Number 400?

  • The bodies of two males were found in the trunk of a parked vehicle this morning in the Brighton Park neighborhood on the Southwest Side.

Police were called to the 2400 block of West 45th Street at 10:11 a.m. when they found the bodies in the trunk of a parked vehicle, said police News Affairs....
We aren't sure if these are homicides yet, but two fully grown men don't usually climb into car trunks voluntarily.

Someone also mentioned that the September 2012 numbers have now surpassed the September 2011 total.  Anyone at the bean counter office care to verify?

Wow scc, your really behind. lets not forget number 402 in the 4th district at 9244 S. Chappel at 1816hrs. But why stop there... We also had number 403 in the 011th district at 3800 W. Congress tonight at 2047hrs. Just had another person shot with multiple GSWs to body and face in 006 at about 2345hrs at 8500 S. Paulina and another just happened in 015 at 333 N. Laramie. And the hits just keep on coming.

OT

Was told through the grapevine to look up an announcement from Human Resources via Clear. There is a two page announcement regarding desirable attributes for the position of detective. What is this? Are they laying the groundwork for meritorious selection for a possible upcoming class? Personally, I don't believe it. Everyone knows we have way too many detectives. Just ask them.

It doesn't matter as McFiguredItOut has already decided that this month he will simply compare it to last month, thus achieving his decrease.

He will no doubt return to same month previous year stats when the numbers jive.

Just because they found bodies there, doesn't mean they were killed there. They could have been from the suburbs. Don't Barrington and Grayslake have a homicide problem too? LOL....I better not laugh too hard, the Supernintendo might take my idea seriously....

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$Just like Sons of Anarchy when Bobby Elvis got released because they dropped the charges. He said it was an apparent suicide, apparently he climbed in the trunk and shot himself 10 times!

The leadership on this department is failing, everyone sees it but them. How many boxes do they need to draw, how many contact cards do they have to require before they see that the failure is not the rank and file nor the front line supervisors, but them themselves. Have some integrity and honor and admit that you are in over your head and not fit to lead. We need leaders not managers! Get out and give us our department back before there is no more city left to serve and protect.

As for hiring and getting on the CPD, is there a chance if someone has an OWI and nothing else on their record, be able to become a Chicago Police Officer?

The department can tell the media whatever number they want at the end of the year because they know the media will hang on their every word as fact. No one in the media will go back and research every death in chicago. They never challange the numbers just like they believe the CPD is not way understaffed. Even though an idiot can do the math when 1000's have retired and very few have been hired over the years.

Feels like the gangs command and control efforts may be improving. What I mean is the timing on the shootings seems more coordinated, just minutes apart, and MOI's.

Naaaaw...I must be dreaming, right? Crime is down, crime is down, crime is down. Just keep saying it.

Isn't giving CPS graduates a leg up on city jobs a form of descrimination? How can a person be given the same consideration as a vet? So if my kids goes to private school and I still pay the city taxes he can't get the same treatment?

I wasnt even a resident of the state when I applied for a city job before I got hired. I have no military and didnt know ANYBODY in the city before. So that should answer your question.

hmmm well, that makes sense then. The area of 19th and oakley is having a major internal struggle among leadership. One guy is attempting to control the whole thing over there. Im sure he went to a "meeting" with the sd's from 44 rockwell or 50 and oakley and got taken care of. Well, I dont work at 19th and oakley and I dont work at 45th and western where the bodies were found so I really dont give a sh*t at all. Let em all get killed in my opinion.

Clearly this was a case where a couple of intrepid beat cops could have taken that car and left it in the nearest suburb. Then taken lunch. What's the matter with the canal by Alligator Gardens? That's worked well for years.

Possibly no, due to numerous high profile incidents in recent years involving off-duty drunken CPD officers and fatal crashes or drunken bar fights, which became a national embarrassment for the department. The chances for getting hired with anything in an applicants background pertaining to a DUI conviction is extremely difficult overlook.
