FOP Newsletter

We got the newsletter in the mail yesterday and read it to cover-to-cover and the amusing thing that struck us was that everyone else who wrote a column, even the guys who lost reelection, were polite, conciliatory and congratulated the winners of their respective races - even Aguilar, which is surprising given his personal animosity toward anyone who disagreed with him. Not the front page though.

Now we get this mere hours into the Dean administration:
  • OT: as Dean dropped the gavel for the first time during the swearing in ceremony, his letter to MLA triggered an order to be released which dumped all of those who didn't run with him. -Talk about trying to gain respect from the member.
You mean, like Nolan kept the Citywide guys out? Like every political organization has kept their opponents out of the inner circles where they could do damage? Like Shields dumped how many people he viewed as a threat and he couldn't control?

This isn't news, so expect similar such comments to be deleted for the time being. Angelo's been in office three days. We agree it's amazing he hasn't turned water into wine yet, but he's certainly producing lots of "whine" from the deposed Citywide guys and their supporters.

You mean that he wants to bring his own people in and forget the results of a union election?? Like Bill admitted he was going to do in the McDonough interview and Angelo said he would not do? Shocking......we are in for a world of hurting.....

Shields didn't dump the City wide guys. He kept Daugherty,,DiMaria, and Aguliar upstairs. Gorman won his spot, Capperelli, didn't want to be a field rep, so the only City Wide guy that as dumped was, Sid Davis. Good luck to Dean. There are rough seas, on the horizon.

So he keeps no one who's been involved in the current contract negotiations?
Oh but he has people 12 years removed from the process.
Bend over Rank& File,Retirees because he's on record that pension is negotiable.

Actually shields left citywide up there and did not dump anyone until the end after bill screw up with the vet. That's were shields went wrong. He brought up two guys jimmy mccarthy and sal as field reps. The rest were elected.

So, is he dumping all who did not run with him in the first round before the run off election, then supported him into the run off??

Boy, what a fucking mess. On one hand, what Angelo is doing shows that the same old traditional cycle of bullshit from past regimes will continue on. Still, you can't expect him to get much done with the out of touch, cry babies from City Wide hanging around and fucking everything up with backstabbing and infighting.

SCC, you waited a little too long to spell out whom you were supporting in this election until it came down to the goofs that we got stuck having to decide over. While I respect your intentions to stay impartial, next time just outright throw your support behind the candidate/team you believe should win. We have some members on this job that are a little 'slow,' for lack of a better term, that need guidance.

I don't expect Angelo to perform any Christ-like miracles, but having his son, an extension of himself, being in bed with Lucifer Shields is very good reason for concern.

Bill "The Oncologist" Dougherty can be found submitting anonymous posts to SCC on his I-pad from the comfort of his marked squad car in the sleepy 022 district.

Or so I've been told...

You do not understand. There is a transition. The old guys are supposed to train the new ones. Nolan Donahue or shields did NOT send defeated guys back right away. No one did what Angelo did. And clearly, he got the message, because the letter was rescinded.

Listen he's gotta get rid of the past. Start anew with those who aren't holding knives ready to stab you when you turn your back. This whole fiasco has shown that fop 7 is a bunch of amateurs. He's gotta bring some credibility to the office, so good luck. Whether you voted for him or not he's OUR president. Come together for the greater good of all current, retired and future members.

Also, will he put his father, a retired detective in the office also. Err, sorry he's deceased.. then again, does that matter?

I am not a fan of Shields. He got screwed by Dougherty, Donahue and the puppet Street. He was given bad advice by the inside people. I don't feel sorry for him but what was done to FOP. They should just disappear into the sunset. Retirement

SCC, the point is that one of Angelo's runoff talking points was that Dougherty wouldn't bring up the guys that were elected. Let me make this clear: ONE OF HIS TALKING POINTS WAS THAT DOUGHERTY WOULD NOT BRING UP THE ELECTED OFFICIALS!!! You've allowed comments for weeks up to the runoff to be posted about Dougherty bringing back guys like Aguilar who weren't elected. I have no problems with bringing up your own guys, but now Angelo's already broken one of his campaign promises and it was one of the reasons he beat Dougherty. Word is that Angelo has already dumped DiMaria, who was elected by the membership, and no matter what you think of him and his intelligence (which I'll admit is average to be polite), Frank worked his ass off for the membership and was never just a political hack, and that's why he's won in 4 or 5 straight elections. DiMaria is pro-police and pro-union to the bone. Angelo is already saying one thing and doing another. That's the problem, SCC.

Hey, this is Deans' right as President, he doesn't have to keep any non elected police officer on the payroll, just like when a new 1st deputy or any other exempt boss does, you bring in your own people, remember we are all here on a VISA, and when that expires it's over!!!!!

If Dean wants to play ball........... tell Rahm to rewrite state law on residency as show of good faith. When Rahm totes the line of its law he can't then box him in regarding that. If he lifts the residency when that's signed sit at the table for pension discussion. SIMPLE AS THAT

So are people like Kevin Kilmer getting dumped even though he won his respective position?? He didnt support Dean in the first part of the election but supported him in the run off because dougherty was going to ship him and a couple others out of FOP office? If so, that's some cold ass shit on Deans part!

And the trouble is we elect people to offices - but the guyin charge is under no obligation to sit them in the office. We think it was Caparelli who won office as a Citywide guy a few years before Citywide swept Nolan, and Caparelli never served a day inside with Nolan. Sure, he was treasurer, but he wasn't inside. For all intents and purposes, Caparelli served as Treasurer from the trunk of his car.

If Angelo is bringing in his own guys, then you state you support that. But if he displaces inside people to do it, he's bad?

What needs to happen here is a change in the By-Laws and Constitution so that we elect people to an Office and those people serve in the Office they were elected to.

Trouble is, that takes power away from the President, and all previous Presidents worked their asses off to make sure this never came to pass. The membership needs to force the issue and make everyone play nice. We decide the direction of the FOP, not people with giant egos who can't/won't/don't get along and just bring in cronies.

How can someone get elected that spent most of his career on disability or medical. This is the problem with FOP you need an officer with street smarts and has been around and done his/her time on the street. He/She would understand the problems that we face each day in patrol.

Maybe you need to find out some facts before you type. The president DA did not spend MOST of his career on disability or the medical. Who are you to say he has NOT been around and done his time on the street. Maybe you've been retired a longggg time or maybe 2 months but try and learn of who you speak before you spout off, then maybe you won't sound like such a dope.

I was at the Board meeting today and Angelo said he is still doing interviews for the upstairs spots. He said once the interviews are over he will call a Board meeting to get them apporoved. Everyone elected is still upstairs. He also kept Dougherty and Aguilar to help with the transition. If you werent at the meeting you probably saw something different.

Will the Exploder blower motors get fixed any faster? Will we get new chairs at the desk? Will the city stop cancelling the Office Depot orders for Xerox paper due to lack of money? Will we get more manpower so we can use our time DUE?

Don't think it really matters who sits in what chair. Can't get the simple things fixed...what makes us think we can get complex matters fixed?

Why even bother having the elected spots then? Why not just elect the president and his crew as a ticket like POTUS and VPOTUS; how they run together.

++++++++++++++++++

Dean did 25 years before the city forced him off. No one on the board in the last 12 years did anywhere near that amount of time on the street. Billy was in the office for 12 years which is just a few months less than 50% of his time on the job. It was time for a new team. Shield's and the hair gels got schooled by the career house mouse's and we got the shaft.
