Increase in the Increase
- A man was fatally shot as he parked his car in his garage in the Bridgeport neighborhood this morning and at least six people were wounded in overnight shootings across Chicago, police said.
This was a Tuesday night, so it isn't counted as "weekend" numbers. But October seems to be running ahead of last year - any totals out there?

Off Topic SCC but there seems to be some confusion in the ranks about job title and responsibilities so let's define:
Police Executive Officer (XO) oversees daily operational affairs ...ie...performe administrative duties to relieve the burden on thenCommander sot the Commander can create HIS own poocy to address crime issues in HIS area of responsibility. or to prepare a crime plan. Furthermore the XO ensures that supplies for the officers are available, the equipment is in working order, repairs to equipment are ordered, and tha officers have the tools the need, and that all officers are upmtomdate on training and that internal paperwork, reports are done and available for the Commander. And lastly an XO should have EXCELLENT management skills.
District Commander: Directs and oversees all police activities and functions under his/her area of responsibility, and develops a District Plan to address crime in their respective districts. The Commander develops strategy, the commander develops policy for his/her district. The XO is supposed to carry out the Commanders policy, ie make sure it is being followed.... the XO is not sposed to get involved in lower level issues that are the responsibility of the Watch

what g-mac has is a title and a pay check. the decisions that matter are made by rahm. he must tippytoe around lest he offend rahms voters. he would like to impress the public that hes a doer, but hes like a dog on a leash. when hes not looking they will throw him under the bus. thats the dems way.

Two commanders??
The XO in 019 is nothing but low level issues. He is all about low level issues. He is very good at standing at the back door and making sure the 2nd watch doesn't come in before a certain time or he chews out the sergeants. XO is good at that. In fact, that is what he does best. He monitors what time the second watch comes into the building. A monkey could do that for much less.
We don't need a Freddy Mercury lookalike who makes over $100,000.00 a year.
