Squeezy the Pension Python

  • After months of promising a major grass-roots effort to win public support for reforming the state's government worker pension system, Gov. Pat Quinn on Sunday unveiled a plan that featured an incomplete online strategy, children wearing red plastic megaphones and an animated "Squeezy the Pension Python" mascot.

There were, however, no solutions offered on how to fix the nation's most underfunded retirement system.
We'll tell you exactly what the solution is going to be - screw everyone and let the feds sort it out.

And the blatant use of kids for this debacle? Kind of appropriate in a sick way seeing as how not a single Illinois politician is acting anything like an adult during this entire crisis.

Someone let us know when the grown-ups finally arrive.

Yep use "the children" as tools for everything. Steal the pension money and hide behind "the children" and play the victim.

The blame needs to go right on the people in office that skipped these pension payments while awarding no-bid contracts and tax breaks to their friends with the proceeds.

OT: In case anyone was not paying attention to some of the relatively minor political races last election day, another Daley kin got his first elected office and a chance to slop at the governmental trough, wet his beak you might say.

Mayor Richard J. Daley's grandson snagged one of three Metropolitan Water Reclamation District spots in Tuesday's primary, but not by much.
Patrick Daley Thompson scooped up 18 percent of the vote, helping to knock out competitors Patricia Young, Patricia Horton and Stella B. Black. Young followed relatively close behind with about 30,000 fewer votes.

Daley Thompson, nephew of Richard M. Daley, joins Debra Shore, who picked up 21 percent in the six-way race, and Kari K. Steele, who won 20 percent.

Kari Steele who also won a seat on the Water Reclamation board is daughter of Former Cook County Commissioner and temporary Cook County Board President Bobbie Steele. Bobbie Steele gets the full benefit of the Board President's pension after serving only three months after John Stroger stroked out. For those three months her pension shot up to what a full CC Board President would get upon retirement. But it is our pensions that are the problem.

Patrick Daley ran on a platform of "wanting to clean the water up" and that astute statement magically got him elected with 18% of the vote. Long known as a huge fan of water (uh, it's good to drink and ya' gotta take a bath in it) Daley now gets to start earning his retirement credits in earnest.

Is the Pension Board hiring people who are supporting the efforts to reduce pension benefits?

Many of the financial big-wigs calling for cuts to pensions work at investment firms and are also members of the Civic Federation which is pushing hard to cut pensions. Are those same investment firms and banks being paid millions to invest pension money?

Conflict of interest?

Why is the Pension Board paying nearly 250,000.00 a year to lease office space in a building that is inconvenient for all the members

Can't they take a lesson from the Credit Union or the FOP or PBPA and buy a building and have an asset on the books. Why shovel our money year after year into someone else's pocket for office space with no parking.

Unions must immediately file an injunction preventing the City of Chicago and the State of Illinois from failing to deposit appropriate funding into the Pension Systems. Once that is accomplished, previous office holders like Daley should be targeted with both criminal and civil lawsuits for breach of fiduciary responsibilities.

I (not a cop) worked as a mid level, unclouted, manager in state govt. for many years. Everyone in a position similar to mine knew where the money was going. Both parties have ties to consultants who provide a variety of vague services, mostly "training" to the state. I laugh every time I read this blog and someone mentions training on "diversity", "customer relations", "time management", etc. In 40 years I've had dozens of each.

A quick review of the contracts let in the last 40 years will show you how both parties rewarded their pals.

****CORRECTIONS****
It was the General Election, media website had Primary in there, it was no primary.
It is Patrick Daley Thompson, I left Thompson off one reference to him. Thompson said he might not use his middle name "Daley" as if there was a person alive who mattered in Cook County who doesn't already know he is the old man's grandson.

He was endorsed by all the usual suspects, first time candidate for anything, brand new to elected office and somehow he gets endorsed for a low level County spot by Cook County Democratic Party Chairman Joe Berrios, Secretary of State Jesse White and Mayor Rahm Emanuel, House Speaker Michael Madigan, Ald. Ed Burke and Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle.

Like magic those heavy Illinois political hitters must have been enthralled by Thompson's stupendous eloquence and utter brilliance in declaring his platform, "I want to clean up the water."

How many times did he take the bar exam I wonder?

And thus the political career of another fat pink faced receding hairline near brain dead Daley spawn begins. Wonderful,

That three month stint as CCB President raised Bobbie Steele's pension by $ 68,000.00 PER YEAR!

That's right, a $ 68,000.00 INCREASE!

Had she gone back as "only" a commissioner, she'd have lost that extra $ 68 grand a year from her pension.

And hey, let us not forget that she maneuvered to get her son, Robert, approved by the Board to fill HER commissioners seat when she decided to retire at the Board president's pension level. I'm sure he'll be a fixture on that board for life, as well. Funny thing though... his entire political experience prior to his placement on the board?

He was a Chicago Park District supervisor... Nepotism ... Ain't it lovely!

"Squeezy" is one more insult to the people of Illinois by the Democrat Party they love. In the last week of the Presidential race I saw that Socialist slut, Cong. Jan Shakowski leading a demonstration with Muppets to attack Romney for wanting to cut Federal funding of Public Television. Do these politicians assume that the voters have childlike minds? Then again, we are dumb enough to keep electing them, so maybe Squeezy isn't a bad idea after all.

Pensions.

The politicians love pensions when there's money to draw from it, and they can't stand them when there's no money, and their in debt to us.

It's that simple.

Think one simple thought about pensions; if the government got rid of them, do you think that the money they save from pension's would reduce tax accumulation?

Nope. They'd use that money to emboled their political power.

By them (politicians) being in debt to unions, they owe us, and their trying to break that.

There it is, understand it, and stand together.

"...Recall what happened to Dan Rostenkowski after he screwed public employees out of most of their Social Security benefits in the name of "reform". Somebody finally blow the whistle on a scam he had going and he went to jail.

No politician is pure; they all have skeletons, sins and crimes that if exposed would get them indicted, convicted or at least thrown out of office.

If any politician, Quinn or anyone else wants to screw with our pensions we need to see what would get them canned. We need to go after their staff and find out what they know and get them to turn states evidence before they get caught up in the cover-up.

If recovery of money is made they may be in line for a finder’s fee.

Stay Safe. We need to make the politicians FEAR US.

Danny Boy collected his six figure Congressional pension while he was in the joint. The to top that off he was pardoned by Billy Clinton.

Screw the rest of us.

I just got notice of what I will get on social security courtesy of Rostenkowski, $280 a month instead of $700

Rot in hell you thieving 32nd ward thief Rostenkowski, fuck you and fuck your whole worthless family.

Why not tell the illegals that Washington ad Colorado not only will give them Driver's Licenses but LEGAL POT to boot!

Welfare here should be like welfare was in the deep south in the 40's-50's-60's. But insted of a one-way bus ticket to Chicago it should be to Denver or Spokane.

The suckhole Exempt ranks are raiding your Pension. They get their Pension based on their Exempt status, not their civil service rank. You guys better stand up, cause they're gonna cut your pension, not theirs. They steal millions, from your pension, and I don't hear one word about it

Like any other promotion, to Sergeant, Detective, E.T. that comes with a pay raise and new responsibilities this is based on paying into the fund over time at whatever they make.

This isn't like those deals where a politician works one day as a sub-teacher and gets a whole new pension.

And I am not now or ever was an an Exempt.

We must adopt the mindset, if we don't get our pension, we will do everything in our power to make sure no politician gets their pension, no matter what.

they don't care ... Rahm got $18M for an 18 month gig ... it was a political favor out-and-out by a private company who will be repaid in some other unnoticeable way by some other politician ... these guys aren't going to lose, no way

I live in Galewood, sometimes known as East Elmwood Park, almost more Westside.

Not proud that Quinn comes from here but a lot of city, county and state workers live here. He shouldn't screw with his neighbors.
