Weekend Starts Badly (Plus One)
At least for some people. We actually had a good day.
At least six people were shot Friday between noon and 8 p.m., according to Chicago police.
Two died.
Supposedly, G-Mac had a couple of commanders in his office to "discuss" the spate of shootings last weekend. We guess the gang bangers didn't get the memo to "knock it off" this weekend though.
UPDATE: Someone must have turned up at a hospital with a gunshot wound later. Add one to the totals.

I wish the bosses would finally realize that cameras, COMSTAT, missions, tactical deployments, belittling subordinates, consolidating districts as well as detectives WILL NOT CHANGE the human behavior of the street urchin. In 1823, Sir Robert Peel, the father of modern policing, realized this when he said that the police are there to CONTROL crime, not ELIMINATE it. If CPD were once ahain allowed to be the police, to do what they know best, policework without all the bureaucratic bullshit, we could make an effect on crime control. In recent times, our best efforts and results were when Hillard took over for those short months. Why? Because he shelved all the bullshit "games" of the previous Weiss administration and left the police deployments to the district commanders and allowed the street cops to have the time to do their jobs. And finally, established, once again, a modicum of decent morale among the troops. Gmac needs to take a few lessons here.

Does anyone know if the National Guard have been told they are on stand by or being held just in case? That the only logical thought I can think these guys ( Rahm) might be banking on. Otherwise this might go down as the worst planned event in history. Right up there with Hitler invading Russia. Who's Rahm goin blame? The Feds under his buddy Obama.
I ask anyone here- What exactly can a commander do to prevent these SAVAGES from killing one another? If someone has an answer maybe they can transmit them to the Superintendent and he'll make it the blueprint for future commanders. The police cant be everywhere at the same time, it's impossible. Especially since we're so short manpower. You cant do more with less with the police department so McCarthy needs to shut up already. His anov, event number and contact card method of policing is a joke too. Keep shuffling the numbers and manipulating the stats so you look good, we know the truth. He's really not that bad of a guy. He's just a little too intense and he let's his office dollies , all 4 or 5 of them, walk all over him.
That being said with 009 having almost a third of the city's shootings in the last 2 days I don't see how he keeps his spot.
What will his dollies do if they had to hit the watch? Get pregnant? They're very good at that already.

009 is experiencing shootings at an alarming rate and it's still Feb. How come 009 can't get any of the resources the other "busy" districts get? Is it because the entire district isn't ghetto like 007 & 011??
