Dart Appointee Arrested/Indicted

  • Confirmed: Tom Dart's top animal crimes investigator Larry Draus indicted... Media left out in the cold. Source says numerous high profile Animal Cruelty cases now in jeopardy! Update; Finally hits the press!

Blogger has confirmed that Dart's top Animal Crimes investigator was indicted after being under FBI surveillance for over a year. This investgator has close ties to the Sheriff and was even given the Humane Chicago Award in 2009 along with Sheriff Dart. Its ironic when anyone else has been arrested from our department Dart gives a press release. But i guess a different standard is applied when your close friends to Sheriff Dart himself. Why is this being covered up???
Is there any entity in Illinois that isn't rife with corruption?

UPDATE: 19thWardPolitics has a whole series of outlining how the Sun Times appears to be in the tank for Tom Dart. Hop over to this link and read their blog.

Speaking of corporate own corrupt political puppets.

As posted here on more than one occasion stories predicting the sale of the taxpayers assets of everything that's now nailed down is now expanding.

We now have corporate naming rights for the CTA up for bid! Woo-hoo!!

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/chi-cta-accepting-bids-for-corporate-naming-rights-20120316,0,6861074.story

So will it be naming rights for the schools or the police and fire departments next?

CPD police cars first and then the uniforms will look like a NASCAR driver jumpsuit with corporate logo's stuck all over them.

At least that will confirm the message that many of the citizenry already has about who CPD serves and protects. At least they won't be hiding it anymore.

Can't you just see it?

You call 911 and have to listen to some Bank of America or JP Morgan banking commercial before you get to speak with a call center agent.

Traffic tickets with coupons on the back for whatever the product or service corporate America happens to be pushing this week.

Heh.. you laugh.

Wait until you see what they stick into the envelopes when the out sourced corporation that starts mailing out those tickets from the speed trap cameras come. It won't be pictures of missing children that's for sure.

Although I would like to see them tear down that Daley name though. Take it off Daley plaza and maybe sell the naming rights to the China. Maybe that would remove the curse this city is under. We could call Daley Plaza Red Square or Tienanmen Square..whatever. Take down the Picasso and roll in a Abrams Tank. Chances are come this May downtown is going to look like a Mayday parade anyway..

When you're bankrupt this is what you do. Sell everything. Whore it out. Split up the proceeds.

You take a look at any third world bankrupt country and one of the last things that happens before a total collapse is that the elites raid the treasury before they leave town and it makes you wonder.

A Cook County sheriff’s officer and his son have been snared in a federal sting into contraband tobacco trafficking, authorities say.

On Jan. 30, sheriff’s Officer Lawrence A. Draus allegedly took $10,000

wrapped in newspaper from an informant for the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

The informant was posing as a trafficker in contraband cigarettes — those without a tax stamp.

For several months, Draus’ son allegedly extorted protection money from the informant, saying his father could stop police from busting a warehouse where the illegal tobacco was stored, according to the ATF.

The son, Lawrence E. Draus, also bought dozens of cases of contraband cigarettes from the informant, authorities said. Each case contains more than 10,000 cigarettes, officials say.

The son paid about $217,000 for 170 cases of contraband cigarettes and accepted about $60,000 in protection money from the informant since July, the complaint said.

On Jan. 30, Draus Sr. met the informant for the first time at a restaurant, accompanied by his son, authorities said.

Draus Sr. allegedly accepted the package of cash under the table.

“I am doing this for my son. I don’t care about anything. It’s for him. I

want him to do good,” Draus Sr. allegedly told the informant in a secretly recorded conversation.

The informant asked Draus Sr. to “scare off” someone “hovering around my business,” according to a federal complaint. “Get me his name,” Draus Sr. allegedly responded.

The informant provided Draus Sr. with the name of another man secretly working for ATF, according to the complaint.

On Feb. 1, Draus Sr., wearing a badge around his neck, allegedly confronted the man outside the warehouse. After a brief discussion, Draus allegedly told the man to “hit the road” and he left, according to the complaint.

Draus and his son have been charged with conspiracy to commit extortion. They were arrested Tuesday and released on their own recognizance, ATF spokesman Tom Ahern said.

“It’s early in the case,” said Brendan Shiller, attorney for Draus Sr. “He’s innocent until proven guilty.”

The sheriff’s office has been cooperating with the federal investigation since mid-summer 2011, said sheriff’s spokesman Frank Bilecki.

Draus Sr., a 35-year veteran of the office, has specialized in investigating animal crimes. He was relieved of his duties and suspended after his arrest, Bilecki said.

The Drauses were busted as part of a larger investigation into contraband tobacco sales, Ahern said. The investigation continues into whether anyone else was involved in the alleged extortion conspiracy, he said.

McGuire used to do his appraisal paper work at the Panera Bread at Canal and Taylor. that POS used to sit in his white Caddy at Ashland and 32nd St and write up city crews that stopped to pick up coffee on their way to their first job of the day.

The only work Capt Mags ever did was when he worked 005 tact with Stan S. (A2hgs). Stan would make that lard ass get out of the car and at least stand there while Stan did the police work. Mags was more concerned with trying to figure out which co-worker had a heavier clout then he did then trying to solve a crime. If not for his good friend and 19th ward heavy - Jimmy H - and Jimmy's close relationship with Cook County assessor Hynes, Mags would have retired as a P.O. Out of 005.
Oh yes, he made sgt off the 1985 test (notify the w/c & pen and paper - oral board) but only after the last class off that test was made the friday before Labor day -1991.
For some unknown reason he was notified via a phone call from a higher up to report to the academy on Tuesday as the only add on to that class - making him the last one to be made off that list.

Mags talks a good game, but he was all talk, nothing more. Another bitter political hack who felt entitled to a gold star.

How much for a carton of Marlboros?

It will only get worse resulting in reduced tax collection, not more. People are fed up with the high taxes and thieving lying politicians so they are just not paying the tax.

Every small convenience store has cigarettes with no tax stamps behind the counter that only their known customers can buy.

And now the State of Illinois will cut into their lottery profits by selling lottery tickets online, cutting out the middleman, the small convenience store.

So how long before they start running their own numbers games and just use the Illinois Lottery to pick the numbers? All they have to do is increase the payout from $500 to $600 on a typical pick 3 winner and they cut the state out entirely.

The sad fact of the matter is that everything that has been said about Mags is true. When he was a Lt. assigned to 003, he spent months on the medical as he did not want to work midnites in 003. Finally, 1st Dep Thomas and Supt Hillard finally returned Hynes repeated calls and moved Mags. All the big bosses at HQ's hated Mags because of his blatant medical roll abuse and word would get back to the bosses about his constant criticism of these same bosses while he was hanging in the bars on Western.

Mags was made capt just to appease Hynes and Hynes was told at that time that Mags would never be an exempt. Hynes couldn't understand why not as this 350 lb bullshitter had Hynes believing that he was the World's Best Policeman.

It's not on the front page because it's just plain old corruption. People are used to it.
