Police 3 - Robbers 0

  • Three masked bandits and a store clerk were wounded in a wild shootout that occurred after officers were alerted to a robbery on the city's West Side, officials said.

    Authorities said it was unclear whether the four were wounded by Chicago police, who arrived to witness the shooting, or by the men themselves, as the gunfire spilled out into the streets of the South Austin neighborhood.

    Officers fired on the men after arriving to witness one man firing on three outside a beauty supply business in the 5100 block of West Lake Street -- adjacent to the CTA Green Line's Laramie station -- at about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, officials said.No officers were injured in the shooting.

That's all that really matters there - no cops hurt. Nice job Austin.

It matters that the clerk was shot. It would've been nice if he hadn't been shot.

It also matters that the other three shot are still apparently breathing. It would have been nice if they weren't. However, if they were kind enough to die later today or even during the coming weekend I would forgive them for their tardiness.

Excellent job by the P.O.s. as usual in 15 despite the destruction being done to the morale of this dept.

Wonder how long it took the dics to get there from Wisconsin.

Heard several Area 1, (yes Area 1 and not central) had to respond to a job at Nagle/Berteau vicinity because Area 3 (yes Area 3 and not North) ran out of dics.

What has McMANIAC done to this police dept?

Does anyone notice that this new "zone" policing that the department has come up with is completely ignoring beat boundaries and beat integrity?

You have cases in which the zone you are assigned to as a beat car only covers part of your beat. You are ordered not to leave this zone and oemc will not give you a job outside of this zone. The citizens should be made away that the beat cop they thought they had assigned to them may no longer be there.

There are jobs pending on beats that the assigned beat car can not respond to because the zone does not cover the entire beat.

Just curious if you were aware of this Story. I think this could potentially turn into a huge scandal

http://19thwardpolitics.blogspot.com/2012/03/county-board-president-toni-preckwinkle.html

County Board President Toni Preckwinkle alleges Sheriff Tom Dart made a side deal with Securus Technologies. Is she alleging Sheriff Dart somehow personally benefited from this multi-million dollar contract?

Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle is calling on the jail to stop a phone service that charges inmates $15 for 15-minute calls. According to Preckwinkle's spokesman, the board president just learned about the $15 calls when WBEZ approached her office for comment last week.
Preckwinkle's

Preckwinkle's office said the agreement for the $15 calls did not go through her office. She's recommending that the county discontinue what she calls a side deal which that Sheriff Tom Dart made with Securus Technologies, the company that has an exclusive contract to run the phone system in the jail.

Securus Technologies will not explain to WBEZ why those calls have to cost $15, or what that $15 pays for.

Preckwinkle and Dart have both been denying that they pushed for the revenue sharing contract with Securus. The contract charges the mostly poor inmates severely inflated phone rates and then the phone company pays 57 and a half percent, about 4 million dollars a year, back to the county.

The support from all was amazing. A great job by all and as SCC stated no police injured. That's the most important of all !!

Great job ladies and gentlemen

Wild shoot out?

I hope the media covers this in the way you did.

But, I doubt it.

As for charging more for boat owners to dock their boat in Chicago marinas (which BELIEVE ME - are NOT as nice as some of the marinas around the rest of Lake Michigan), one boat owner commented in the SunTimes that he will pay the surcharge if they use it to pay for the mental wards they want to close down.

He also said he will pay it when they reduce the number of Aldermen to 25. I think that is a GREAT idea.

The money saved by kicking out the Aldermen, their staffs and their ward slush funds can be used to equip the CPD with new radios(with real interoperability), shotguns in EVERY car, and the latest in riot gear for all.

CPD needs equipment - so get it for them.

I agree. Leave this thing alone. If you need something related to cook county jail inmates, contact their Intelligence Section. They control the equipment used for the calls. It can be very helpful with CPD investigations. The guy in charge is retired CPD, very helpful. I don't want to go into details here but the system can be very useful to put bad guys where they belong.

* "barber shops" -- sometimes two and three, right next to each other

* "nail art parlors" (unsterilized instruments, horrible flesh-eating staph infections reported)

* "cell phone providers"

* "bridal gown boutiques"

Do the hustle!

Well maybe you should talk to zone 7. Which unless your are in a first name basis with the dispatchers you'll get hammered all night with jobs. They'll even give you a domestic 10 minutes before your shift is done and the relieving watch is out on the streets.

Ps It's easy to operate in a controlled atmosphere. If you are hungry or need a potty break no problem. Not if you are driving aroung in a shit neighborhood. And also stop pinging us with the fucking gps. We know when you do that. But when someone calls for help you can't find the car. Wtf.
