No Parade Change

  • A city of Chicago administrative hearing judge has upheld the denial of a march permit for NATO protesters.

Administrative Law Judge Raymond J. Prosser delivered his ruling late this afternoon, backing the city's claim that a parade through the heart of the Loop on the first day of the NATO summit would create an unnecessary public safety risk.

The city has proposed moving the parade start to Columbus Drive in Grant Park and skirting the Loop on its path south to McCormick Place, where members of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization will be meeting May 20-21.

The protesters, led by organzer Andy Thayer, had been given a permit for an identical march in the city for May 19, which was to be the first day of the G-8 summit. But after President Barack Obama moved G-8 to Camp David, Thayer's group sought to move its march to May 20 for the first day of the NATO talks.
Of course, this isn't the last word. Expect lawsuits at the federal level, who look upon local authorities' attempts to quash First Amendment issues with a jaundiced eye.

I have a feeling that no judge is going to reverse this order; those protesters will just have to pack it up and move it the fuck out of Chi, which is going to be a good thing, considering that the City is so woefully unprepared to deal with this.

Does it really matter to police? They are going to march (aka walk, protest, create disruption on purpose) anyway.

CIVIL DiSOBEDIENCE is a must, disregard the permit that's the whole point of a protest. There aren't enough police to stop shit..look at the record killings combined with the low moral of the CPD thanks to "The Racoon".

Obama can not afford another clash with rioters and the police like in 1968. It might ruin his perfect reputation.

Wait a minute. You guys sound like you are unhappy that Andy Thayer and his band of misfits have been denied the chance to yell and scream and cost the City millions. I'm not.

It's funny how this denial came on the same day the feds announced more money is being given to the city to help with security costs.

Thought I saw Andy Thayer on the news speaking about how they will be marching with or without a permit.

Does anyone think they would honor the permit to begin with?

Will try and do whatever they want.

They will march with or without a permit.

Our limited manpower will not be able to stop them and they will show the Mayor what a goof he really is.

Sure, mass arrests may be made and we will look like 1968 all over again. You cannot stop this demonstration and Rahm knows it.

Frankly, I hope they shut down the entire Loop Area so that Rahm looks like the Jackass that he is!

I would not endanger myself or my partner by trying too hard to get injured with this folly, just observe and watch, after all, we have all those Blue Light Cameras to Catch the real offenders, right Rahm?

Q.-- If this is so, why waste time applying and reapplying and dragging it through court again and again?

A.-- Shrill, pathological attention-seeker. Gets to be on TV every time.

>yawn<

Andy, Andy, Andy, whole world revolves around Andy and his lousy "protest."

How can you stand yourself?

Why have the NATO meeting at
McCormick Place and tell the
Metra and South Shore Line
riders f*ck you,if you won't
be able to board your trains
home because they won't be
running under McCormick Place because Barry's "associates" will be
there and we don't want no
assasination attempts on our hands (Secret Service).
And besides, their safety and security means more to us than your getting home.

...or maybe they will flash mob 4228 N Hermitage in the middle if the night with dark hooded sweatshirts and bottles (of iced tea) in hand then disappear towards the Metra train tracks on Ravenswood making good their escape. Hmm...public information.

We know what to do,discussing it on the blog is not one of them. We need to discuss things NOW in SMALL trusted groups out of earshot of bosses. We have been painted into an unwinnable corner and have to make a statement. NATO is the opportune time.,Know your General Orders and don't be dumb enough to try and think no one is watching.

I'll never understand why everyone says what a world class city Chicago is. Sure, downtown is beautiful and impressive, but 70% of the city is a run down ghetto.

"God forbid we should ever be twenty years without such a rebellion. The people cannot be all, and always, well informed. The part which is wrong will be discontented, in proportion to the importance of the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty.... And what country can preserve its liberties, if its rulers are not warned from time to time, that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to the facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure."

Thomas Jefferson

We took an oath to uphold the Constitution of the U.S.

Where does it say in that document that you need a permit to protest the government?

We already complain that people like Daley and Rahm want people to get permits to exercise their 2nd Amendment right to bear arms, don't we?

What's next? A permit to exercise your First Amendment rights?

We may agree or disagree with them, but they should not need a permit to protest.

LATEST ON PERMITFEST--

WBBM Radio today, the usual shrill, abrasive, nasal whining of endless complaint from Andy Thayer.

Today it's "We're going to meet with the city and we will grudgingly accept the FREE use of the Petrillo Bandshell WITH NO INSURANCE REQUIREMENTS. Either that or we go to Federal court."

He actually said "grudgingly."

If Occupy has the money to rent offices, Occupy has the money to pay for use of city facilities and meet liability insurance requirements just like anyone else.

Fuck this asshole.

PERMITFEST CONTINUES --

Andy Thayer's OTHER unbelievable demand is -- get this --

"The City of Chicago will back us up if the Secret Service keepsus too far away from McCormick Place to be heard there."

That's right. The Chicago Police Department is going to form a spearhead for Occupy -- a massive flying wedge -- and charge a Federal security perimeter to engage in a pitched battle with other law enforcement agencies.

Do you have a crack problem, Andy?

Hi Andy. Repeat, repeat, repeat this material. Cameras on, whole world is watching, no one can do anything, etc.

How do you stand yourself?

Oh -- taking out the garbage, obeying stop signs, etc. is a
"higher form of patriotism" than you will ever understand.

Guidelines for this discussion --
If a posting does not clearly state that "Andy Thayer is a piece of shit," it was probably written by him.

Half of the material on here seems to be produced by one person at Occupy, intended to divide and demoralize police, "you can't do anything to us, cameras are there, whole world is watching," over and over and over again. Piano with one key.

Plonk plonk plonk plonk plonk.
