Tetanus Shots

Someone in the comment sections wondered if it was disturbing that CFD were all given tetanus shots prior to the NATO summit, while CPD wasn't even offered the option to accept or decline a shot.

In light of the reports of excrement bags making an appearance around downtown, it's a lot more disturbing that it was two days ago. Updates on the hepatitis shots we got years ago probably should have been offered, too.

Helmets, gas masks and gear blocks away in a potential hostile situation. A rule not to use pepper spray and now this. Nothing about hepititis shots, tetanus etc. Sounds like the city is being negligent. If im hurt by a thrown object or something because I was ordered to leave my protective gear somewhere else then yes... I hate to say it, but I will file a lawsuit against the city. I dont give a sh*t anymore. If they are going to throw us into this situation and are going to do everything they can to keep us from protecting ourselve in this historically violent march and I get hurt then I will retain a civil attorney. Why not.. If i win I get money, If I loose then I loose.. wont have to pay anything. If west side sh*thead can do it why cant I... Im tired of it. Especially since the city is neglecting the guys who have to deal with all the crap.

Better late than never, but Walgreens has the tetanus shots and they are covered by Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO, not sure about the others. Never too late to get one, even if it's next week.

Obviously the City hates us. We are being set up to get royally fucked this weekend.

Well I'm sure that the nurses union will....oh never mine that's right the city already pissed them off too.

But maybe...like, where we are all allowed to have our free speech restricted to the place and the time, they would probably make you drop trou. in the middle of Michigan ave during rush hour for your shots.

I went to my own doctor last week and got a tetanus update. I wanted to get the Hep A, but it's a series of 3, over about 18 months. My doctor gave me the 1st one anyhow...

Be safe and go home to your families!!

According to the Racoon we are just useless pawns. All he cares about is nose fucking the President and anyone else who is somebody this weekend. Things might get so bad this weekend Barry, and the rest of his "impotent friends" will have to flee Chicago. Take care of yourselves and your partners officers. Fuck the downtown. Let the jagoffs burn it down. The city doesn't care about you so FUCK THEM!

The City even gave sign hangers shots a few weeks ago, guess they needed them more than the police. Stay safe out there.

If you got the Hep C series your vaccination is still good, the only problem is that hepititis that is spread through feces and urine , you need Hep A (2 shot series).

Still think your union contract means anything?

AFSCME loses appeal over canceled raises

Friday, May 18, 2012

* From the AP…

A federal appeals court is backing Gov. Pat Quinn over pay raises his administration canceled for thousands of union workers.

A U.S. District Court dismissed an effort by the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees to force the administration to pay the raises. The Seventh U.S. Court of Appeals on Thursday upheld that ruling.

The appeals court ruled the 11th Amendment prevents the union from prevailing because ruling in AFSME’s favor would force the state to spend money.

...

AFSCME’s suit contended the state violated both its union contracts and the equal protection clause of the U.S. Constitution. The union sought a court ruling that would force the state to pay the raises. […]

The equal protection claim made by the union requires it to “plausibly allege that no reasonably conceivable set of facts supports the pay freeze as a rational instrument of cost savings,” the appeals court added.

“Instituting cost-savings measures is unquestionably a legitimate governmental interest, particularly for a government in such dire straits,” the court said.

* AFSCME react…

“The governor has a moral obligation, and under the union contract and an arbitrator’s order, a legal one, to rescind his illegal pay freeze and make employees whole,” AFSCME said in a written statement. “It is regrettable that he has provoked litigation instead of complying with the contract and the law. We … will consider further steps as we pursue the case now pending in state court as well.”

Im on CFD, downtown and we werent given any DT shots.

The Hep vaccine is 3 shots, 1, 2nd 3 months later, 3rd 9 months after that. Rarely is a booster needed after that
