Off Duty Shot

  • An off-duty Chicago police officer was shot in both legs early Saturday morning the 9700 block of South Genoa Avenue, according to authorities.

Two off-duty police officers assigned to the Central police district were on the back porch of one of their homes in the 9700 block of South Genoa Avenue when gunfire came in their direction from the tracks, police said, citing preliminary information.

One of the officers, 38, was hit in both legs and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Police said there were at least two suspects they were looking for who may have fled west from the scene. It's unclear if the gunfire was directed at the officers.

A cop in his own yard, on his porch, and someone fires from the tracks at his house?

Get well soon Officer.

OT. Check out the article in the Trib about crime going up and its relation to citywide units being disbanded. It states that bosses are complaining that too many officers are being given off on the weekends when shootings are occuring. Really? Last i checked very few or none are being given off. Maybe the problem is that you are triple merit promoted and have no clue how to manage a district. Or maybe the troops just know your a jagoff and refuse to do anything proactive for you

But if it saves just one officer from getting injured than isn't it worth it?

Apparently NO!!!

THE CME MUST HAVE IT'S TAX BREAKS ALONG WITH SEARS, and MOTOROLA and all the rest.

Stay tuned for the photo-ops of politicians using these types of injuries along with the children as tools to enrich their own "campaign contributions".

The nation is falling into a politically corrupt decayed third world status and these self-serving a-hole politicians are going from corporate campaign fund raisers to corporate campaign fund raiser "look-at-me, look-at-me" I have more money now I'm winning!!

Makes me eff-ing sick.

We empower these people in political positions, some of them for four years, and they spend over half of that time doing fund raisers getting more bribe money for tax breaks and other favors instead of doing the jobs that they have been paid and empowered to do.

THIS IS HOW THE THIRD WORLD OPERATES!

Is Chicago safe?

Oh yeah. Ask Obama. It's safe when you're in the protected elite class like a NATO dignitary, president, or even a Chicago ex-mayor or alderman with numerous body guards at your disposal. Security perimeters set up for miles with 8 foot non-scalable bobbed-wire security barriers etc.. No expense is spared! For the rest of us not so much.

Not safe for even the cops! This is your so-called 'World Class City"

A cop gets shot in the legs and he's "critically injured" -- some kid gets shot in the legs and they were "hurt"

Nice culture we got here. Corrupt from the top down.

The media is bought and paid for and the protected class will seek ways to play our hardships for their financial gains. You can take it to the bank!

CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN, WGN, Chicago Tribune, Chicago Sun Times are they going to call out any of the politicians on the corruption? Hell no.

Rahm has a $14 million dollar campaign war chest money that can be used for media advertising. What media outlet is going to f--k with a potential customer with that kind of money to spend? Same goes for Obama, Romney and all the rest. Don't say anything offensive as they may take their campaign money business somewhere else.

Look around...

ICE busted 44 illegal immigrants the other day around Chicago (oh look we're getting tough) and today Obama is talking about not deporting Illegal immigrants. (oh no we're not)

Rahm talks today about decriminalizing marijuana while California had already decriminalized it and legalized it for medical use and in fact the medical dispensaries were raided by federal agents under Obama's command just last month.

It's all double talk and lies! Say whatever you need to say to get that campaign money. You don't have to mean any of it.

We're told Rahm is going to "walk the walk" as he offers a shared job to four students at city hall. Four!

Meanwhile hundreds of students are kicked out of summer youth programs and mentor programs run by CPS as the funding gets cut. Who you trying to stroke with the bullshit?! Who?

Where's the president? oh he's doing another fund raiser in Hollowood with some of Rahm's Hollywood friends he doesn't have time to run the country and address these issues. Why he's a busy man..

I don't know.. I just don't know anymore..smh. Disgusted.

Weed arrests were useful in taking the animal off the street for a short while. Probably prevented a whole lot of mayhem (shootins and murders for you New York boys).

Discretion was the order of the day in locking someone up for a little weed. More went down the sewers than in an inventory bag. Not a bad guy? Weed down the drain. Dude was a gang banging piece of shit? There's a few hours out of circulation for him. No shooting, no banging on the corner, no getting shot.

Enter Mayor "Let's Make Money Instead of Keeping the Ghetto Peaceful". The Mayor gets $100 - $500 a pop instead of a few hours of peace for the neighbors.

Mayor Emmanuel is taking a huge tool away from working police officers. We still have to inventory the dope Mr. Mayor. So the only one off the street will be the police officer. The gang banger stays available for banging. GREAT!

OT

Open your eye's.

This is how the Sanctuary City reach-around strategy is working.

Gov. Quinn and Mayor Rahm are boasting about Illinois job creation but they are talking only about service sector jobs.

The latest BLS reports shows Illinois lost jobs. We lost high paying construction jobs and high paying professional service jobs.

Overall we lost 1,800 jobs in Illinois. However when you play the statistical game and look at one small sector that has a gain you focus everyone's attention on that to distract us.

They point the the job gains in the service sector and then to the fall in the unemployment rate as though they are related. But how can the unemployment rate actually fall when the state actually has 1,800 less people working!

It's a game. It's done by taking the unemployed people that rolled off their extended unemployment benefits and they stop counting them under an assumption that they are no longer looking for work therefore are no longer a part of the workforce.

Oh those fabulous service sector jobs. Go take out a six-figure loan to get a worthless degree and spend the rest of your life in indentured servitude making a min. wage so that the CEO's can collect million dollar paychecks and demand more tax breaks for the privilege of keeping us and our children in poverty..

Take a look at the future and ask yourselves how city services, healthcare, pensions etc are going to get funded with those glorious min-wage part-time temporary "service sector jobs" that Quinn, Rahm, Madigan, Burke, Obama are creating for you?

Check it out..Here's your kids future..

Not Where They Hoped They'd Be
Jun 15, 2012 | 77

Reuters recently assigned a number of photographers to capture images of a struggling generation. The result is this series of portraits of graduates from around the world who have been unable to find work in their degree fields and have ended up in poorly paid service industry jobs. Although their current positions may be disappointing, the subjects in these photos may count themselves lucky to have any job at all -- the International Labor Organization estimates the number of people aged 15 to 24 without a job at almost 75 million. From a cook in Athens with a degree in civil engineering to a waiter in Algiers with a masters in corporate finance, these young people have spent years studying hard to compete in the 21st century, only to discover that even the most desirable qualifications mean little in a distressed global economy. Basically the CPD is involved, as is the Secret Service, Army Counter Terrorism Units and any other as is usual and customary when POTUS is visiting. POTUS could be doing nothing and would still get that level of protection. In this case it is a wedding. But POTUS is there so he gets the large contingent of security.

Whatever the politics, POTUS gets protected, Democrat or Republican, Red state or Blue state. It's POTUS.

Add working security before Christmas and all the other senseless murders of PO's that have occurred over the years. Anyone remember John Matthews? beat to death so badly responding units didn't recognize him as one of their own. Johnny Martin, shot wile checking out a disturbance behind his apartment, the cop on the west side shot by a tenant or tenant's friend, it wasn't safe 28 years ago here and it is worse today. Years ago it was more or less "normal" for 2 or 3 or 5 cops to be killed in a given year. Now we are told it is a "perception" problem. No it isn't, it is a savage problem. They aren't going to the ME's office in great enough numbers to keep a lid on the violence. Forget Tasers, .45's work better and cure recidivism permanently.

There are coppers who would rather bash a neighborhood, than worry about the policeman being shot! That was my point and whether it fully came across or not, I apologize for not being as astute as you asshole!!
At no point did I "disparage" as you say the work of others as a whole, I was simply making observations about that copper and why we can't stand united too, so boo fucking hoo northside. In a way you repeated everything I said anyway.

12:05 am. Thank you for pointing out whats important, our kids future. The hell with this north/south side bullshit. Our kids future is whats important. All the private school we pay for will be for nothing, if our kids turnout to be walmart greeters. Not so long ago, our mayor stated " everyone would want to be an emmanual kid", when he took his kids on a family trip outside city. . Not hating on him, but what a fucked up thing to say. We work just as hard, have the same education, if not more, live in neighborhoods that are changing for the worse, and with that 7% multiplier are slowly being pushed out of our homes. We love our families just as much and save to take the kids on different excursions, but unfortunately consulting gigs, from com ed and fannie mae, never materialized, even with my finance degree and good communication skills. Being a product of the late eighties, i had a hope for the future. Hell, big 10 colleges, were 3, 000.00 a semester and found decent employment, that helped pay for what the scholarships couldnt. Its sad my children might not have the same privilages or opportunities, despite all my efforts to always keep the negativity of this city and the world from getting to them. Off duty coppers getting shots at home, private weddings getting more police protection then most neighborhoods, mayors and presidents off to different cities fund raising for campaigns, instead of trying to govern our city and country. Yeah, there are more important things then trying to figure out if the northside is shittier then the southside, or visa versa. Thank you, 12: 05 am. The future of our city and our children depends on on letting go of such non issues and focusing on the november and february elections, so that we can get back to giving our children a chance at being better then us. Much like what our parents did for us. End of rant and thank you SCC for letting us voice our concerns.

"12:44 pm--That's no where near Beverly/Mt. Greenwood ...
My guess is that you are probably some handjob copper that works in 014 or 024...
It's a wonder why this job sucks hearing people like you are guys supposed to be having my back."

***************************************************************************************

Nice commentary Mr. Greenwood "tough-guy". Yeah the comment made about "how is that Mt Greenwood / Beverly workin out for you" was completely out of line and insensitive, but U and others LIKE U also contribute to why this department sux and why we can't ever completely band together and have UNITED FRONT against the city, dept or fop !!!
Just because someone makes a stupid & offensive comment about living on the southside, doesn't give U the right to disparage the work of your BROTHERS and SISTERS in BLUE who just happen to work in another district than yours.
U and others like U “tough-guy” who are very quick to throw stones before even giving thought to glass house U live in are the people who stand in the way of us ever band together !!
But enough about that tool. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family DJ. Take as much time as you need to FULLY RECOVER and if they offer you a promotion because of it, TAKE IT & don’t worry about the opinions of some that something negative to say about it, but would take it themselves in a heartbeat.

agreed. I like to call it the "those guys are jagoffs syndrome". Ever meet that guy that no matter what district or unit they are in, the OTHER district or unit are all jagoffs? Im telling ya, I need to go back to school and learn how to coin this syndrome cuz a lot of us have it.

Check it out..Here's your kids future..

The economy is always changing. I wanted to be a printer when I was in high school. My job plans changed because the economy changed. Fast food giants hire people with masters degrees and bachelors degrees to be assistant managers. Want to know why they get these people? They are hiring and the money is good for an entry level job. So the degreed individuals take these jobs until they find something better. Did someone tell you that the job market never changes? You have to be flexible to stay viable. The world is a tough place and public sector employees have no clue what the outside world is like. If you want the economy to get better, we need to vote people like Gutierrez, Rush, JJ Jr., Quigley, Jan Chikowski, Davis, Quin, Emanuel, Obama and Durbin out of office. They are strangling our economy. They have no clue how the economy works, they are like public sector employees, they have no idea what it takes to grow jobs.

Off topic, leave the Beverly/Mt. Greenwood folks alone. They bought nice houses in nice neighborhoods and it's not their fault that the areas east of them are creeping west. It's like kicking someone because they bought a house in Austin in the mid 1960's. They bought what they could afford in an area they liked.

Lived both south and north.

Never saw the savage at dq on Devon and canfield.
Saw plenty of the savage at rainbow cone on western.

Where the savage goes, mayhem follows.
Draw your own conclusions.

An Anonymous DIVISIVE TOOL reiterated his ignorance...

stating: "If you would have actually read my posting, it was simply to say what others reiterated after me."

Tough-Guy tries to make a point about coppers not being able to stick together as he makes a negative distinction between northsiders & southsiders, the entire 014 & 024 districts and then provides a lame excuse that others have reiterated to him, all the time talking in 1st person.

"My guess is that you are probably some handjob copper that works in 014 or 024 and tells all his neighbors in Sauganash or Jefferson Park how he kicks ass and locks all these people up, when in reality you probably work days with your black gloves on and don't do shit but write the working man parkers while actual ghetto policeman working in the south and west sides are out there being the real police."
"so boo fucking hoo northside."

Does that sound like the rhetoric of someone trying to unite the troops during a time of crisis 2 U ?? The DIVISIVE TOOL was right about 1 thing - There are coppers who would rather bash a neighborhood than worry about the policeman being shot! - And U Mr Tool are 1 of them !!

**********************************************************

How about U save your narrow-minded views & complete lack of respect for officers that don't happen to work or live around U for some other topic, instead of 1 where a police officer was SHOT!?!?

**********************************************************

GET WELL SOON DJ, BUT DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT COMING BACK UNTIL YOUR FULLY HEALED (PHYSICALLY & MENTALLY) !! REST ASSURED THERE ARE MORE OF US WHO CARE MORE ABOUT 1 OF OUR BROTHERS BEING INJURED then about ridiculous neighborhood/district pride !!!!

It's nowhere near greenwood, but pretty close to Beverly. Besides, Beverly has been going down the tubes for years now, Western Ave. Looks like King drive. most days.
If you're in Beverly, especially west end, your house poor, if you're in greenwood you're not, it's basically Canaryville without the horse trough and tie off...

McPudface, go back to the east side and swim. Officer, please stay home and get well. Please stop infighting about where everybody lives. It's clear there are too many -clout-orious chiefs, alderthieves, gangbangers, etc, and not enough police officers. God bless CPD.
