Now THAT is Service

Imagine being a citizen, just a regular schlub, and you get pick pocketed downtown. You head over to the district, wait for the desk crew to fill out a police report, maybe start making your calls to cancel credit cards and figure out how you're going to replace your ID and other crap you carry around.

If you're lucky, you might get a call from the detectives in a few days, maybe a week. If you have a conscientious detective, they might pull some video or try to find some tape that could assist in identifying a culprit, but reality being what it is, the wallet is pretty much a write-off.

Evidently, that isn't the case if you happen to have a parent who runs a large metropolitan police department:
  • SCC, thought you'd like to know the sups daughter got her wallet taken in 018 and the case is assigned to "Area Central RBT". Not only assigned, but it got a 4-detective team to backtrack her movements. They pulled security footage of her entire route. The OT was 24+ hours for the team of dicks, almost like years past.
The RD number has been locked down so only the assigned detectives and certain supervisors can view the case report and any attempts to run it will raise a red flag at HQ. So whatever you do, don't run HV-184000. You will be answering a lot of uncomfortable questions.

It certainly is amazing that the homicide clearance rate is hovering around 30%, but the department can spare 4 detectives and a blank overtime check for a pick pocket case.

When the head of the Party's enforcement arm takes a hit, all focus on solving the problem. All good communists are glad to help.

If the head of the security apparatus is not happy, he won't tell people the beaches are closed because of heat or say how bad guns are in a Phake church.

I'm just surprised that Pravda, I mean the Fibune or Scum Slimes didn't write a story praising the effort.

Was she sober? Cline's kid was drunk and riding on the Blue Line. Suck Holes came out of the woodwork at A/4!Detectives were brought in from A/5, something unheard of even when women were raped on the "L". To see grown men stepping over each other to kiss ass was disgusting. The kid's story kept changing so the report had three or four re-writes. Innocent victims of crime get treated like shit, but the kids of bosses and political hacks get real service, even though it is usually their own arrogance and stupidity that makes them victims.

The female let 1 round go (Thank GOD she was carrying who knows the outcome if not), but she missed had a breathing problem was ruched to the hospital, the 3 punks fled in a vehicle. The problem we need it out here, the type of car, does Food 4 Less have any cameras in the parking lot? they took her purse, and Burbank had the thought to call CPD and give her home address as they had her purse, and CPD sat on her home,lo and behold her purse was found near her home with items from it strewn about! She had someone home, could you imagine the scene if the 3 punks would of got in her home with the key, what do you think would of happened to her kid??

To: "And if you were Supt., you would be doing the same thing."

No, I wouldn't be. I was not raised like that and it pisses me off to think that everyone would "use" their clout, or phone call, or their office, to take advantage of some situation. My mom and dad did not raise me like that.

And if their were bosses who had that same ethic, this would be a different department, but I know that is not the case. Instead, many people fall what Mike Royko thought the motto of the city should be: "Where's mine?"

People can make choices and McDrunk, many exempts, politicians and others make choices that bring them no respect. Respect may not line your pockets, but I've never seen anyone go to jail because of it.

So, shame those who are of the mentality that they will use their clout, or their position to get what they want. I try never to dishonor my parents' memory by saying, "Fuck what they taught me. They didn't know shit by instilling in me respect, cause that ain't how the real world works."
