away from reality given this corporate puppet controlled government.

While on the topic of promised equipment...

On of the guys on the watch shared this with me just today: while working on his Masters degree, he had to crunch numbers as part of a school project. What better to explore than the CPD's current situation regarding (THE LACK OF) proper equipment for the NATO and G8.

He researched various uniform and equipment suppliers and here's what he discovered...

As of 11 Aug 2011:

COMPANY: VCG
ITEMS: RIOT GEAR

PROPER BDU-

Proper BDU Trousers: $33.95
" " L/S Shirt: $33.95
" " S/S Shirt: $29.95

DAMASCUS-

Damascus Riot Gloves $23.95
" Chest Protector $96.95
" Shin Guards $59.95
" Forearm Protectors $18.95
" Gear Bag $73.95
" Elbow Pads $14.95

EMBRIODERY-

Star $5.00
Name Tag $5.00
Velcro Patch $7.00

HAT-

R & B Inc. - BDU Hat $13.95

GRAND TOTAL $417.50

GOOD riot-rated helmets (NOT the bullshit IDOT helmets issued to us in the academy), complete with leak-proof face shields can be had for roughly $200.00 depending on the vendor.

For the sake of argument, let's call the complete "Turtle Gear" get-up with helmet $625.00...which is about $175.00 LESS than what the city wants the clueless who would be dumb enough to volunteer to MFF to pony up.

Here's what I don't get: let's assume (generously) that 8,000 officers will see some kind of frontline action requiring the proper protective clothing/equipment. At $625 a head, this equates to an even $5,000,000.

Now let's go batshit crazy and pretend we actually have the "13,500"-strong department the media and brainwashed public think we do. Outfitting everyone at this fairytale number comes out to $8,437,500.

Now here's where you media fools need to pay attention. Unless the actual number is wrong, there's reportedly $56 MILLION in the kitty for this shit. Outfitting EVERYONE in your first line of defense in the protection of life and property (I think that's in our Oath somewhere) would be approximately 14% of the total, undoubtedly less because our true manpower numbers that actually see street/patrol duties are considerably lower (but this is a topic for another time).

Just exactly where is all this cash? Sure, a lot has to be spent on...ahem..."training costs", but surely there's got to be SOMETHING left over from that $56 million. Or did we not really have that amount of cash in the first place? These are very simple questions, formed from very simple mathematics, which will quite simply be ignored unless asked by the right people. Repeatedly.

Again, it must be stated that a beat cop doing a school project was able to research and crunch the numbers listed. That's right, a "dumb" blue shirt that, unless he purchases his own protective equipment, will likely be ill-prepared and ill-equipped come May, courtesy of inept planning on the parts of both the city and the CPD.

I was curious about the FOP comments. Has Mike Shields or the safety committee visited the academy and talked to the instructors for G-8 training? Has FOP or Shileds ever observed the 3 day training or the one day training? Have they ask or discussed the equipment problem with the academy or at 35th street? When you speak, have knowledge of the topic. Garbage in garbage out. Maybe as a leader, Shields, should learn more about the actual training and equipment before he speaks. Would it kill you Mike to sit thorugh the training? Or your safety committee? Who developed and designed this training? learn the facts first.

The new stars with RFID chips inside. Programmable to allow you into controlled access does like the key card doors in the new stations. Also capable of tracking ones movement through said doors (or anywhere with the proper sensors).

highly sensitive stuff will require a star, id card swipe combo. Sold to FOP as an asset to securing stations for officer safety, but it will be a sure way for the city to tell when you are at work our leaving early. This is the new punching in, but instead all you have to do is walk in.

Real hush hush stuff at 35th st. They really don't want anyone knowing until after it is implemented and they collect their data. It's been ready for months, but no boss will pull the trigger on an implementation plan, because they don't have their subordinates on board to be the fall guys if it fails (po's in the office are totally unaware).

Have fun with the early ducks and ghost cars guys, they will be having their fun pretty soon.

Everyone keeps asking "where's all the money going?". Here's a little inside on that. The department is counting in ALL wages from the officers that go to training and taking it from the $56 million. This includes 1day training, 3day training, refresher training, as well as the salaries that they are paying the trainers for doing the training.
From that $56 million kitty they are also subtracting Kirby and Stevie G's salary and ANY overtime and expenses related to training those two. They have both flown out of town for "meetings" and other g8 related stuff. That's right, all paid for out of the kitty. (Also anybody attending any sort of G8 related meeting)
It's nothing but a way to siphon from the kitty and return unused budgeted salary money back to the city's general budget to be used as the mayor sees fit (ie Corp incentives for his friends)
THAT'S why there isn't any money left for the equipment.

The way our helmets are designed everything is going to drip of the helmets down our face and back of our necks. Where is the fop to bring this up?

Where is the FOP union on this huge issue? Where is the FOP safety committee? Hiding in your office? Instead of listening to rumors, gather the facts about training and the equipment to protect the front line officers? Maybe there are plans in the immediate future that you are not aware of, Mike? Of course, the odds that Kirby and Georges looking out for the officers are slim and none, still conduct a fact finding mission. Hello Mike Shields.

I don't have any problem with the protesters expressing their beliefs. It's what this nation was founded upon. What I do have a problem with is them attacking the police, who enjoy the same constitutional rights as they do.

Attacking police doesn't serve any purpose except to hurt those trying to protect those constitutional freedoms and the welfare of citizens.

They would be better off expending their energy by mobilizing their enthusiasm behind political candidates who can effect the change they seek.

Attacking police will simply make them look like thugs. Anarchy doesn't solve problems.

Nice try Jimmy.

Mauer was in charge of this fiasco. He was in a hurry to get to Georgas and Kenneedy's promotion party at Excalibur and gave the order to clear it. His deposition on it was a complete mess. Our hero.

I don't get that POTUS is from here. A sane person would not want anarchy here in his home town. Wouldn't he do everything thing his power to make sure the line of defense holds?

His background is 'community organizer'. He is, at best, naive and idealistic, believing the protestors will do nothing more than carry signs and hold hands in the park whilst skipping around the fountains.
Rahm, however, SHOULD have known better.

Great job. The truth is out there. The right people need to see this.
Take a look at the Occupy Chicago home page and you can see the list of the supplies they have. Very interesting.
They have a new office at Cermak and lumber. A huge warehouse.
They will be better supplied than us.

He isn't from here. He isn't really from anywhere. He describes himself as a "mutt."

He seems to be from Kenya, and spends as much time as possible walking the beach in Hawaii, eating "shave ice." He has played over 250 18-hole full courses of golf since taking office, more than any other President.

Not a real confidence-builder.

Did you know that there is a meaning to those heroic statues in parks? Guy seated on a horse; there is a "code" that if the horse is rearing up, the rider died in battle; if the horse has all four feet on the ground, he died peacefully of natural causes. Something like that.

The Obama statue will have a milk cow laying on its side on the ground, with Obama standing there pulling at the reins, trying to make it get up so that a few more drops can be squeezed out...

At this point, with 4 months to go, it looks like Occupy and Black Bloc are better prepared than CPD. It is the perfect storm.
