Wrigleyville Riot

  • Authorities shutdown part of a North Side street after multiple reports of fights and general chaos were reported in Chicago’s Wrigleyville, Lakeview neighborhood.

Sunday, around 2:26 a.m., police were notified of a street brawl at the intersection of North Clark Street and West Cornelia Avenue.

A 911 caller said ten people were fighting in the street, said police dispatch.

At 2:37 a.m., an officer at the scene said the people in the area were “out of control” and there were “cars and people, everywhere”.

Shortly thereafter, authorities blocked southbound traffic at North Clark and West Addison Streets.
It's like the first wilding of spring!

A warm week on tap, summer on the way, baseball season hasn't even started yet and manpower still decreasing while all resources are being directed to the badlands of 007 and 011. Look for a boatload of these "mini-riots" popping up all over the "quieter" areas of the city as the ne'er-do-wells go to where there is no police presence and easy pickings.

Needless to say, those Swedes pissed themselves and Ikea ditched that I'll fated ideaX lickety split.

Not sure if that's still a possibility or if they are doing it, as I work days. Baseball season is only a few weeks away, and NATO is the same weekend as Cubs/Sox at Wrigley. That should be a great time.

With the Ides of March and St. Paddy's Day upon us, the only certain indicator will be roving bands of flash-mobbing Amish youth "picking Apples" and Air Jordans from hapless vics and tony boutiques on the Magnificent Mile and the Gold Coast. Predictably, local media will ignore these rites of springtime and guzzle the Kool-Aid gushing from Fort Fellatio and City Hall.

FDIC Closes William Beavers-Linked New City Bank in Chicago

Updated: Friday, 09 Mar 2012, 6:38 PM CST

"Chicago - Regulators have closed New City Bank in Chicago -- a bank that counts indicted Cook County Commissioner William Beavers as a "vice chairman."

"This is the 13th bank to fail this year. By this time last year, 23 had been shuttered.

"The Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. said New City Bank had $71.2 million in assets and $72.4 million in deposits as of Dec. 31.

"The FDIC did not find another lender to take over the bank's operations, so it will mail out checks to depositors in the amount of their insured funds.

"The agency said it needs to obtain information from New City Bank customers to determine the number of uninsured deposits at the bank. The FDIC insures up to $250,000 per depositor.

"The bank failure is expected to cost the deposit insurance fund $17.4 million.

"New City Bank is the second FDIC-insured bank in Illinois to fail this year."

Ahhh..the smell of gunpowder drifting through the air of the porous border regions of Chicago.

Spring is definitely here in the Sanctuary city.

On a related note the web site Trulia has tweeked it's crime maps so that they now show heat maps for violent crime as opposed to just crime in general. Check it out...

=====

Where Violent Crimes Happen

....

So to illustrate where these violent crimes happen, we’ve added a new mode on our Crime Maps which allows you to view the ratio of violent-to-nonviolent crimes. Here, we count crimes such as shootings and assaults as “violent” while petty crimes such as vandalism or theft are “nonviolent.”

...

To show you what we mean, let’s do a deeper dive into Chicago’s crime scene.

When you look at the city through our Crime Maps, there is a lot of crimes being reported downtown along the Chicago River in the Loop and Near North Side as well as pockets of crime in the suburbs.

Let’s talk about what’s happening downtown first. As most locals will tell you, this is a pretty affluent part of the city…so why does it look so shady? To figure this out, we took a closer look at the specific crimes being report and the answer was clear. This area is a prime target for thieves who are looking to rob department stores and cars, and few of these crimes are considered violent.

Now, let’s talk about the suburbs as we turn our attention to the violent crimes map of Chicago. When we look specifically at where there’s a higher proportion of violent crimes, Chicago’s downtown area seems really tame. Where you really need to watch your back is in the suburbs outside the city – which is where there seems to be a lot of crime in general. Dun, dun, dun…

======

Heh..the only problem with the above statement is this. Double-click on the crime map and look closely at the scale. Zoom in or drag the map south or west. The area that they are referring to as the "suburbs" is actually the south and west sides of the city!

Anyways, so if you just want to get robbed or have your car vandalized or stolen you go to the downtown Green Zone where the Fortress of Bullshit is then.

I thought McCarthy was supposed to be concentrating on these minor crimes that are happening downtown because it prevents the major crimes from happening. Broken Windows crime fighting and all that jazz.

The trend on this map that is used by people considering moving to Chicago will be fun to follow as Rahm's 2012 Summer of Summits unfolds.

Book(mark) 'em Danno.

FYI: we are on pace for over 160+ shootings in March(a high I haven't seen in years). With this warm weather we could very well end up with 200 shootings IN MARCH ALONE! Numbers like that don't usually happen until July.

However, homicides are holding steady, on pace for about 31. I do expect that to change this week with the warmer weather.

Stay safe!

I am a memebr of the Southside Irish Parade Committee and want to extend the committee's thanks to the men and women of the Chicago Police Department who were assigned to the parade on Sunday, March 11, 2012. Over the last several months, many, including some from CPD said there was no way this parade should ever be allowed to go forward. The Parade Committee work tirelessy with CPD officials to make sure this event was safe and family-oriented. The Chicago Police, under the direction of 22nd District Commander Robert Harbesheimer deserve all the credit for the success of the parade, they committed the proper resources in the right locations to ensure none of the problems of the past were allowed.

Every day of the year the CPD is under the microscope and criticized at the drop of a hat, they deserve much better from the residents of our city.

On behalf of the entire Beverly Morgan Park community we thank you for dedication and service.

ATTENTION ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT EXPECTANT MOTHERS -- COME TO THE SANCTUARY CITY TO MAKE YOURSELF A BETTER LIFE!

-------

Medicaid pays for 94 percent of teen births here, but program can’t be cut

Monday, Mar 12, 2012

* Cutting Medicaid eligibility isn’t going to be easy, or perhaps even possible in some cases…

Medicaid paid for 89,621 Illinois deliveries in 2009, the most recent year for which statistics are available. That was nearly 54 percent of all births, according to the Department of Healthcare and Family Services. The total cost was $890 million. Medicaid plays an even bigger role in births to teen mothers, paying for nearly 94 percent of teen deliveries in 2009.

Since 1989, the federal government has required states to cover pregnant women whose income is at or below 133 percent of the federal poverty level. That’s the equivalent of about $14,800 annually for a single-person household. That’s the minimum states must do.

Illinois goes beyond that, covering pregnant women who make up to 200 percent of federal poverty, or about $22,300 for a single person’s annual household income. Teens who are pregnant are covered up to 300 percent of federal poverty, or about $33,500 for a one-person household.

And a newer federal requirement has tied Illinois to those higher eligibility levels.

The federal health care overhaul, President Barack Obama’s landmark legislation, requires states to keep their Medicaid eligibility stable, barring Illinois and other states from saving money by lowering income ceilings for pregnant women and other groups.

http://capitolfax.com/2012/03/12/medicaid-pays-for-94-percent-of-teen-births-here-but-program-cant-be-cut/

-----------------

It's like winning the lottery. You can take on one of Rahm's $11/hour welding jobs, still collect Food Stamps to subsidize the corporations profits in the process and still get your baby delivered for free!

Oh and if you were an illegal it's instant citizenship for the kid so you have that whole don't break up the family stuff going for you too.

Come on up and drop anchor while the Governor and mayor preach to us about healthcare cuts for those of us who funded this system.

For those against medicaid providing birth control for women to prevent unwanted pregnancies enjoy the consequences of that decision as the victims not just drop anchor here but they are anchored in poverty eligible for decades of social programs as well. One billion dollars is only the start.

A mini-riot happened at the Rino bar yesterday involving drunken St. Patrick parade drinkers of too much green beer in the Beverly neighborhood. The cops shut the bar down only AFTER a really long discussion with the bigwigs only to have another mini-riot to occur a few doors down. The bar is police friendly so have to see how this plays out, because the bar is rumored to have lost thousands of dollars in the melee. What was hilarious was the people trying to get in the bar that was shut down while the cops were on the block TELLING everyone it was shut down. Where was all these private security forces at???? HMMMMM?! Someone was fooling somebody. The alderman wasn't too happy with any of this and said to have wanted to shut down more of western avenue but an unknown black limo pulled up behind a back alley and a meeting was held with a lot of yelling overheard by some neighbors of how this is YOUR neighborhood, DEAL with it. Makes you wonder who was in charge! It seemed a lot of parents were out of town that day because a lot of underage drinking was going on.

Get used to this kind of nonsense, good tax paying citizens of Wrigleyville. The mayor doesn't feel it's necessary to keep the CPD staffed with the appropriate number of cops. The majority are being sent to work the ghetto even though the "community" doesn't want them there. The thugs quickly adapt, like all good predators do, and know enough to go where there are fewer cops, and that is your neighborhood and others where people actually work for a living and pay their taxes. For those of you who voted for Rahm and the other Democrats who continue to ruin this city, county and state, don't go crying now cause you asked for this shit. Court puts fatal bullet in Seattle's gun ban at city parks

OLYMPIA, Wash. - The Washington State Supreme Court put an end Thursday to the city of Seattle's efforts to impose a gun ban at city parks.

Attorneys for the city had asked the high court to overturn a lower court ruling that the gun ban violated state law. But the Supreme Court justices declined to even look at the case, reaffirming that the gun ban is illegal.

The National Rifle Association cheered the ruling, saying that it represents a "final victory" for Seattle gun owners.

"The Washington Supreme Court made the right decision in recognizing that the city violated state law," said Chris W. Cox, executive director of the NRA's Institute for Legislative Action.

But Seattle City Attorney Pete Holmes said the city should be allowed to set policy on property it owns, including a gun ban, to protect the safety of park users.

"They would like to know that no one should have the right to arm themselves in the park that they're sharing with families," he said.

The case began in 2008, when the city of Seattle and then-Mayor Greg Nickels enacted a rule that banned firearms from city parks, community centers and other city properties. That rule was prompted in part by a shooting at the 2008 Northwest Folklife Festival in Seattle that injured two bystanders.

In 2009, the city added another rule that banned guns from parks where children were likely to be present.

In October 2009, the NRA and the Second Amendment Foundation asked a King County Superior Court judge to strike down the rules as a violation of a state law prohibiting localities from enacting this type of ban on guns.

In response, the city replied that the ban was permissible because it was acting in its interest as owner of the park properties.

In 2010, a King County Superior Court judge struck down the gun ban, and the state Court of Appeals later confirmed that ruling. By declining to review the appeals court ruling, the state Supreme Court reaffirmed it, and the gun ban is now history.

But Holmes said the city of Seattle hopes to pursue the issue in the next legislative session, by pushing for a change in the state law that prohibits city gun bans.

Bald eagles shoot down plan for firing range
Updated 3:39 p.m.

Chicago police are scuttling plans for a shooting range on the Southeast Side less than a month after the discovery of the first bald eagle nest in the city since the 1880s, a city official confirmed today.

We can use 63rd and Halsted instead I guess.

Now the Racoon goes after the disabled with parking passes. Da Mayor came out today and said that disabled motorist would have to start feeding the parking meters. He even got Sec. fo State Jesse White to chime in with a nod. They say there are way too many cheats out on our streets not paying the meters. I thought we had folks out on the street from White's office and the CPD going after the cheats. The REAL reson the city is knocking out the parking freebees is because the compnay who owns our meters for the next 200 years WANTS TO FUCK US OUT OF EVEN MORE MONEY! All of those corrupt low life politicians who were paid off to pass this insane law have been told to get after the cripples to pay up. How fucking sad our elderly and disabled have to crawl to the fare box and back to their cars just to feed these greedy corrupt bastards at City Hall. This town is finished!

I know I made a few calls to my "leaders" and let them know my thoughts. Maybe a lot more voters have contacted these worthless asshole Alderfools and made some threats. Enough is enough!!!

My faith in the "authorities", the media and all their so-called transparency just hit a new low.

Case in point.

-----------

1 dead, 1 injured in South Side shootings

Staff report

5:56 p.m. CDT, March 12, 2012

A man or boy was shot to death in the backyard of a Chatham neighborhood home this afternoon, authorities said.

Police were called to the 8100 block of South Prairie Avenue about 4:50 p.m. and found a man or boy shot in the head, according to police News Affairs.

The person was dead on the scene, police said

more >> http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/chi-1-shot-to-death-1-injured-in-south-side-shootings-20120312,0,2115869.story

----------------

Is there a new ban for using the word child or boy? Is that what it is?

Have the authorities investigating the scene lost the ability to tell if it was a man or a boy that was shot in the head?

Why would that be?

Or is it just the media that has been given new orders to tone done the violence reports because of the images that are conjured up when it happens to be a boy that is shot in the head?

This passes for journalism, for news. It's an embarrassment and they know it.. whomever wrote it must not be very proud about it because there's no name just the tag "Staff Report"

We can only imagine what the reports will look like by summer.

"Something was shot in the head and investigators have no-one in custody" Or. Somebody got hurt by gunshot or a knife....or wait maybe it was just a rock I don't know authorities at police news affairs said.

Maybe it's due to the new GO and all the reports must now go through the Comandante eh? For fear of retaliation.

All the words that conjure up an attacker are being removed from the chosen vocabulary have you noticed.

Have you noticed the word hurt and injured more than shot or wounded lately or is it just me?

Now it's we don't know if the victim was a man or a boy. Give me a break.

Where there is smoke there is fire. Seems like there is about to be a huge blaze set in the Chicago City Council when Racoon Eyes introduces legislation to fuck us all with his corrupt money grabbing speed cameras. It almost sounds like some of our Aldercreatures are coming out of hibernation to take a better look at this fraud. Even when our "leaders" even begin to look like they are about to do the job they are over paid for you know something is cooking. Seems that the Racoon's pal and top campaign aide Greg Goldner is going to reap millions from this deal with Redflex Corp. Goldner says he hardly knows the Racoon but he worked on his US Congeress and Mayoral campaigns. Again both of these fucking self serving thieves deny any collusion with each other or Redflex. The Racoon made Chicago the only jurisdiction to have the cameras but you know these bastards plan to extend this shit all over the state. Even some of our suburban political thieves already have their greasy beaks in the barrel. Citizens are pissed about this shit being tossed on them by our always corrupt inept politicians. Time to grow some balls Aldercreatures and send this program to the trash can. Enough of this picking our pockets. And one question...WHERE THE FUCK IS THE US ATTORNEY ON THIS BULLSHIT? Who the fuck got money from Redflex to fuck us with this scam?

I wonder if it will get out of control. I mean truly out of control to the point where people are starting to notice. The media doesn't seem to really talk to the folks who live in the city and get their honest opinions.

I don't feel safe walking around the city anymore because of the citizens who dwell in the city and rob and pillage others seemingly at will. The police are underfunded, the police department is understaffed, the police leadership is either clueless or doesn't give a damn, and our mayor doesn't care about us. When enough citizens start discussing these problems we will see change.

Another issue I would like to address is that the state legislature has brought up concealed carry again. Please lend support to it so that IL can finally join the rest of the nation in having some sort of CCW for its citizens.

Imagine the Racoon looking in the Yellow Pages for bond companies and contractors to build the new parks for our kids. Fact is they already have connected contractors and lawyers lined up for the work. If da Mayor doesn't keep handing out contracts to these weasels political donations will dry up. Area 1 has truly gone from first to worst. I bet the 5th District at least answers their phones (right Pat Walsh?). Expecting more out of the uniformed coppers and then treating them like shit is no way to run an area. What do you expect from a crew of all-merit supervisors though?

I'm a suburban cop who was out with my wife last Friday night in the 2200 block of Lincoln. I was waiting to get my car as the bars let out at 2am. I was amazed at the scene: hundreds of 20-something drunks, guys urinating in doorways, people puking, and dozens of utterly clueless drunk kids standing in the street blocking traffic while trying to hail cabs. No fights at least, and only a couple minor injuries from drunks tipping over off the curb. So you got that going for you.

I don't think they were talking about the call from your boyfriend-they mean the department phones. Used to be easy to make a notification there-now you either get someone from the wrong place (SVU goes to HGS etc) and they hang up on you, or they promise to page someone and then you get ignored then hung up on. There is no accountability over there, but we still get told to bring in the numbers. ASSHAT CRUST.

The problems at old Area 1 are numerous, and they fall sqarely on the shoulders of the supervisors. Say what you want about Walsh, but the dics there were pro-working police when she was there. The commanders hate what the supe makes them do, the lts and sergeants hate what the commanders ask of them and the dics just all went into retirement mode. The people who pay are the beat coppers who are told to do more for their time due, early/late starts etc then shit upon by detectives. Once upon a time we were on the same team. Now the d-unit is all about the d-unit. It's not all roses in patrol either people, so do us a favor and earn some of your paycheck.

I no longer have any personal interest in this. In the last year two people to be assigned to Area 1 after not working in the area for some years, both retired upon seeing the utter lack of concern, professionalism, leadership and morale. Many, many CPD learned how to be the police in A1, in the district or one of the many units that operated out of that building. That Area was jam packed with some of the best police officers that ever worked this department and if there was anything you wanted to learn someone there would teach you. I guess times change.
