Homicide Quilt

  • Lindsay Evans’ eyes gravitated to the lower end of the 4-foot-by-6-foot piece of fabric, where the names were so abundant in some neighborhoods that they were stitched on top of each other in a barely legible confluence of Chicago’s violence.

“You can see the hurt and confusion in it,” said Evans, 26, a graphic-design student from Philadelphia.

Hers is the desired reaction for the group of artists who created “Untitled (Homicide Quilt),” a quilted map of Chicago with the names of each of the city’s homicide victims from last year stitched into the neighborhood where a life ended.
Is it wrong for us to hear tomorrows weather report of rain mixed with snow and a 40 degree temperature drop and think to ourselves, "Damn, that quilt looks warm - it'd be nice to sleep under that tonight." And the fact that most of the names on that quilt are currently enjoying the balmy confines of Hell just make it feel all the warmer.

While they are at it, can they knit up some body bags? Put a plastic liner in there so the goo doesn't leak all over.

Sounds to me like the names are unevenly distributed on that map.
Racist map.

No, not at all. However...

would you really want to roll the dice and risk having some of that Ghettofabulous Essence rub off the quilt and onto you?

If it were a living being, that quilt'd have the collective IQ of a dirty ashtray filled with "Huhs"?, "Who, Mes"? and "Y'all some racist bitches"!

If I were SCC, I'd just sleep upright in the sofa chair tonight, sans quilt, to keep my new weave from getting tore-up.

That was sweet of her. Another libtard who believes a quilt will change the world. I'm glad she had enough time to make the quilt with all the names on it. Bet you she won't make one for the fallen fireman, police officers or soldiers. Such sick and twisted people.

To be " fair and balanced" they should also quilt in their arrest history just to see how many were innocent or just were they kilt by the bigger jungle animals?

Now, make a quilt for all the non-thug, non-gangbanging, legitimate innocent victims and it'd be the size of a handkerchief!

I took my family out for dinner in the northern suburb. The dinner was good. Peaceful crowd, people talking, no one yelling or screaming. No one was hurt offended or confrontational.

After I was done with the 4 course meal I thought "I should dedicate this dinner for the 40 names on the quilt."

So here is to you 40... Thank you for allowing me to enjoy a nice meal with my family without any of you and those close to you being there or even near there. For this my family Thanks you.

Amerikuh!
