CeaseFire Story (UPDATE)
Channel 5 News just had a teaser about tomorrow's headlines in the Sun Times.
It seems that a "police source" is revealing that CeaseFire, after receiving $1 million from Rahm Emanuel with absolutely no oversight, has exactly ZERO success stories to hang their hats on.
Gee, did anyone see that one coming? We're pretty sure we read something about it somewhere. Maybe one of those new-fangled "blogs" everyone is talking about.

“You can’t wait two weeks later and tell us, ‘Oh yeah, we intervened in that.’ We need specifics and time lines,” said the source, who asked to remain anonymous.
Asked about the partnership, police Supt. Garry McCarthy said through a spokeswoman: “It’s a work in progress.”

CF was a cheap way of trying to throw money at an unsolveable problem and look like you were, at least, trying. CF cost the city nothing in insurance, pensions, overtime, and lawsuit judgements. Plus, it politically panders to a cetain segment of the electorate.
Why not work out the details before handing the money over to a bunch of thugs?

Rahm told McCarthy to meet him at the press conference and McCarthy told his sitting mayor, "No." He was riding high from NATO and on every cover of every newspaper in the country. He told Rahm he wasn't gonna do a press conference with convicted felons. Rahm had no choice and conceded but saved face by not showing up either and they sent Wysinger.

A-ha!!!!! I finally have the hang of this "spin cycle" business. When 9.5's puppet says the blog is "insignificant"..............that is a DIRECT ACKNOWLEDGEMENT that the blog is in fact significant. I think that we as police officers should document the lack of interventions Cease Fire actually has on arrest reports. When an admitted gang member is dedebriefed the interviewing officer should note that due to conflicts the arrestee's gang is having with whoever has any member of Cease Fire reached out to you or a member of your gang. It is then forwarded vis the arrest report automatically. Press would love a story about how 99.9% of the gang members in Chicago never have contact with them. Let's use the press to expose this and see if Cease Fire gang members get any more of our tax money next year.

Another news report today about the "digital billboards" that are going to make so much money for the city - they will be run by that French J.C. Decaux that owns all those stupid glass bus shelters with the tiny seat.
The advertising on those shelters was going to bring in a bundle, too -- half the ones I see just have expensive four-color propaganda posters from the City Of Chicago. "We're dedicated that your 'anchor baby' should get off to the best possible start on other people's money."
The other half seems to be Spanish-language advertising for expensive beer and liquor. Hey, activists! Isn't this "exploiting a vulnerable population" or something?
Anyway, in the story they mentioned the city water system as another potential selloff.
There actually was one report that they had looked into selling off the parks, but that there would not be enough money in it.
I guess not even with pay benches and coin-operated trees.

OT Hearing from city hall rahm is looking to place all city employees active and retired into government health care. He has several staff members looking into the health exchanges. He wants to have it up and running by next year at this time. Not sure how it works but I would think this would be a contract issue?

I'll lay it out and I don't work there. Young officers haven't learned their lesson yet, after 10,15,20 years you know better. They believe they're the first guy to ever do police work, I've worked on tact teams and units and now I'm content going from job to job one day they'll be there and think the same way because like any job it's just a place you have to go for 9hrs a day.

It's illegal to put ANY type of cover on your plates, even clear ones that DON'T distort the numbers.
