Medical Abuse Coverage

According to various comments, Channel 2 is gearing up for a special report regarding people on the Medical Roll doing all sorts of things they shouldn't be doing. Again, expect this to be part of Contract negotiations as Rahm uses the few to punish the many.

We're still waiting for the Special Reports regarding LINK fraud, SS fraud, free cell phone fraud, utility bill fraud, etc. Those must have been pushed back. Again. Fraud is fraud is fraud, no matter how you slice it.

Hey I got attack by an offender and am suffering from multiple injuries job related and let me tell you there isnt anything like feeling helpless waiting to get back to work. Media should not judge a few idiots and portray the entire department as abusers. Remember in this hell hole we call chicago there are these people wearing these cute little blue uniforms called police officers and yes they are human and do get injured and hurt and sometimes killed weather they like it or not!!! SO F@!# U!

Shaved has an interesting story about retired firemen receiving a letter from the city stating that their Blue Cross coverage will be gone after June of 2013. Mayor Shylock is going to tear us all a new asshole in the coming months. Just wants to make you go out and work harder for your bosses.

SCC you forgot about the bogus baby sitting check the state gives out. Mom goes to work but she splits the check with the "straw" babysitter. Kids are basically left alone or watched by a family member who would of been home anyway.

You know they will play up the whole angle of we are the Police, we should not be cheating the system, higher standards, etc. I agree with that in principle.

But you're right, where are the reports of other types of abuse/fraud.

Hopefully it's nothing too bad. I wonder what did they do. Sit outside 35th street and follow people around to walmart or the gym or something. Guess we will have to wait and see.

I know of one guy on disability after back surgery. He posts pictures of himself on Facebook on a surfing vacation in Hawaii and on his new jet ski on the Chain of Lakes. I know this looks bad and he shouldn't put those photos up BUT there is a BIG difference between having the ability to do SOME recreational activity for 30 minutes or an hour a couple times a month and working as a FULL TIME, FULL DUTY police officer.

If you know anyone that has not done the Psych test yet for new hires; let them know that the Dept is asking if they have any relatives, friends or acquaintances on the CPD.
This is because the Dept wants to do away with nepotism.
If a candidate answers yes to knowing someone on this job, they are eliminated from the processing.
It most certainly is a lawsuit in the making but it would then take years for that person to get hired.

There are a couple "nurses" at the medical section that i'm sure would rat out any one!! You know who you are, you complaining rotten no time on the street bitches!! Your time will come to bite you in the ass on day. We hear you downing other officers as we sit waiting our turn to get the pleasure of seeing your mug. We know you talk about everyone but you know what? SOME of us are NOT the medical abusers you yap about. SOME of us are really sick or hurt. How long did you stay off when you had your kids? Did you come right back to work? I DONT THINK SO! Karma is a bitch & it will knock on your door one day.

If you dont like where you work, go back to your assigned district & see how good you had it shuffling us medical abusers thru day after day then going home without a scratch.

You need to brush up on what that is, and isn't.

Meanwhile, if you tell your neighbor you're on the medical for a knee injury and your neighbor doesn't much like you, then he sees you climbing a ladder to pull leaves from the gutter, don't be surprised if the media gets a phone call. Don't be surprised when their little undercovercam is filming you when you're at Home Depot, lifting big bags of concrete mix and while you're crouching and bending, repairing your front stairs...

And, no; none of this would be a HIPAA violation. Here's the government website. http://www.hhs.gov/ocr/privacy/hipaa/understanding/consumers/employers.html

good idea to deduct medical days from time counted toward pension
some of the medical abusers could never retire
no arguement from 90 % of CPD

now get rid of the fkn gold braid pension , include the merit sgts , lts, and xo's

this would save millions

HIPPA is the wrong Act to look at in this instance. Look to the ADA this Act requires that medical information be kept confidential and maintained separate from
other personnel information. It is not to be disclosed to the media to fulfill a political purpose or to embrass or cause distress to the employee.

8/27/2012 09:11:00 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

In 1998, a United States District Court in Massachusetts concluded that an employer's unauthorized disclosure of medical information made confidential under § 12112(d)(3)(B) was actionable under the ADA. Downs v. Mass. Bay Trans. Auth., 13 F. Supp. 2d 130, 141-42 (D. Mass. 1998). Disclosure to the media is not one of the exceptions to the rule. Gives one pause when you look at was has been done and what is being done presently.

Do you want to know why people are talking about LINK fraud, SSI fraud, etc.? Because entitlement spending makes up over 60% of the nearly 4 trillion dollar federal yearly budget. That means that even if the fraud was at 1 to 5 percent in those programs (which is no doubt much higher given the lack of safeguards) that dwarfs what you're talking about. Now quit reading what the liberal media has told you to believe as fact and educate yourself so you don't look like a dumb fuck the next time you post something.

Either way those of us that have not hit the medical in 5yrs (or more) should be given at the least 50-60 hrs. or more in comp time that can NOT be sold back but used as PD's and over ride the standard CU. time when a P/o tries to use it.
