Interesting Bail Observation
A sharp-eyed reader send these articles to us. The first armed robbery:
- Bail was set at $350,000 today for a Northwest Side man who is accused of robbing a man by making him withdraw $100 from a Gold Coast ATM this week.
Patrick J. Palumbo, 47, of 2800 block of West Diversey Avenue, was charged late Friday night with one count of armed robbery, police said.
Palumbo was ordered held today in lieu of $350,000 bail, officials said.
He showed the victim a knife and got $100.
- A judge set bail today at $100,000 each for three teen-age girls charged as adults with the armed robbery of two University of Chicago students this week near the South Side campus, authorities said.
A gun brandished by a fourth suspect, a 14-year-old girl facing juvenile charges, discharged while the girl was pistol-whipping a 28-year-old female student early Monday, but no one was shot, police said. The woman was accompanied by another student, a 22-year-old man.
A pistol whipping and a weapon discharge, yet bail is just $100,000? And the guy with the knife gets $350,000?
This just feeds into our opinion about the broken system we have here in Cook County. See below for our judicial endorsements and tell us we're wrong to think this way after half a century of living here.

Arbitrary and capricious.
This is the monetization of the criminal activity and you can bet money that there is some lobby group pushing the politicians and judges to do what they are doing.
It goes right along with the so called "war on drugs" where we have spent over $1.5 trillion dollars and counting on and have seen no measurable difference in the reduction in the number of drug addicts in this country.
We keep spending and someone is getting the money! Who? From a morality and societal perspective it just doesn't make any sense. So we KNOW, WE KNOW, it's the money. Follow the money.
Think about it.
Just by looking at the guys age ,48, should tell u he probably has an extensive background. That's why his bail is higher. The females are young with most likely no felony convictions. Come on scc u should know better.

Its simple SCC, The three girls need to make bail so they can get out and rob again....DUH
of course the white guy gets a larger amount for bail, just like how in branch court white people get PC found for lesser weight amounts then the ususal norm... have to keep county jail diversified
You would have to know Patrick.P. To know why the Judge gave him a $350,000 bail. A life time criminal and the "Earth Moves with Palumbo."

Palumbo is a career criminal who should be locked up forever. He served 6 years for his last armed robbery. $350K was very appropriate.
The girls should have been $500K. INDEED, vote NO to all judges, the system is broken beyond repair.
And the guy who was joyriding in CTA buses had a bail of $450,000. Go figure!

Unfortunately, I know of Patrick Palumbo from my neighborhood. There is no word to describe the low levels of behavior that this "thing" exhibits. If the
$350K was meant to keep him in prison for awhile, so be it. There is not an atom of morals in this things body.
Give her 30 days with her grandmother with a venue in the park and pay her to entertain others. Thats Chicago values.
Thank goodness that we dont have conceal and carry. A 14 year old honor student was spared injury and possibly her life because of our gun control laws.

Palumbo looked tired of life on the streets and the judge decided to give him the 3 hots and a cot for awhile.

This makes Preckwinkle happy she loves seeing people of non color being held in county. She does not think there are enough non color people in county. She encourages the powers that be to look for canadates.
The guy with the knife: white, he should have known better.
The girls with the gun: black, they don't know any better.
Maybe it was an "assault knife." You know , one of those knives with cosmetic features which makes it more scary. Like a compass or fishing hooks in the handle. Gives me the heebie jeebies AND the vapors.

Well according to your own words the girl(s) with no background should have bee given an "I" bond. MORON!!
They do look at past record when setting bail. As well they should.
very late to this party but indeed, Patrick should've gotten higher bail, his rap sheet must be a mile long. dude is a total degenerate and everyone in wicker park is fortunate to not have him in the area
