Smell the Desperation

It reeks. In fact, it reeks so bad, McNumbers is resorting to lies:
  • It’s another Monday morning after another weekend of violence in Chicago, but this morning, a situation that appeared to be getting better is only getting worse.

"appeared to be getting better"? From what angle? Homicides are up across the city, over 28 to 30% depending on which day of the week it is and what the butcher's bill is for the weekend.

  • “The fact is that we still have unacceptable level of violence here. We’re struggling in the month of August,” he said.

During an interview on the CBS 2 Morning News, McCarthy said – up until August – shootings in Chicago were down for four straight months.

“We compare month to month. So, last August we had basically the best August in the city in 30 years. The numbers were unbelievably low, but that’s not an excuse,” McCarthy said.

Shootings were down? Is this guy fucking kidding? Which version of the numbers is he using? The number of "incidents?" Or the number of people with extra holes in their bodies. Because if he's using the first measure, incidents might be down, but under the second count, we certainly can't recall so many incidents of multiple casualty incidents since the late 1990's. Three, four, five ambulances are being called to scenes with astonishing regularity.

And then hanging his hat on this?

  • McCarthy said, despite the weekend violence that left nine dead, officers were able to diffuse a potentially dangerous situation near Michigan Avenue.

McCarthy told CBS 2 this morning that about 20 teens were running through a crowd Saturday night, pushing people and then darting into traffic. Officers quickly responded before anyone was hurt.

Twenty captured out of over 200, maybe 300 depending on which version you believe. Our best estimate was over 200 and that's on scene eyeballs.

But this is the real laugher:

  • McCarthy said, with added patrol officers in the Englewood and West Lawndale neighborhoods, things have started changing around. The murder rate in those areas is down 35 percent this year.

Really? Well let's just open up the SCC mailbag and see what pops out:

  • SCC,

You're going to love this. In 011, there is a running tally of homicides this year as compared to last year on a board in the hallway. In 2011, through today's date, 011 had 29 homicides. Not many compared to historical highs, but enough to keep Fillmore in the running for the title this year.

In 2012, McCarthy and Rahm have supposedly sent 011 hundreds of extra bodies, teams, cars, sweeps, buy/busts, reverse stings, you name it, 011 gets it (unless it's Time Due.) Guess what the homicide total is today with all the extra help?

    29. Exactly the same. How you like Chalkie now?
So evidently the entire 35% reduction McDesperation is touting comes solely from 007? Not bloody likely. And the media eats this shit up.

The media has come to believe a PRESS RELEASE is FACT. And they publish it as if that piece of paper coming off the fax machine (or attached to the email) is gospel. They don't even consider fact-checking or delving into the morsels offered up to them on a paper plate.

And that's why we refer to them as talking heads and not as REPORTERS.

It's really starting to look like the only REPORTERS left in this town are Joravsky and his crew.

Hey im no fucken mind reader but these areas where its super high in violence those fuckers dont want the police help. How about you relocate all sources and place them in areas where their might be some hope. Englewood, westside, little village, grand crossing etc..etc.. are not police friendly and dont give a shit about a quality of life there!

Then tell us how you pick up shell casings in the treads of your shoes when you trample crime scenes. Then tell us how you're leaving as a complete fucking failure.

OT To all FOP members watch out for the Wellness program in the future. So far you have been able to duck it. I have been sent 3 letters to my house reminding me to join, had the commander address me on it personally, went to a class on it and have had several emails from the PBPA praising it. Something here does not pass the smell test for the city to be so eager to have you sign up. I was told the city made an agreement with the Wellness company to get 97% to join. This may lead to some back door reward for the mayor. Remember the city does not offer something like this because they are concerned for your health. They just want to know that much more to use against you later. If you think this is HIPA protected look into the shade of gray (it's Not)!!! If you dont join you pay $50.00 per person (Children are excluded for now you know later they will be brought into the picture because it's for the CHILDREN) according to Ra Ham!

SCC -- OT but get this. Deserves its own thread:

Illinois won't close prisons by end of week

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) - Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn has officially abandoned his hope of shutting down prisons by the end of the week, according to a Corrections Department letter obtained today by The Associated Press.

In the letter dated Aug. 24, department Director S.A. "Tony" Godinez instructs employees at prisons that are slated to close - including the supermax-security lockup at Tamms - to continue reporting to work after this Friday. Godinez calls the action a "temporary delay for the layoffs and closures" that were scheduled for Aug. 31 because of ongoing negotiations about the process after workers filed a lawsuit.

"All affected employees have been notified of the temporary delay and directed to continue to report for duty at their current work location," according to the letter, which was given to the AP by a former corrections employee.

Quinn wanted to empty Tamms in far southern Illinois and the women's prison at Dwight to save money, along with several halfway houses and youth detention centers at Murphysboro and Joliet. Lawmakers objected by including money in the budget to keep the facilities open, but the Democratic governor vetoed it.

Close the prisons? GZPZ, I'm not worried about how many people are in the joint but about how many SHOULD be there!

Find out who the major players are with that company.
I'll bet a beer that you'll find Rahm's brother, the good doctor Ezekiel Emanuel somehow connected.
Plus, they take a blood sample from you.
Why?
And what connection does all this have to Obamacare?

agreed.....know of a few folks who will not participate....the concern: while the city insists personal info will remain private, there is some indication that health info for "the group of employees" will be made known to the city (i.e., x% of folks smoke, or are overweight, or....); will that be used in the future by the city to adjust/raise health premiums in the future, and/or used as an excuse to discontinue or severely restrict health insurance coverage in the future ?...for many years, there was no "wellness program"...now, all of a sudden, it's a great idea (?), and those who do not participate are charged an extra $50/month per employee (an extra $50 if the covered spouse/partner chooses not to participate)...the whole idea stinks....

If you look back a couple of months ago Rahm was touting the decline in homicides in 007. not counting the first three weeks of this year into his comparison. Why not, you ask? Because 007 had 5 or 6 homicides the first few weeks of this year. Must be nice to exclude almost an entire month from your stats because they reveal you're full of shit.

I've got some friends in a European police department, big city, 1.5 million, who were all freaked out a couple of years ago when their homicide rate went from 12 to 16 in one year. And no, its not a gun control issue that keeps the numbers low, as they admit everyone has a gun despite laws againt ownership. Must be something about responsibility.

So, 34 is still twice their annual output.

What else can they do but lie? Do you expect them to tell the truth about their incompetence and the lack of manpower they keep in place? How could they continue to steal if the truth came out? People would demand action if they knew that they were so unsafe downtown.

Through 26 August 12, 007 had 30 murders for 2012 versus 41 in 2011 which equates to a 27% decrease, however, 007 also had 185 shootings during this same time frame versus 178 in 2011 for a 4% increase.

In a nut shell, through 26 August 12, 007 has had 5 less people with holes in them than they did in 2011 through 26 August 12.

So, they are pretty much even with last year like 011 even with throwing all the extra manpower into these districts.

My theory is it may be a "Human Resource" tool to check on family illness or to cross reference potential "new applicants" for City jobs so that i the future they are not hiring potential medical risks.....SMART I guess...

If someone can prove it maybe we have a class action suit...

In other word if Daddy has diabetes or some other potential genetic illness that someone may not claim they have in the family when applying....a cross refenerence to the "wellness" program can check references or family name and they can bas a a hiring decision on a potential medical risk .... a hidden ionvestigative tool from the SMART Rahm machine I guess...

Good luck with this...

"what connection does all this have to Obamacare?"

They're working to get everyone under their control healthier so that Obamacare doesn't have to foot the bill for so many (because it'll be broke at the current rate).

Have you also noticed that obesity is being blamed for everything from cancer, to heart disease to male pattern baldness?

While I don't doubt that it does contribute to health problems, it's awfully coincidental that the news media is being flooded with studies blaming obesity for everything.

Once they force you & your family to conform to height-to-weight standards, you're "healthy".

This way it looks like Obamacare was a tremendous success and another democrat gets voted in as president.

The blood draw bothers me, too. Does this now mean anyone can subpoena the blood sample results? Will this eventually end up in a dna database? There is so much WRONG about an employer bullying their employees into a program like this.
I heard today that a class action suit is being prepared against this. Count me in.
