Obama Out as Grand Marshal

Evidently, someone in the Obama "choom gang" stopped taking hits off their primo weed stash and realized that Illinois is already in the bag for Obama and he doesn't really have to waste valuable campaigning time catering to the Billiken crowd.

WBBM NewsRadio 780 just reported that the president is not coming to Bud Billiken and won't be the Grand Marshal of anything this August.

An invitation extended to the president doesn't automatically mean the president accepts it - especially after a Secret Service review of the situation on the ground.

5B Furlough Grievance:

This decision has been evaluated by the Lodge attorneys. It is unlikely this decision would be overturned in the courts. Therefore, we will reluctantly accept the arbitrator's binding decision.

The same lawyers who reviewed the deadline letter? or the ones suing Bella? or the ones that sued Markie's secretary? or the ones that are suing the pregnant secretary? Or did FOP get a good lawyer?
Where is Pleines?

5B Furlough Grievance
June 27, 2012
The 5B Furlough Grievance was presented to Arbitrator George Roumell at a full arbitration hearing on May 7, 2012. The Lodge and our attorneys were optimistic when we were able to secure Arbitrator Roumell for this hearing as he is very familiar with the operations of the Department and the needs of our members.

Arbitrator Roumell rendered his decision and denied the grievance in its entirety. His decision focused on Article 29A – Furloughs, Section 29A.4 of our Collective Bargaining Agreement; specifically on the phrase subject to operational needs. The Department was able to convince him that they needed all hands on deck. In the arbitrators words: It was a unique situation against a background where in other cities in the world where there had been a NATO Summit there has been large protests causing security concerns and the need for police presence out of the ordinary, making it difficult to plan.

There is always an inherent danger in proceeding on any grievance that you may get a ruling that may affect Lodge members for years to come. The Department cannot use this decision to cancel furlough segments for events that the Department has handled in the past. In the arbitrators words: This is a unique special circumstance that is a rare situation and is a one-of-a-kind event and certainly cannot be utilized by the Department as precedent to apply to the type of events and crowd control that the Department had been routinely able to do without blocking out furloughs in the past.

This decision has been evaluated by the Lodge attorneys. It is unlikely this decision would be overturned in the courts. Therefore, we will reluctantly accept the arbitrator’s binding decision.

Another idiot heard from...

The FOP didn't and doesn't get to decide if this gets won or lost, you dumb asshole. Read the contract to see how a) a grievance gets to the point of arbitration and b) how the arbitrator is ultimately picked.

Unless you're totally fucking stupid (which it appears you are), this was projected as a hard win from the beginning. The departments "manpower needs" clause pretty much trumps everything. Just like now when time due is being denied. WHY DO YOU THINK THE REJECTING SUPERVISOR WRITES SOMETHING LIKE "DENIED BASED ON MANPOWER NEEDS" on your slip when your day off is denied. It's so you can't grieve it without some extenuating circumstance or with some super documentation to support your beef. The bosses ARE NOT YOUR FRIENDS, THEY ARE TOWING THE COMPANY LINE BECAUSE THEYRE COWARDS AFRAID OF LOSING WHATEVER PERKS THEY HAVE LEFT.

If you would've payed attention for the get-go you wouldve been aware that an arbitrator was gonna find for the city, but FOP still has the obligation to try and figt for us. But now it's time to weigh the options (which they did) and cut their/our losses and not drag it thru court on appeals costing who knows how much more. Basically it's a gamble that we lost. Get over it, Buttercup. There's bigger fish to fry with our contract and MOST IMPORTANTLY pension issues.

What's that? You're gonna go drink some more Koolaide and write some weed ANOVs so you can work that 06 car? Yeah, that's what I thought you said. Dummies like you should have their union membership revoked automatically. BUT DON'T LET US STOP YOU FROM OPTING OUT OF THE UNION - YOU WON'T BE MISSED.

"Evidently, someone in the Obama "choom gang" stopped taking hits off their primo weed stash..."

GAAA ha. SCC remembered this one!

"An invitation extended to the president doesn't automatically mean the president accepts it - especially after a Secret Service review of the situation on the ground."

Boy, you fucking A right it doesn't. We got a "situation on the ground" here you would not BELIEVE. It is very simply not real safe in Chicago these days -- not even to go get your groceries.

Obama? The last time he made a big deal, repeating and repeating himself about "spending a night in his own bed" when he flew in alone for his $35,000 a plate fundraiser, he was walking around Kenwood with Valerie Jarrett in full sail the next morning.

I have to say -- I just walk past the TV once in a while and this is what I see. This is the President, so they tell me. Now, what is this supposed to look like to a regular person? What would people say if I acted like this?

Then we got that Jarrett family superwedding immediately afterwards -- so that was at least PART of what was going on.

No big thing. I mean, Michelle is already saying that herself and Mr. O don't plan on coming back here to live "after his job is done."

Yeah, it's a "situation." That parade has always been a pain in the a__. At least now it won't be another drop-everything, high-security, multimillion-dollar deluxe problem to deal with.

For this, Lord, we thank you.

God bless and stay EXTREMELY SAFE out there.

So..The city passed the Marijuana ticket ordinance.
The problems, other than the obvious:
1: It does not reduce manpower by less than 30 minutes because same procedures have to be followed.
2: Will the department provide scales?
3: Will the State Police Crime lab stop testing cannabis because they will no longer be found guilty and court fees for testing can not be imposed do to it being a quasi criminal case?
4: Will the Governor of the State of Illinois now file a court motion to declare this new ordinance unconstitutional because it makes a State of Illinois FELONY (possession of between 10-30grams a Felony with a prior conviction of any cannabis or controlled substance charge)a city ordinance violation?
5: How many law suits will come from this now because we are arresting INSTEAD of ticketing for some and not others?
6: When does it go into effect?
Questions maybe someone smarter than me can answer.....
