Seriously?

Anita Alvarez continues to make the entire Koschman affair look like the biggest coverup since Watergate:
  • Cook County State’s Attorney Anita Alvarez is fighting an effort by the family of David Koschman to make public transcripts of witness interviews related to Koschman’s homicide case.

“The wholesale disclosure of the information that the petitioners request would disrupt the ongoing criminal investigation and further undermine an already dim prospect of any future criminal prosecution” of Richard J. Vanecko, a nephew of former Mayor Richard M. Daley, Alvarez said Tuesday in an 11-page filing.

What future criminal prosecution? Hasn't Anita and her people said there will be no prosecution? Everything they've said to this point implies there won't be any justice for David Koschman.

Oh wait, the civil suit. Right, we had forgotten about that. Anita has to continue to protect the Daley crime family from embarrassment and the criminal justice system.

Maybe Anita can hire the Vanecko Widget Counters to continue the investigation into David Koschman's murder. Oh, did I say murder? Maybe it was just an accident. Poor David just tripped and fell on the sidewalk causing his fatal injury. Is that why coward Richard Vanecko ran off with his buddy after the "accident"? Alverez is a pawn of Richard Devine who is a pawn of Richard M. Daley. All of these fucks should be behind bars for their criminal behavior in this incident. It won't happen. Let there please be a Judgement Day so David can rest in peace.

The sad part of this is that there will be no civil suit. Its too late to file one. It seems kind of odd that the victims mom never made a sound til after it was too late to file a civil suit. This case will never get prosecuted and it will never be heard in civil court either.

WRITTEN BY MICHAEL CIRIC / 06 FEB 12/ CHICAGO POLITICAL COLUMN:

Cook County State's Attorney Anita Alvarez, in my opinion, is a walking contradiction. So much so that I seriously doubt she can be trusted when it comes to protecting the rights of "everyday citizens." If, however, you are connected to say, the former Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley and his cluster of political cronies, well, then there is nothing to worry about because it appears you would be more than safe!

The recent decision by Anita Alvarez to establish a new six-man team to solely investigate "wrongful convictions" appears to be designed to show voters she somehow has gotten a heart for the many everyday people who have been railroaded over the years by not only the likes of a disgraced Jon Burge or other corrupt members of the Chicago Police Department, but by those in her own office.

But kid yourselves not. This is all a ruse and comes at a time when Anita Alvarez' motives behind suppressing a full and transparent investigation into "what really happened" the night RJ Vanecko and his politically connected friends confronted David Koschman may prove her downfall. And let us never forget that that confrontation led to what has already been officially declared as a homicide and that no charges have ever been brought against all those involved.

I have suspected all along that Anita Alvarez was put into the one thing a career politician dreads - having to choose to between doing what is right or protecting those who have supported her climb up the political ladder. And I believe she has chosen the latter from the minute and the hour the Chicago Sun-Times exposed the irregularities surrounding the murder of David Koschman.

The Sun-Times have presented facts that would lend credence to their assertion that there has been a gross miscarriage of justice surrounding this case and that there is now a reasonable doubt that a conspiracy has been committed. Sadly, that conspiracy appears to not only include members of the Chicago Police Department but extend to members of her own office as well.

Many in the legal profession have stated on the record that the disappearance of a DA's files in a capital case just doesn't happen. Yet, in the Koschman case -files not only appear to have been mishandled but were subjected to some sort of a Houdini magic act to boot. Files disappearing and reappearing just doesn't happen! Unless, of course, someone wants to hide something?

Naturally, I am not the only one who believes that there is something very, very wrong here. However if you are unfamiliar with the events surrounding the RJ Vanecko and David Koschman encounter and official actions thereafter, please click here for my previous posts. All I can say is that people must judge for themselves if they believe in what Anita Alvarez has done is right or wrong.

Still, Anita Alvarez refuses to believe that an impartial outside investigator is needed to sort this out. If that is in fact her position, should people believe her when she says “In my view, my job is not just about racking up convictions, it’s about always seeking justice, even if that measure of justice means that we must acknowledge mistakes of the past?”

Seems to me acknowledging the past is not one of Anita Alvarez' strong suits.

Voters better take note , though, because one day -

it may very well be their kid who is killed by "someone connected".

I don't know if she still does it, now that we have a new mayor, but whenever Anita made an appearance, gave an award, sat on a dais, she always made an obligatory little complimentary speech at the beginning of her remarks.

She always praised Richard Daley, somewhat in the style of religious people, who first praise and thank God before they commence to the business at hand. I found it a little creepy and people were always a bit confused, wondering at the motivation of her remarks.

Not true. No way that we've been told we start at 0900 instead of 0930 (as it was the last 3 years) so as to avoid that extra 1/2 hour if we have court. Nor have we been told we can't call parole (when notified) during off-duty hours. No one told us that OT won't be approved if we call on off hours (as it has always been).

The mother of this kid must be going thru hell with the fuckery Alvarez is putting her thru.

Had the situation been reversed and the Kochman boy sucker-punched Vanecko, killing him, every effort would have been made to find the fleeing aggressor and Kochman would be sitting in jail right now.

If Mrs. Kochman or any one who knows her reads this, please tel her of two names: Holly Maddox & Martha Moxley.

In the late 1970's, Holly Maddox was murdered by Ira Einhorn & Martha Moxley was murdered by Michael Skakel.

It took decades for the family to find justice for there daughters because both murderers were protected by powerful and influential people.

After about 25 years, in 2002, both men were sentenced to spending the rest of there lives in prision.

My tin-foil cap tells me justice will eventually catch-up with Vanecko.

In the sad event it doesn't; if nothing else, I hope Mrs. Kochman's efforts results in Vanecko and everyone associated with the cover-up being identified and thus finding it impossible to walk in public without getting the stink-eye.

If anyone knows where donations can be made to help finance Mrs. Kochman's pursuit of justice, please advise.

Not a Cop

P.S. & off-topic, an amazing story every American should know about is the story of Don Scott and the Trails End Ranch Raid of Ventura County, CA. It is another story about how out of control our government becomes if we let it.

It's a story 20 years-old but in lieu of Waco, Ruby Ridge, the Bank Bailouts, Madoff, Fast & Furious, our getting screwed on the price of a gallon of gas in the midst of the warmest winter since the 1930's (i.e. high gas inventories), it's one more example of the serious assaults on our American way of life and the government tyranny that is borne from good men and women doing nothing.

While it is a story of out of control law enforcement officers and a obviously messed up department, my pointing to it is not meant to paint all law enforcement people and agencies with a broad brush of overreaching and corruption.

We have to acknowledge evil where ever we find it and we must take the appropriate steps to defeat it.

STOP WITH THE COVER UP CRAP. The facts are that Vanecko stood in a line up and was NOT picked by any of Koschman's friends as the person who threw the punch. They could not identify him. Venecko friend said Koschman was the aggressor. Koschman friends told somewhat conflicting stories as to how this all went down. Venecko made no statement, he invoked his fifth amendment right to remain silent on the advise of his attorney. Even if he had been identified as the person who threw the punch, there is no way he would have been charged with murder. Manslaughter(involuntary/voluntary) would be the only possible charges, and those are a reach. They are probation to five years max. Why was no civil case filed? You are sworn to serve and protect, all citizens, not just the assholes that call you in to the w/c office and tell you to "take care of this and make it go away". Your suppose to the make sure the investigation isn't half-assed, so the ASA has no other choice, but to prosecute. An investigation, where vanecko would be doing life in orange. Honestly, if this ass didnt think he did anything wrong, why run away from scene, holding hands with his buddy, like two school girls. Then leave their, so called girlfriends behind. It would have behooved these detective to treat the case as if it was their own kin and worked so as to gather the evidence led to vanecko at fault or not, for the young mans murder. Instead, they go on vacation, how convienient. It just doesnt look good. Instead they look complicit of a cover up of the clouted getting away with murder. If it wasnt that devine and daley are so crooked, one would think nothing of it, but it appears these detectives and devine/alvarez sold this kid and his mother out. Hopefully, the same injustice given this kid reaches all those connected. Nothing is more heart wrenching then burying a child, but its even worse when there is no closure, because the good guys, decided to serve and protect the criminal cook county machine.

The odd part in this whole mess is that the detectives involved are likely to get their heads handed to them for covering up a case that never needed to be covered up in the first place.

One has to wonder if they were trying to curry favor. They knew the evidence was not going to support charging anyone. Maybe they got too smart for their own good.

If you weren't there you don't know what happened (in the Area for the investigation). So stop talking out of your ass. I was there. No one got a phone call, or a visit. No one was 'rewarded' for fixing the case. Plain and simple, it did not happen. Vanecko wasn't identified and the victim's pals gave inconsistant statements. A tragedy, yes. But you can't charge anyone without evidence.

Please stop bad-mouthing the dicks, who by the way, were outstanding detectives and straight-arrows.

If they truly helped in a cover-up where is their reward? What did they get? Promotion? Money? What?

Short answer: Nothing.

Check the old Berlin case where the victim "Committed suicide" by throwing herself through a penthouse window of the Hancock building. You'd have to drive a car thru one to break it. Everyone on that case wound up a big boss. I think the victim's name was lorraine kowalski.

Not here tho. Not even a wisp of a reward.
