Sun Times Discovers Playboy

Once again, Frank Main plays "catch-up" to the new media:
  • An imprisoned Chicago cop claims in an interview with Playboy he’s innocent of a plot to kill a fellow officer — and blames his former partner for being the one who wanted to carry out a hit.

Last year, Jerome Finnigan was sentenced to 12 years in prison after pleading guilty in federal court to a murder-for-hire plot and tax evasion for failing to report stolen cash as income.

In court, he admitted he tried to arrange the murder of a fellow cop he suspected was talking to the feds about thefts that he and other members of the Special Operations Section were committing on drug dealers and innocent citizens alike.

But in the April edition of Playboy, Finnigan changed his story, laying the blame on ex-partner Keith Herrera, who wore a wire on Finnigan to expose the murder-for-hire plot.

We suppose Frank was checking out the pictures and that led to the delay in actually reporting on the article.

Timing is everything in life. Sounds like there are still some loose ends in the SOS saga.

Time will tell but from what I read into it the G is looking to grab some more players.

Don't think it is finished yet!

As usual CLOUT can keep you out of prison, and even get you promoted no matter what you are involved with....be careful boys and girls, one mistake and you will be Rod's bunk mate.

When I read the article, I was quite surprised to see Bart Maka's name. Bart and I were in the academy together. He was a nice outgoing guy back then. A few years later he shows up in 025 on a regular basis. He would ask me to write his movers for P/C on his arrests. He was very pushy and seemed desperate to find someone to do it. It made me a little uncomfortable and NOW I see why! WTF Bart?!

I think the bigger issue is Kirby's cover-ups.

Finnigan should be doing Life. When he went after that cop to wipe him out he should have gone away for good.

obviously you dont know how the feds operate. If the feds were going to indict they would have done it by now.

It made you a "little uncomfortable", but ya did it anyway, huh dummy? You know WHY you felt uncomfortable? Because your conscience and gut feeling told you something wasn't quite right with Bart's request. Times like that are when even-keeled people stop, take a step back and assess what's going on before they commit to their next action.

It SHOULD make you uncomfortable, because you may find yourself disclosing your every last asset when one of the recipients of your PC ticket decide to sue Maka and Company for some kind of civil rights violations. And there'll be YOUR John Hancock on the first complaint that "helped to forever ruin my client's livelihood".

A FNPC coupled with an allegation of "brutality" or false arrest/imprisonment can, and will, haunt you for years after you think it all went away.

KMA says: "Everytime A Lawsuit Is Filed, A Hairgel Gets His Wings".

That's smart tell as many people you can that you wrote bogus tickets to justify Pc for someone convicted and fired for stealing.

The best they could do is tax evasion and conspiracy? Most of those guys are back on the job. It's over and it was all bull shit.

Screw you Finnigan and your greed for making my job all the harder.

Rot in jail and be forgotten except for the lesson taught.

That said, maybe this should be the first of a series of Playboy articles, and I am not thinking, "Women of the C.P.D."

Since local media is in Rahm pocket, perhaps the writers of this article could be persuaded to delve into other juicy scandals.

Like, "Where Did All that Money Really Go?" The Skyway, Parking Meters and all the things that were supposed to make the city solvent not drive us further into debt.

What are the real crime stat numbers in Chicago, how are they being buried, skewed just plain lied about. Not even Pam Zekman wants to touch this one.

How about the real numbers of the Chicago Police Department. The attrition, how CompStat is a failure, how morale is been all but lost. How Rahm lost G8 because he stripped the CPD and could lied to everyone about that but the Feds.

Maybe Playboy could do this since no one else is willing to do it.

Stay Safe, maybe McGeneralissimo could pose for the centerfold.

I think it is copywrited material. I would expect a DMCA complaint if it was posted without permission. maybe someone can get permission to post it. It would not hurt to ask.

3/21/2012 03:42:00 PM

Um, SCC has already made it clear they have access to it.

And, no, SCC can't print it, even if they're willing to blow that much bandwidth. It's illegal to republish copyrighted material.

So, if you want to read it that badly, borrow one, buy one, or pay for an online subscription.

After reading the Playboy story.
You must ask a question of how many CR numbers that this crew of SOS members were named in?

Then ask how many of these CR numbers were closed with no investigation?

And if memory serves me, there was stink of a TO/From written from a IAD investigator to the IAD Chief showing the pattern of allegations involving SOS members.

IAD tried to throw the IAD investigator under the BUS for it. Then played dumb to the pattern...

That proves that IAD and SOS were holding hands and killing the investigations.

At one time Jerry Finnigan was a nice guy and a good policeman but he started believing his own publicity. The moral of the story is stay humble and be kind. You're going to meet the same people on the way down the ladder that you met on the way up.

Why hasn't anyone from IAD been charged for the coverups?

Those bastards let this shit happen and caused alot of coppers to go bad.

Peer pressure and the fact that you know you have a free pass to rob and steal as much as you want becomes a big enticement after awhile.

I liked a few of those guys. Too bad IAD wasn't corrupt, alot of this wouldn't have went down and nobody would be in prison.

BR is the first person who gave everything up,then BM.

There are a few more people from teams other than Finnegans that might want to consider cutting a deal before the hammer drops.

First on the bus gets the deals. Who wants to throw their career away and go to prison?

Everyone who cooperated is still employed by the CPD and doing okay.

If you wanted to keep your sweet 4-6 hour a day gig you would do what you were told to do too.

Just look the other way and mind your business.

A take home car, no supervision, soft clothes, your own work schedule, no radio jobs and no danger, holidays and weekends off.

See how it works, who would want to give all that up?
