014 Shooting in 015?

  • Chicago police fired shots at a suspect who fled from officers before colliding with another squad car this morning on the city's West Side.

No officers were injured in the collision, or when officers fired on the suspect following the end of the pursuit in the 1200 block of North Lavergne Avenue in the North Austin neighborhood just after midnight, police said.

The motorist was taken into police custody.

Police said the unidentified motorist fled from Shakespeare District officers who tried to curb the vehicle near the intersection of North and Grand avenues.

The mile-long pursuit ended with the suspect's vehicle collided with another squad car on North Lavergne...
No one on our side hurt according to the article. Hopefully, that includes the officers in the squad car that got hit.

The assholes have no fear of confronting or running from the police in this town any more. How many civilians were put in harms way by this moronic Thug driving down the streets trying to get away. And just will happen to this idiot. Probably not much.

To hell with their associates too. This Department has become a complete joke. It seems to me that the apathy about police work is department wide. Maybe the Commanders care about this shit, but it appears that we, the underlings, could give two shits anymore. Everybody is talking about retiring with 20 years. What a fucked up joke we have become. The promoting of unqualified suckholes and morons has led to this apathy. 29 and a day!

Off topic: The conference held by Quinn and Rahm made it very clear that they are not going to use taxes to save any of the pension funds from collapse. Rahm stated that , unless the unions agree to reforms, he will let the funds fail and this will happen in 10-15 years. He spoke of a higher retirement age, the end to cost of living adjustments for active and retired and higher contributions. He calculated that it would take a 150% increase in property taxes to save the funds and he will not do that to taxpayers. You can see what is coming.

Some what off topic, however still relevant to this thread. Don't know if officers have heard the latest out of FOP Pres. Mike Shields. It appears Mike has decided that the Members of FOP 7 are no longer in need of the services of our attorney Dan Herbert. Dan, as well as the other lawyers at his firm, are those who handle Police involved shootings, CR investigations and law suits against officers and detectives. Terminating Dan Herbert is a huge mistake. God forbid anyone of us get into a shooting or "step in some shit", but if it happens, Dan is the guy you want on your side to help clean it up. I urge all members active and retired to contact FOP and voice their concern. There has also been a petition circulated at most of the districts and Detective areas. Please take a minute and sign it. It could make a very big impact on your career someday.

Latin Saint gang members from 45th and Wood were hanging around Mt. Greenwood Park yesterday after their court case at Br 35. (20 of them were arrested in St Casmir last month at a memorial - Mac 11 and pistol recovered) Yesterday, they claimed to be enjoying a nice day in a safe park. 022 did a great job and dispersed them but the word is they may have been recruiting for a Mt. Greenwood section. Please report any suspicious people looking in cars, throwing gang signs etc. The Latin Saints wear baby blue clothing ( North Carolina jerseys, etc) and have Hispanic, black and white members. They'll only get it if you let them take it. Again, please call 911.

But he has 7 billion dollars for an overhaul at O'Hare airport. I can just see a bunch of coppers in their 70's patrolling the beats and fighting with these little thugs because Tiny Dancer wants a higher retirment age so he doesn't have to pay what's owed and promised. Is there going to be any pension reforms for him and the other politicians in this crooked city? I hear birds chirping now.

I got news for Rahm... you can't just let the pensions collapse and continue on with business as usual. There would be deep repercussions. That's kind of like me saying I'm just going to quit paying my bills but keep collecting my paycheck from work. You think all my creditors would sit back and let me do that? You think my bank would let me stay in my house? You think my gas and electric would stay on? Yeah, the big mouth mayor is going to let the pensions collapse but at the same time he's going to start a 7 billion dollar expansion at the airport and all the retired coppers out there are going to go on welfare and live in cardboard boxes... get me a shovel because the bullshit is getting deep.

O.T.
This joke of a department is getting crazier by the day. I walk into roll call in 007 today and felt like I was back in 3rd grade. There were large cardboard posters hanging with scotch tape on the wall. Someone wrote on the boards with black marker naming all the zone locations and the gangs in those zones. Apparently some exempt came to roll call and asked the officers to name the zone boundaries and why the zones were there. No one knew(or maybe no one cared) the boundaries of the zones, nor the reason why we have those zones nor the gangs that are at conflict. Now the braintrusts are pissed because no one cares about the zone bullshit so now we are to "study" and know the zone areas and all the gangs and factions and players in each zone. I guess there will be random quizzes on this!! What will happen if I fail the quiz? Will I be sent to 007 to work the zone? Oh wait I already do that. Apparently feelings were recently hurt because someone wasn't saluted. Now there will be a stand up inspection everyday at roll call just in case some exempt randomly comes to roll call we will already be standing at attention to salute him to boost his ego. It just gets better everyday.

About the pensions. They have not been putting their share in for years. Their motives are clear. The funds will hit zero because what we take out is more than what we put in. All the Baby Boomers will devour it. Once the funds hit zero, the crisis will be gone. You never leave this job. You will be 72 years old, still in your beat car. One day your partner will look over at you. He will think the old bat fell asleep again. No, in fact you will have died. He wont notice for a while. He has been used to your old ass falling asleep, like you are in your rocking chair at home with the TV blaring. After an hour or so, he will make a hard left. Your lifeless body will flop over on to him. The gaze off death from your face will startle him. In his desprite attempts to push your corpse off him will, he will veer into oncoming traffic causing a fatal auto accident. This is your future.

Good Luck & Get Well.

I talked to a neighbor of mine who is a minister in a well established church in the 15h District. He has a neice who works in 015 and she has been pouring her heart to him on how bad things are and how hard she and the rest of the cops there work. She was telling him how they were going non-stop from call to call and all the evil they were confronting.

I have been telling him stuff like this for years but the stories fro his own family seem to really affect him. Maybe it's the tears. He gave her some words of encouragement to continue the fight I think this guy would make a good chaplain.

What also impressed me was how far Rahm, and even Obamma have fallen in the Black community. They just don't brag about them anymore and BHO now seems just like any other slick politician to them.

And Garry McCarthy, don't go to that church, I already told him what to say.

Hey SCC, off topic here. Since the department is making officers stand on foot posts 99 in hot spots. Maybe one of your readers can answer my question, Why is the department doing this? I thought thats why they installed all these police pod cameras in hot zones for. Maybe because its what you (SCC) being saying all along, a camera is useless unless there is someone controlling and monitoring it. Also a camera will never come down from its pole and physically arrest a criminal. Maybe its like you have been saying all along, only boots on the ground can do this. I suggest the city sell all these cameras and with that money HIRE MORE COPS!

Well said good ole Lt. DH is a blowhard of extreme proportion's the problem is that 014th has changed alot of the ole guards are gone the 3rd watch is full of young Officer's who don't know any better, example P.O goes in her office the other day to be excused, reason the P.O's kid was rushed to the emergency room cause was serious in nature, good Ole Lt. DH flat out told P.O NO! Your not going anywhere were short. P.O does nothing in return, this is an example of her being a bully, when you have a Boss who is a belligerent piece of work who single handely has killed an entire watch YOU MUST BAND TOGETHER and cut her legs right from under her this is what the 025th dist. did when she was a Sgt. 013th Dist. also banded together and had enough of her antics. 014th Dist. don't sit back and take her Shit! Herbert was fired by Mike Shields b/c Dan called him out on his B.S. and Mikey didn't like it. Dan actually has police officer's best interests in mind. I don't think that can be said for Mr. Shields.

Not saying it's bad. I've been on over twenty years and sorry haven't stood up for inspection everyday any period of that time. We barely stand up on Wednesdays for gun inspection(Maybe once a month or two). The point wasn't being mad about standing up it was that an exempt had his feelings hurt because nobody stood up and saluted him so I guess this is their idea of punishment. Doesn't bother me I'm on time everyday and wear a uniform properly. The saluting part, well that's a different story

It wouldn't be if morale wasn't in the toilet and the department wasn't figuring out a million and one ways every day to fuck over every copper on the job and make their lives a miserable fucking hell for absolutely no reason other than they feel like it. It also wouldn't be a problem if the people conducting the stand up roll calls were actual cops that worked the streets and did any sort of police work in their careers. Instead it's a bunch of pencil pushing, silver spoon college edumicated assholes that never even pulled their cuffs out. In other words, this ain't the CPD of 1968.

Do you really think that back in 68 every supervisor was qualified, was street smart and not a political hack? If you do then you have no sense of our history. Before 1961 the only way you were promoted was through clout or a bribe. It was loosened up a bit, but not much. I am sure every generation of cops have pretty much the same complaints. Yes, this is not the department of 68, in some ways better and in some ways worse off. But, still a great department and a great job with many great people. That never changes.

All I have to do is ask myself if I'd hire myself when I was drinking, to do anything. The answer is no. He's getting worse every day, no different than a million drunks dying before our eyes. If anyone can talk him into treatment do it. Holy Family is a great place. It's the real deal.

Nothing happened here in 014 last . . we are to busy popping pills so we can recover from the insane LT. D.H.

In the mean time no one DOES NOTHING after 1300hrs when she comes into work.
The Commander does not have a clue as to why there in NO activity when this mentally ill bat-shit crazy nut job is the Station Supervisor.

I think there are NUTS like her in EVERY district and SOME like her were those that ACED the promotional tests... LOL!

Sometimes Merit choices are not that bad because you can get DH or whatever screwball or nutjob that never did police work well or at all but did well on these tests and then is now in charge.

There has to be a happy medium somewhere or we get what we get.....Lt. DH's

2nd thought

Maybe the Department should go in that direction.....

HIRE MORE like Lt. DH so they can become CLONES like the STAR WARS MOVIE the "Clone Wars" then I say put all the CLONES in one district like ......017 (since they are nuts up there anyways with what we read on the blog) and then transfer her up there and put her in charge of these CLONES....you got problems we got answers!
