Whoa, Is This True?

This would be incredible if actually true:
  • The lying, liberal, weasel Rahm keeps telling the press that the G8 will not be a problem. Really?

If it's not going to be a problem I wonder why the Chicago Federal Reserve Bank is actually planning on closing down for the entire week and moving their business operation to another midwestern city? Oops, that's still a secret and our great Chicago press hasn't stumbled on it yet.

    Shhhhhhhhs, don't tell them!
Rumors abound! Each better than the last.

Sounds like the Federal Reserve Bank is being realistic about the likelihood of problems.
Unlike our present 'leadership'.

I wouldn't be surprised.

Nor would I be surprised if the CME Board of Trade were to become a target. After all those arrogant traders taunting the less fortunate with their "get a job you dirty hippies" bullshit.

Time will tell...

Why does Rahm have so many barricades and bullshit construction zones all down Ravenswood to Berteau. We all know the lil racoon lives at 4228 N Hermitage...feel free to stop by and have a peaceful assembly or protest in front of his house.

Rahm time will tell. The time will be soon. If anyone remembers when it was held in Seattle it looked crazy. Huge clashes of protesters and police.

As a police officer I always pray for peace and the best outcome. No police officers like to see victims.

All the officers on this blog just want the best preparation to ensure a peaceful outcome. The city appointed management has a history of bad outcomes. Look at the taste and Chicago marthone. Let's prepare for the worst and hope it was all for nothing.

A lot of gun fighters train for hundreds of hours and never have a gun fight. Take a note from them.

We need more training and better equipment.

What is also fuck up about g8. Lack of training and ineptness in notification of training. I was told i'll be going for training in Jan. I was also told I will be doing this then that, near the frontlines than outer perimeter. The supervisor that told me this wanted to know why I didn't show for training? Reason: was not notify. This dept sux.

I heard McFaker on Sunday on Channel 7 blowing smoke and saying we expect 10,000 protesters, is he crazy? There have never been less than 40,000 in Pittsburgh or Seattle and it'll b closer to 100,000 ! They're lying to the public. WE ARE NOT READY FOR THIS ! Especially if we are underestimating the crowd. We had 500,000 for an immigration march in 2005 or 2006!

Three youths followed a Red Line commuter and robbed him Monday night in the South Loop, police said.

About 8 p.m., officers were called to Cullerton Street and Wabash Avenue after the victim told police three suspects followed him after he’d gotten off a Red Line traian and then robbed him of his cell phone, his wallet and backpack, according to police.

My wife works downtown at a major building/company and they are telling their employees to expect to be stuck inside the building all week as they probably will not be able to get out. They are stocking up on food and water.

You can be assured that the Justice Department will oversee the G8 to make sure no rights are violated by the police. Ballerino's civil rights violations won't count. Eric Holder hates the police.

I recently attended the refresher course for the G-8/Nato summit. There were several questions raised by other P.O.'s such as getting new equipment for this fiasco and what is the policy on processing arrestees . The instructors would only shrug their shoulders and smile and say, "the department is still working on it". This is absolutley amazing! We have been "training" for roughly 6 months. I was recently told that other cities that have held these events trained for more than 2 years in preparation of this event. This is the biggest joke of a city and a police department that has no idea how to conduct a major event. When the protesters are fighting with the police the districts will be up for grabs. Its a no win situation and Rahm ,this may be your swan song if this thing turns to shit and I am betting it will.

Civilian post: From the world of HR selection (I'm an I/O Psychologist), my prof in grad school had but one bit advice she drove into our heads that can help you guys out: Document Document Document. Sounds like this is what is going on now, albeit from Rahm and the other side (satisfaction surveys for traffic stops, G8 training class, etc....). The more of you that can document your (very valid) concerns about G8, the better. Be as specific as possible. Copy your bosses, when applicable. In the corporate world, they would be held responsible, not anyone beneath them. Good luck to all, and thanks, from what it's worth from one civilian.

Time is running out and these summits will be hear before we know it. When I went to the 3 day training back in Dec. I knew we were in over are heads but still had a little hope they would supply us with the necessary equipment.
Well, I just went to another 1 day of training and this fuckin city isn't giving us shit!!! Wow, they're going to retro fit our helmets with a new shield and put a lil rubber ear cover on it. These are NOT meant for this situation, and are the cheapest design this company offers (super seer SL1602).
We're supposedly getting new gas masks, but I'll believe that when it's in my hand. The hand shields are again the cheapest model the make, and they admit we will not have enough. You want your throat or groin protected.. Buy it yourself they said.
Since we are Chicago Police, we will adapt, overcome and kick ass when needed, but this city could at least give us the basic necessities. I hope the FOP has an attorney ready. Any copper whose injured during this from a lack of or improper equipment should sue the fuck out of this city.

Hmmm, it seems somebody is lying to somebody.

I say its time to join with the G8 protestors. Let's take to the streets. French Revolution Style.
Let's Bring Them All To Soldier Field.
Let's give them all fair trails, and after they are all found guilty.
Lets................?
OK Maybe Not.

This is classic politician. How could he possibly say the G8 Summit, will not be a problem ?
The really scary part for me is this.
Why does he really want to bring all this mayhem to his city? He is no fool. He knows there are going to be big issues with the violence. WHY,Does he want this ? WHAT Will this gain for him ? One thing for sure. He has a plan. You and I, are not part of that plan.

I am not a Cop, I'm actually a protester and I plan to demonstrate at the G8/Nato. I would like to know, from Cops, what should peaceful, non-confrontational protesters do to bring attention to the fact that the people, the workers, the police, and the firemen of this city were not consulted about this conference? I am sick of watching our city get federalized by imports like Weiss, McCarthy, and Emmanuel, and now the Secret Service is telling me I can't work for two days. How do we shut them down?

I'd expect many businesses will close early or won't even open, whether they're corporate and definitely retail establishments. After the G8 goons start launching firebombs the Red Line locust will swarm in and loot like its 1966' all up in here.
Let's see if anyone in the Dept will exercise constraint after getting pelted with a poop n' piss bag. Then it'll be like 1968 all over the news.
Yeah, theres never been any problems in Chicago, G8 will be a cake walk.
How much did the city pay for an AON insurance policy, you know, the company that insured the failed Olympic bid, the one that's moving it's corporate office from Chicago to London.
Sorry, I wont be a participant in the Rahm riots and the Gmac mayhem.

So when the districts go up for grabs, are citizens at liberty to defend themselves or is Rahm going to have a (temporary) suspension of our right to bear arms as well?

The shit is going to hit the fan, lots of personal property will be trashed by the heathens that are coming. Lot of coppers are going to be hurt. Lot of bad press will be put out by the liberal media. In other words a total mess and there isn't anything we as coppers can do about it except to stand tall together on the line when it happens.

Thanks Mr. Mayor for nothing. Just what in the hell did the city get for hosting these events anyway?

I know several people who's employers are looking at alternatives to their employees having to come downtown during the NATO/G8 riots, such as working from home and renting temporary office space in the suburbs, all so their operations aren't interrupted.

First of all, Rahm is no liberal. As Anonymous above stated, he's union-busting plutocrat.

Probably already telling you what you already know, but a CPL librarian says this really isn't about the G8. It's all about gearing up for all those public union contracts that need to be negotiated. Rahm will do anything he can to keep Chicago from looking like Madison.

Me? I still weep when I look at the clips of Wisconsin police/firefighters marching in support of the unions, led by pipes and drums. Solidarity Forever!!!

So can we get some solidarity here? Pipes and Drums marching on the G8? The people and the police putting the boot to the bussed in arachists, side by side? We don't have to put up with this. Lock those assholes in the airport, they can have their little conference by the McDonalds in Terminal 5.
